My Nails Are Really Bendy And Weak

Is it normal to have bendy nails?

you're lacking calcium because you're nails are weak, so try taking calcium pills or drinking more milk. it's not particularly unusual to have bendy nails, but it's not very good to have weak nails.

My nails are really weak and bendy? Help!?

I used to bite my nails for 25 years!

Growing nails comes from: your good genes, good nail care, and all the healthy foods you eat everyday from Mother Nature.
Beauty products don't make nails grow. Eating does. Babies can do that just by drinking their milk. People giving advice on YA! should list their sources.

You really are what you eat. If you're eating all the healthy foods from Mother Nature - not made by man or woman or supplements from GNC, your hair, nails, teeth, and the rest of your body will benefit too. You get all your vitamins & minerals from your diet. Your hair's fine. You're health's fine, so are your nails. Man-by man vitamins can do more harm than good. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) doesn’t have to approve supplements — no agency in the United States does. Because of inadequate quality control and inspection, supplements contaminated with heavy metals, pesticides, or prescription drugs have been sold to unsuspecting consumers. And FDA rules covering manufacturing quality don’t apply to the companies that supply herbs, vitamins, and other raw ingredients.
Beginning in February 2008, they experienced one symptom after another: diarrhea, joint pain, HAIR LOSS, lung problems, and fingernails and toenails that fell off. FDA has received numerous reports of harm associated with the use of these products, including stroke, liver injury, kidney failure, heart palpitations, and death. 3-15-11

My Hubby, my SIL and their mom ALL have the same nails and break easily and hubby and I have eaten the same foods for over 39 years. Then it's from your genes.

Get a manicure to a good salon, or do them yourself. You can protect them by using one of those plastic gloves. I use gloves often: for chores, gardening, handling papers, going outside during winter, spring & fall, and kitchen, painting, crafting, etc. That way I don't have to wash my hands often.

Are nails meant to be hard or bendy?

Nails aren't supposed to be anything but it's better if they are hard because that means they're stronger and won't break as much.On the other hand, bendy ones are probably weaker and will break a lot. It's better if your nails are harder but you can't really choose so... :D

My nails are bendy and weak. What should i do?

About a month ago i went to the nail shop to get my nails done with my friend who came along with me. The people who did my nails did them very badly it was a woman to start with then a man came do the rest, he did it very badly (they were all different shapes) and he also cut my finger which made a little cut i didn't realize that he cut me at the time until after we left the nail shop. My mum said to me that i should wait and i really do regret it now i wish i had listen to her! the woman DID ask me if my parents knew about it which they did but if i knew it was going to be done badly i wouldn't have done it in the first place. When i went home i showed them to my parents and they were not happy. The next day me and my dad went back to the shop to complain and get our money back at first they hesitated then when the manager came she gave us back £20 and my dad gave me 10 :D but when they removed it they didn't even do it properly they dipped my nails in acetone and filed them off when your suppose to SEPARATE the nail from my natural nail. But about 2 weeks later the glue was still on my nails and about half of my nails are dark light brownish and they are quite bendy:( and my mum and i naturally have strong nails what should i dooo? i bought nail polish remover with acetone to remove the glue which worked but left my nails light brownish , weak , and bendy i do not know weather i should go to a nail shop so they can fix my nails or try something else Im 13 and Im black my nails look normal but up close they are a little bit eww..... Please help Thanks

My nails are thin and weak?

1. Avoid Overexposure to Water
Constantly submerging your nails in water can, paradoxically, dry out your nails. If you spend a lot of time with your hands in water, make sure you protect your hands with gloves wherever possible, and take time to apply a rich hand cream once or twice a day, rubbing it well in to the nails and cuticles. Nail-Aid's Cuticle Cure is made specially for this purpose.

2. Don’t Use Your Nails as Tools
If you must peel off a sticker, unscrew a screw, or remove a splinter, use a tool, not your nails. Repeated exposure to stress can cause the nails to split, tear or peel.

3. File Your Nails, Don’t Saw Them
Rubbing your nails back and forth with a buffer or an emery board causes damage to the nails. When you’re shaping, only drag the emery board in one direction and don’t use too much pressure. Also, avoid using the grinding side of a buffer more than once a month, as this can wear down the surface of nails until they’re very thin (you can use the smooth polishing side as much as you like).

4. Don’t Nibble!
Yes, we know: old habits die hard. But biting your nails really does affect their strength over the long term. You’re not only chomping the nails off with your teeth, you’re also exposing the nails to the water in your saliva over and over again, which, as noted above, really dries out the nails. Find a way to break the habit, and while you’re weaning yourself, use a hand cream daily.

5. Strength From a Bottle
As a supplement to good nail care (leaving them unbitten, gentle shaping, regular moisturizing), you should use quality non-toxic nail treatment formulas to grow, harden, repair, and protect your natural nails. Choose formulas like those from Nail-Aid that are made without toxic and irritating formaldehyde, toluene, and dibutyl phthalate.

My nails grow fast, but they get weak easily?

My nails grow fast, and I've read up on it and that means that I am very healthy. You could say I was sort of proud. But then, I read up on why my nails get very bendy when I get out of the shower. I read that it means I have weak nails, and I read that it means I have a low diet. And I read that it's normal. I know this isn't the best place to ask this question, but what is the real deal with that whole situation?
Long story short, I supposedly have fast growing, healthy nails, but they bendy really easily when I get out of the shower. Is this normal? If not, what does it mean?

How to stop my nails from being so bendy?

My nails are thin and bendy. I have tried biotin to strengthen them to no avail. Nails usually are somewhat bendy, but I can not touch anything without them ripping off. Not breaking, but ripping. Any ideas?

Are there any products that really make your nails stronger and harder?

Assuming your nails are in a healthy state then no, not really. Many nail hardeners on the market use formaldehyde resins to literally dehydrate the nail and make it harder - overuse of these will dehydrate the nail and make them too hard and they will become brittle. The best thing to do is to keep your nails healthy and use cuticle oils to keep them moist and flexible which will ultimately end up making them stronger than "hard" nails would be
