My neighbors keep calling the police on me and falsely accusing me of criminal acts. I am afraid to go outside of my house. What do I do?
I have a neighbor that is fixated on my husband. She seemed a little off, but once she found out about his time in prison she developed a full blown obsession. She wrote the association board for our community a complaint about him slamming doors and watching her when she was outside. This was nonsense but they still had to address it with us. She wrote subsequent letters to the board stating he has a key to her car, and gains entry to turn on her radio...that he lets air out of her tires...that he's getting in her home and releasing ants...and he's poisoning the food in her refrigerator. We'd see police at her door, but they never stopped by to talk to us. One day last fall, my husband was riding his bike. This neighbor pulled her car in front of him and slammed on her brakes, causing him to fall off his bike. Her behavior was now endangering him so we went to the police to file a report. The police were helpful, and knew our neighbor well. Apparently she'd filed lots of police reports about my husband and a few other men from the neighborhood. The police recognized she has mental health issues and never pursued her later complaints. So what can you do? Try to have your cell phone ready to record if you think your neighbor will confront you. Keep a cool head, there's nothing wrong with not engaging in an argument. Don't be afraid to talk to the police to see what your options are if you're being harassed. You don't want to end up on the wrong side of this problem.UPDATE: my local police department reached out to the neighbour's daughter, the daughter called my husband to apologize and let him know she will be intervening in a medically supervised care program for her mother. She made sure he has her contact info should we have any problems. I give her all the credit in the world, she was wonderful and it's great that she wants to be involved in her care! Here's hoping my neighbor gets back on track.
What protects a guy against a false rape accusation?
Almost all the answers here are referring to the Western World. In India, the story is different.A woman's word that you raped her, is enough to land you in prison for a day at the very least, until you get bail. Then, the burden of proof remains on the accused(that is, on the man) to prove that he did not rape her. The court relies on the sole testimony of the woman. There are several laws in the country which are enormously anti-men, especially the anti-dowry law in which a husband's whole family can be put in jail, if a woman says that she was harassed by her in-laws or by her husband. And bear in mind, that she does not need to provide a shred of evidence to back up what she is saying. What I am implying is, a woman's word is as good as a conviction. In short, the answer to your question is, nothing protects a man against a false rape accusation in India. There was a case some time back, where a businessman was arrested for raping a girl at the behest of an IAS officer. Later it turned out that the girl was in cahoots with the IAS and had connived with him to trap the businessman.Even policemen in India claim they are helpless in such cases. If they do not make an arrest then the media will bay for their blood and self-styled human activist groups will stage a protest. Feminist groups will demand the rapists' head. In fact, if you are falsely accused of rape, rest assured your life will be a misery unless you strike a bargain with the girl(here, bargain means giving her what she wants, which, in most cases, is money). If a false rape accused is tried in court, he can be sure that he will get a prison term. Also, if you promise marriage to a woman and have sex with her, but due to some reason, you fall apart, she can take you to court under the pretext of "rape by false promise of marriage". That is, she can accuse you of rape on the flimsy pretext of not marrying but having sex with her. High courts have raised the concern that this provision is misused by female friends to settle a vendetta with their male friends.I would like you to read Anonymous's answer to Why is it difficult to date an Indian woman in general?. It is a description of what is meted out to men if they are so unfortunate to attract a girls wrath. Also, read this Anonymous's answer to What are some cases/stories where some women have misused the Indian laws that were made to protect women?.

There's a site called dresslink.com and it looks too good to be true. I just wanted to see whether or not it was a scam. Has anybody bought from this site? I want definite answers, not opinions. Sorry if that sounds rude! I was just thinking that some of the things on the site were very pretty but I'm not going to buy anything if it's not going to get to me or be of value. So, yeah. Hope I get an answer!!!!!!!
If someone has my social security number can they access my bank account?
It depends.I can imagine situations where they could but they would need more information and possibly access to your email and/or cell phone. They could get a lot of the needed information from a check - routing #, account #, current address.Getting blank checks by creating a word file that looks like a check is pretty easy, once printed it could be deposited via a cell phone app.If you have online banking with a strong password, have turned notifications on (use a low threshold), use two factor authorization, and keep your fingernails clean you’re probably OK.Don’t forget to freeze your credit reports with all three agencies. Hold on to the letters they send - the 6+ character code is needed to temporarily lift a freeze.Speaking of bank stories:I heard this story from a co-worker around 1980, not sure how much truth there is in it, but based on my professional experience it was possible. In the 70s when a colleague in a different office was said to easily make false bank to bank transfers internationally to the total of several million dollars. When confronted by mgt. the story goes he said you don’t have proof, if you had proof I’d be arrested. He went on to tell mgt. that he wanted a written apology, and a strong written recommendation letter, or he would sue for defamation. He received the letters, and moved on to bigger and better jobs.In my professional experience some UK and US banks were very slow processing transfers - some were still using Telex or TWX, security was minimal, and the back offices were overwhelmed - multi day delays were not uncommon when resolving transfers. The nominal thief had access to many transfer notifications and, because of his job, could make minor changes (ie account number, names) to outgoing messages.I never learned how he (supposedly) removed the funds from the overseas banks. This might be a fairy tale, or it might be akin to a bank’s programmer who made a fortune by moving roundoff errors, a fraction of a penny at a time, into an account he owned. Please do not try this at home or work.

How can I fix my credit card report?
You state you are starting from a horrible credit position. Your goal is to get back to “the land of the living” with your credit.DON”T close credit cards…it will only make things worse. DON”T avoid using credit, this will make the situation worse. Credit scores are based mostly on recent usage. The first thing you need to do is to stop the bleeding. On any open credit cards you should work to bring them current. On charge off accounts or collections, paying them won’t help you credit. They won’t take them off and you are being scored on the fact that the account is a charge off or a collection. You get no extra points for paying these off. The solution for these would be credit repair from a company that has an outstanding tract record. I have little faith in the big players in this industry since they operate on the number of clients not in taking the time to increase their results. I have many clients come to me when these companies produce little results. To rebuild you credit with poor scores you will need to establish good credit. The easiest way is to be added as an AUTHORIZED USER to someones positively reporting credit card. Best if it’s a family member. Here are the facts: Your credit won’t affect their credit. They can take you off any time they want. You are borrowing their credit history, not their credit. This means that they don’t need to give you the credit card when it arrives, and you don’t need to use the credit. When it shows on their credit report, it will show on yours, as if it were yours! The higher the credit limit, the lower the monthly usage, the older the account , the more points it will add to your credit scores. You should also open a secured credit card. I would recommend use a Federal Credit Union. You are not ready for the large banks - they will turn you down. I would recommend putting $1000+ in a savings account. Small credit lines will do little for you - and use the card SPARINGLY. You are looking to rebuild your credit, not to spend. The third card can be a merchant card. I recommend one company to my clients since this company reports to all three credit bureaus and they will give you $5,000 of credit. You need to make one purchase. Here is a link to their site to sign up for the card. https://www.myjewelersclub.com/d...By removing negative accounts and establishing positive accounts that are currently reporting will quickly improve your credit scores.
There is a girl staying in Dakar Senegal and she wants me to help her transfer her father's money. She is the next kin of her father. Is it a scam?
Let me guess, a 21 or 22 year old girl who was a first year student, wants your help to transfer 9.7 million dollars that belonged to her late father out of the country, and can't because she is a refugee. And weirdly she keeps adding in facts that either enforce the image that she is vulnerable (21 year old orphaned girl, alone in a refugee camp, in a country rife with political instability); or encourage you to trust her (hard-working student, father a rich man, probably with the title of Doctor); or try to push the religion angle by talking about a church camp, or mentioning God a lot.You have a few options here.1. Transfer the money to her. And then wait a week until she contacts you again asking for more money to sort out some difficulty in getting travel documents. And then wait a bit longer until she contacts you again needing more money to help her out because of another difficulty. And repeat ad infinitum until you either run out of money, or decide that actually in fact this is a scam, and that you'll never see the money, and that she'll (if it is even a "she") continue to come up with excuses to get money out of you.2. Transfer the money to her or provide your bank account details. Wait a few days until someone uses your details to transfer all the money out of your account.3. Ignore the message because it is a scam.Only one of the above options does not involve you loosing your money. This kind of 419 scam (see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nig... ) has been dubbed the "Senegal refugee scam" or the "Senegal Sweetheart scam" , as it always appears to be from a young female from Senegal. It originates from West African scammers, and the scammer behind it is almost certainly not a 21 year old, and probably not female either.Want to find out more? here's a listing of similar scams http://www.419scam.org/419-penpa...And here's the results of one individual baiting this scam: http://forum.419eater.com/forum/...
