My Puppy Has Eye Boogers

Do your pups get eye boogers?

I think mine might have allergies so I have a vet appointment, but every morning and throughout the day I have to clean the goobers out of their eyes!!! Does anyone else have this problem and how normal is it?

Dog has eye booger, what can i do?

Our dogs always get eye boogers. We just pull them off with out hands in a piece of toilet paper. If its serious, take him/her to the vet or something. If it's green, well I've never seen that. Just take her in for a visit or read some books that involve eye boogers. Hope that helps.

What can I put in dogs eye for eye boogers?

Depends- if yo'ure talking the normal, dark brown eye crud that dogs get, theres nothing you can do but pick it out and don't let it accumulate. If you're talking some kind of abnormal discharge- she may need a vet for drops for an eye infection. Typical eye "boogers" will not make him go blind or harm him.

Eye infection will look like swelling, redness, crustiness, holding the affected eye closed or half-closed, or lots of greenish crud coming out of the corner of the eye. If untreated, an infection can lead to eye problems.

What can cause eye boogers in dogs?

Same thing that causes them in humans. Our eyes need to be lubricated and often when we wake up in the morning we have small amounts of crusts or eye boogers as it has gathered or “pooled” at the corner of our eyes while we sleep. As we can normally feel them, or most shower daily or at least wash their face these are taken care of. But dogs don't have them cleared out every day and have hair for them to stick to.If you clean your dogs eyes regularly they will become less frequent.Unless there is an underlying medical condition. Allergies can cause extra runny or oozing eyes, dry eyes can cause extra hardened stuff to build up etc.Personally I just take a tissue and clean out my dogs eyes when I notice something and I've never noticed any of that red staining. If you have a very white dog, which tends to stain very dark, there are special foods or medications for this.

Why does my dog get so many eye boogers?

Well it's the hair around the eyes. The hair collects dust and mites that causes irritation to the eyes. As a natural defense the eye tends to water to flush out any impurities or debris. This fluid collects at the lowest point, in the corner of the eye due to gravity. If the eye bugger is greenish, yellowish or forms somewhere besides the inner corner of the eye, then that is a sign that it may be and infection or ulcer of some sort. When i put eye drops in my dogs eyes, that eye bugger increases in size as the drops fight the infection and forces the impurities from the eye.

Don't use salt and a paper towel, the roughness of the paper towel will scratch the cornea, by adding salt to the eye you may disrupt the natural pH balance with in the eye possibly drawing more fluid out in the process of dehydrating the eye

Why does my dog all of a sudden have eye boogers?

She never had them before and she is about 2 and a half years old. Its not gross or or wet or anything like an infection, its just a constant tiny string of goober. Well, okay, it is kinda gross, but just a little. :) So i have a couple of theories: It is allergy season, could she have hay fever? Are dogs sensitive to that? or The dog park? We recently made a couple trips... could one of the other dogs have gotten her sick? If anyone has any insight on this it would sure be appreciated! Thanks!

How can eye boogers in dogs be treated?

The suggestions you have received already are good. If the crusting is excessive or asymmetrical (more one eye that other) or if you see redness on the white part of the eye or if the corneas (clear covering) does not look clear, take your friend to the vet to make sure there is not an underlying problem such as a lacrimal drainage obstruction, infection, exposure, or glaucoma, to name a few.

Why does my cat always have eye boogers?

Some animals just naturally have them, but the only way to be sure that there aren’t health issues is to take your cat to the vet. Cats are rather prone to respiratory issues. If the vet says your cat’s health is good, then it’s kind of like humans having sleepies. Flat-faced cats tend to be more prone to them. If it bothers you, you can try moistening the area with a warm wash cloth and gently wiping them off.

Anyone ever heard that if you put a dog's eye booger on your eyes, you're able to see spirits and go crazy?

Hey just wondering. In my native country we have a superstition that basically states that if you put a dogs rheum, or eye booger on your eye's corner, you gain the ability to see ghosts, and as a result you go mad because your mind can't deal. Just wondering if anyone with a different background has ever heard of this. Don't really believe but sounds interesting enough. Apparently it has something to do with a dog's supposed ability to see spirits, but i don't know much more about it.
