My Puppy Is 5 Wks Old And We Have Noticed That He Has A Big Not On The Side Of His Neck What Is

Lumps on both sides of neck of dog?

My neighbor's 8 year old yellow lab has very large lumps on both sides of his neck right on either side of his throat. Since they are even, i have ruled out cancer or a tumor (right?) but he obviously isnt feeling his best, he isnt as excited about things as usual and has not been eating or drinking much at all. what is probably wrong with him? I want her to take the dog to the vet but i'm not sure she wants to since it could be bad and she doesn't want to put him down. any suggestions? the lumps aren't too tender to the touch and they arne't hard, more like the feeling of fruit snacks. (sorry i know its gross) but they are kind of movable and i can like hold them in my hands, so yes they are quite large.

Lump on my 6 month old puppy?

I have a Rhodesian Ridgeback mix puppy who is 6 months old. She just recovered from Pneumonia and is finally active. Now I see that she has a lump on her side. At first it was small, but now it is much bigger...like the size of a gumball.

She got a shot from the vet about a 12 days ago. It is seemingly developing in the area where she got the shot, but I'm not 100% positive of this. The bump didn't show up until about 3 days ago (which is 9 days after the shot).

Maybe it appeared right after the shot but was so little I didn't notice (because she's a big puppy). But it is seemingly growing at a rapid pace. I set up a vet visit for tomorrow, but just wondering if anyone can offer advice.

Can a lump grow 9 days after the shot?

My 5 month old bengal cat has a lump on the right side of his neck?

I have a black cat and she got a black lump on her face. It looked kind of like a black boil but it kept getting larger. I took her to the vet and they biopsied it and drained it. The biopsy came back fine but it filled with the liquid again. We finally had it surgically removed. I thought it might burst

My dachshund puppy's has large swollen glands in his neck.?

Please help. Has anyone experienced this problem. One of my 3 month old dachshund puppies has two large swollen lumps where his lymph glands are in his neck. I noticed it a week ago and then it was only one lump on one side. I took him the vet immediately and she said that she thought it was an abscess from a bite or sting but I couldn't see any originating wound. She sedated him and opened it up but didn't get very much liquid out. She put him on anti inflammatory tablets and antibiotics. Within four days both of the sides of his cheeks had large (about the size of a large quail egg) lumps on both sides. I rushed him back to the vet again. This time they had four vets look at him and none of them know what it is. He does not have any other swollen lymph nodes anywhere else on his body and no other symptoms and he is 99% normal in his behavior. He is one of a family of five dogs, three dachshunds and two retrievers and he is playing, eating, peeing, pooping and sleeping as usual. None of his spunk has gone and his coat and skin and temperature is normal but I just can't imagine that having two huge lumps in his throat isn't affecting him somehow. When I took him back to the vet the second time (Friday) they took a sample of one side and I won't get the results until Monday or Tuesday. However, after they took the sample I did manage to get about a tablespoon amount of liquid out of the side that they took the sample from. Since then, in the last 24 hours, I haven't been able to get anything out of it. He looks like a chipmunk storing nuts for the winter. Despite the humor, I am really worried. Has anyone come across this with their dog before or has ever seen anything like this before? I've worked at a vet clinic and I've had five dachshunds (he's a miniature) and numerous dogs over many years working with a rescue org. but I have never seen anything like it. I use a large well known veterinary clinic and four vets there also didn't know what it was. Does anyone have any idea??? I think he is sleeping a little more than usual but he is still a puppy and I have his sister who sleeps about as much as he does. I would be so appreciative if anyone has experienced this before and could give me some more information. I can't tell you how appreciative I would be.

How long does it take for a collar to get embedded in a dog's neck?

Oh my gosh............poor baby. The embedding took time, and more than just a month. It takes awhile for a tiny puppy's neck to grow. No matter.....it just shouldn't have happened. Can't imagine swallowing with such pain as he must have experienced. Thank you for taking action!!!!

It should take more than a month for "healing"... due to the internal distruction (the part we can't see), the outer skin, hair, neck muscles, and any bleeding that occurred....and abrasions. So, a month for some healing, and even longer for the internal to heal.

Zeeesh.......Sorry to hear this.

ADDITIONAL: I HOPE HE IS MORE THAN FINED. I HOPE HE NEVER EVER GETS THE CHANCE TO BE A DOG OWNER IN HIS LIFE, AGAIN. And, I just wish someone would take on the third dog...can't imagine they take good care of him/her either. Very sad situation that you had to take on and do a very good deed for the lives of those dogs and puppy!!

2ND ADDITIONAL: Makes me wonder how he/they are treating their kids. I pray they never are allowed to have any dogs/cats/etc., ever again.

3RD ADDITIONAL: Poor guy looks matted, skinny/frail, and flea infested............ugh, what sort of human would allow this to happen!?!

Two week old puppy has large lump!!!!?

I recently rescued a pregnant dog that was wandering around walmart 1 week before giving birth. All of the puppies were doing fine for 2 weeks. Yesterday though,I noticed that one of the puppies faces looked very swollen like one side looked bigger than the other so I inspected the side of his neck and he had this HUGE relatively hard lump on the side of his neck and it stretches all the way down to his throat area. He's eating and moving around but he doesn't whimper and cry out like the rest. I can take him to the vet but I want to know if this should be a huge cause for concern or if maybe it'll go like it came. PLEASE HELP!!!

My pet rat has a growth on his neck, what could it be?

You aren't a bad person for not having money, but rats are a pretty high maintenance pet that almost always need vet visits, and if you couldn't afford them you just shouldn't have gotten any. You cannot control your mom getting cancer and you having to support her, but you had a choice to bring a pet into your life. If you don't have the money to care for pets you shouldn't get them in the first place, your rat had no say in the matter and it isn't fair to him.

Without a vet visit there is nothing you can do. It could be an abscess, cyst, or tumor, there's no way to tell just from a picture. For an abscess or cyst it is usually drained and they are given antibiotics to clear up the infection. It is a fairly simple treatment. If it is a tumor the vet could remove it, choose to leave it alone if it is benign, or they could put him down if it becomes very uncomfortable for him. Rats are prey animals and it is in their instincts to not show pain. This growth could be very uncomfortable and painful for him if just left there. Especially if it can be treated easily or if he needs to be put down it is not fair at all that he has to suffer, that growth is getting very large. It could end up blocking his airway or throat, or it could get so large he cannot move well.

I suggest you look around your area for a small animal rescue to see if they will take him in and try to care for him. Or you can try to find him a new home that is willing to treat him.
