My Laptop Suddenly Turned Off

What are reasons for a laptop to suddenly shut off?

All of the reasons?Bad battery.  Considering that a laptop battery is made up of smaller, individual batteries... it is actually not uncommon for one or more of the small batteries inside to go bad.  This can have the effect of the laptop appearing to have more of a usable charge than it actually has... your laptop is humming along like normal on battery, shows it has maybe 18% charge or so left... and then it just dies.Overheating.  If the cooling channel isn't cleaned properly every few months or so, dust can build up between the fan and the heat sink at the end of the cooling pipes from the processor pad.  This would mean the fan can't push air through the heat sink, which makes is so the processor cannot shed heat... and the laptop overheats and shuts off.Bad DJ jack connection.  This one would typically be seen in conjunction with a laptop battery that won't hold a charge... otherwise if the laptop has a good battery, you might not notice the laptop switching randomly between being connected to the charger and being on battery alone.  When the battery won't hold a charge, a bad connection at the DC power jack would cause the laptop to just turn off if the laptop itself was moved, or the cable was touched.Bad Capacitor.  Although laptops use solid state capacitors which are harder to damage, one or more blown capacitors could make a laptop turn off suddenly.  I'm not saying it would be when it was blown... I'm saying that after being blown, it could cause variations in voltage levels and unpredictability that can often take the form of the laptop just turning off.Damaged component on the motherboard.  Any number of components can and could go bad on a motherboard, causing the unit to turn off.  Typically however, something like this would result in the laptop not turning back on again. That isn't a comprehensive list, but that's a good start.I doubt it answers your question, however... since I am positive this is a WIMI (What I Mean Is) question.  As to what would cause YOUR laptop to suddenly turn off... I have no idea.

My Acer Turns off Suddenly?

Yes overheating could deff be the culprit....
Take off your shell and make sure that your fan is spinning try to clean it out while your in there the dust could be stopping air flow.... Then Leave the shell off and surf the web and play a game and see if it happens. if this fixes it GREAT! if not....
Then you prob have a cell out on your mother board and or one of your RAM chips are corrupt.
So... if thats the case you need to pull each one of your ram out one at a time and run your computer to try to find the broken chip..... once you find it throw that bugger in tyhe trash and get you a new one. hope this helps.... peace

Why does my laptop suddenly turns itself off?

Alrighty, its sound one of 2 things and the main one is the laptop is over heating and powering down to keep the CPU safe, and the 2nd issue it might be relating to the first issue heating, always make sure there is enough Ventilation so if you have your laptop on a duvet or a cushion this might what is casing the powering down.Good LuckGet inspired at https://www.theartwall.co.uk

Why does my laptop suddenly turn off even though I still have more than 50% battery capacity?

If you want a reason that is related to batteries, because that is the only information that you are going to supply… then it is possible for your laptop to turn suddenly turn off when you have 50% or more capacity in the battery *IF* one or more of the cells in the battery pack are bad.The battery isn’t a single battery. It is made up of battery cells. They look like big AAA batteries. Like this. That’s the inside of a High Capacity HP battery. Nine battery cells…. in a triangle pile. If some of them were bad or defective, the battery might SHOW full charge, or show even a partial charge, but it won’t be accurate. As soon as you really just drain the good cells, the unit turns off.Is that what is wrong with your laptop? Probably not…. but like I said, you only mentioned battery power.

What is wrong with my laptop that suddenly shut off without warning?

How does it shut off?I had a desktop that would all of a sudden just shut down like you clicked ‘shut down’ and nothing you could do but power back up. Turns out it was simply a bad power switch. If you hit the switch on a Windows computer it will shut down.If it just instantly turns off, that could be numerous things. Obviously power is failing somewhere. It may be something like a failing capacitor. Laptops are very hard to work on. Somebody hands me a laptop I shake my head no and hand it back to them. But there are, perhaps, things you can try. That is to remove everything that is removable and re-seat them and see if you have any difference. If you want to clean parts, including RAM, take some WD40 and Q-Tips and you can use that to clean the contacts. I live in very salty air and I have to do this with all my electronics and it does work very well at cleaning and protecting.Just wipe the contacts and set it aside for a little while and let it dry. WD40 doesn’t allow electricity to flow. But you don’t want to put everything back in your PC dripping wet either. A little film is OK to help protect.

My Hp Logo light suddenly turns off?

hi
Usually HP DV series laptop have this issue as it basically built for multimedia stuff n just one cooling fan for all the processing, but this prob also can occur in other brands n models too, this happens when the cooling fan speed slows down / not working or the cooling vents are blocked from the inside. heat exchange reduces or stopped due to which the the system shuts down to protect the overheating processor.

solution to this is replace the cooling fan. and / or use the laptop cooling pads avaible in markets, they surely help in this case

My new HP laptop turns off when I unplug it?

I just got my new HP laptop touchsmart a few days ago and I charged it right after i took it out of the box and I set it up with my name and all that. I didnt touch the laptop for like a day and I left the ac adapter on. now when I try to take the adapter off, the computer shuts itself off. The laptop wont even turn on when i press the power button when the ac adapter is off. When i plug the charger back in and turn it back on, The 'new' blue screen shows up and I just press continue and it seems normal.
I read somewhere that there are power management settings that you have to change in order for the laptop to stop shutting it off but i ont hve 'laptop power scheme' or 'rixane power sceme' setting wich were suppoded to help. I only have 'energy star qualified (recommended)', 'power saver' and 'high performance' options and i tried taking the plug out after each setting yet it still shuts itself off.

Its a BRAND NEW laptop and I dont see how it could have a battery problem already....
how do I stop the computer from turning itself off after i take the ac adapter off?
please be detailed, im new to windows 8...

My Lenovo G570 laptop suddenly shut off and stopped working. What are some suggestions?

It's it overheating? That is a likely suspect considering its an amd cpu. Also, you can check under system events. Go to the start menu, in the search box put in "event viewer ". Wait for it to load up completely. In the left hand pane expand "windows logs ". There select "system ". Check for events. Such critical events are often marked as "error " or critical.

Laptop immediately turns off after turning on!?

On march 17th my laptop suddenly turned off after I exited AION. Although this was probably due to coincidence, when I tried turning my laptop back on it just shut off. Multiple attempts were made and the same result happened. I am guessing that this is either due to a dead battery (because the laptop is always plugged in), or a motherboard issue. I'm almost certain it is not a RAM (memory) problem because the laptop does not get moved around too much for the memory to get misplaced. I looked around on Google and tried out the solution where you hold down the power button for 30 seconds after unplugging everything and then turning it back on with the charger plugged in (then putting the battery back in). This did not work after multiple attempts so I'm convinced that this solution will not help me.

So, should I go take my laptop to a PC repair shop? Or, should I just wait to get the money to buy a new computer? The laptop already has a fuzzy, faulty wiring in the screen and a dead CD-ROM drive and wireless card. However, I would like to get my laptop working again so that I can continue using it with the data that I have on it (I have some important things on it).

If it helps any, the laptop is a 2 year old HP Pavilion Dv9700. The laptop is used pretty much 9-12 or so hours a day. It has had overheating problems in the past do I bought a laptop cooler for it.

I would appreciate professional advice ASAP! Thanks.
