My Puppy Will Not Stop Biting Everyone And Everything

My 12 week old kitten will not stop biting everyone. I have tried everything. What now?

Your kitten was far too young to be without her mother but I suppose there was a reason and I think you did a wonderful job of bringing her up from so young.Because of not having a mother though she hadn't the chance to learn how to behave.
Forget ALL punishment, yelling, hitting, blowing, squirting, tapping her nose, all are very unkind and will only make her worse because she will be on the defensive and attack you first.Cats don't understand punishment they just become afraid of you and the problem gets worse Don't look her in the eye, to a cat that is a challenge.
When she goes to bite you don't say a word, I know it's hard and your first reaction is to shout but that does no good.Never play with bare hands with her, always have a cat toy handy, put it gently by her mouth or throw it for her to chase.
I'm sure she does love you, like a mother in fact as you are the only mother she remembers. Think about a little child, when they are naughty you don't punish them, you distract them and you praise them when they are good. You do the same for a kitten. She isn't being bad and she will grow out of it if you are kind and patient.
When she's cuddling in, always keep a soft toy handy to distract her if she comes up to your face.
Make her a kickable sized one out of an old towel, kittens love them and use loads of energy up playing.Just keep her busy, keep distracting her and she will calm down.Always remember to show no reaction, no shouting, she'll soon learn being good earns your praise.
Buy her a tall strong scratching post to exercise on, she'll love that too and cats need to scratch to have healthy muscles.
Good luck, it would be a shame to give up on her now as it's not her fault she missed out on learning how to behave, from her mother.

How do I get a 9-month-old to stop biting everyone and everything?

Give him/her teethers. Poor thing is probably in pain and biting is the only thing that helps. Also, is he/she bites people, say “no, we don’t bite people” and move the body part away from the baby.

My puppy is 3 months old and he is biting everything around. Is it normal?

The same thing that is wrong with every 10 year old child. Hormones are cresting; while he is still a puppy, in just two short months he will be a full blown adolescent. Wow, that went fast, right? He will become more independent and training invested up to now will seem like a lost cause; do not despair, the responses are still in there, but now he knows he can wander away from you and have his own ideas. He is teething his front incisors right now, those tiny little pearls in the very front of his smile. In two months, at six months of age, his fangs will pop out, and his new longer fangs will come down. Then the real teething frenzy is on; he will be shedding and renewing his molars for the next eight months. Freezing his toys will help. Nylabones are furniture savers too. There are three dynamics to watch for in this time. It is not too late to start good training for him. Enroll in a good basic class put on by the local AKC, at Petsmart or through your local Humane Society/animal shelter. It shouldn't cost more than around $100.00 to 150.  Be sure your teacher uses positive reinforcement instead of compulsion (i.e., not leash popping or yanking, no forcing the dog into a sit, etc.).This will give you a better command of your little clown (all pugs are clowns). Be sure to monitor the possibility of a mild bladder infection during teething. This can cause discomfort, errors in housebreaking and possibly the ants-in-his-pants behavior. With teething, the immunosystem is often depressed. He is also in a mild amount of pain--not worth treating--which he will have to deal with. If you put him on any pain medication--much of ours will kill him--he will have other health problems associated, the worst of which may be that he will have to be weaned off of pain meds. These things combined can amount to a change in behavior.Good luck with your adorable pug!

My puppy won't stop biting!?

I just got a Jack Russell puppy and all he does it bite! He's 7 weeks old. I don't mind him being "hyper," but the biting is out of control. You can't even pet him becasue he just starts nawing on your hand. We have a million chew toys and he will chew on them for a while, but it seems he would much rather chew on a hand or ankle or toe. Is this normal or does any one have any advise? Thanks

How do you get a Welsh Terrier puppy to stop biting?

She is just teething, so don't worry! Teaching her not to bite everyone & everything she comes in contact with will take some time, patience, and consistency on your behalf, as well as all those that come in contact with your dog.

When your pup begins to bite your hand (for example), simply remove your hand and place a toy that she can chew in her mouth. Praise praise praise praise praise her for chewing on the RIGHT thing. This is called positive reinforcement, and it really works if you're consistent & patient.

You don't need to be agressive or yell at your pup to get her to stop, just continually correct her bad actions in a calm manner, and praise her when she does the correct action.

Can i stop my samoyed puppy from biting me and chewing everything around?

Get toys and rawhide and stuff for her to chew on instead and when ever she chew on something else or bites you (since she so small) smack her on the nose with your index finger and tell her no in a firm voice and when she gets older and if she's still doing it the you can smack her or flick her on the nose and tell her no more firmly.

When will my puppy stop teething?

Puppies are born teething their baby teeth.
They begin to drop their baby teeth about 3-4 months of age (depending on breed) and aren't usually done cutting their permanent adult teeth until 6 months...provide them with the correct teething tools/toys through these stages, as you don't want to break off their rootless baby teeth with too hard a toy now, but they will need harder things to chew to help facilitate their adult teeth after 4 months.
Don't scold...it's a natural occurrence that can be painful for them...be understanding and supportive, and when you see him chewing on something he's not allowed, exchange it for something he is...encouraging the chewing (it's a positive stress reliever, as well as keeping teeth and gums healthy down the line) but on the proper things. If you can't watch him vigilantly during these stages, he should be crated when you're busy.

How to make my 7 week old bull terrier puppy stop biting?

Do not muzzle her , she is a young puppy and still learning.
How old was she when you got her ? Puppies should not be taken away from the mother till at least 8 weeks . If they are this can lead to some difficulties.

Most young puppies when you first get them will do this . They are teething and playing normally it is in no way an aggressive thing.
She needs to learn bite inhabition . If taken away to young from the litter mates too young this can be something they do not already know.

But they should know basic commands such as sit , stay , no etc . And its your job to teach them , as well as the boundries .
Firstly remember it is normal for her to 'mouth' things . She is a small puppy learning her new environment . Its what they do .
However you need to teach her it is not acceptable to bite humans . When she does this , you and your children must either make a high pitched sound (similar to what the litter mates might make if bitten to hard ) , or a firm NO . Then ignore the pup completely , withdrawing all interaction .
Puppies hate this , and he will soon learn it is unacceptable behaviour .

Good luck

Dont understand human ? Lol of course they dont.
But they should learn all the basic commands such as sit , stay , no etc
Its what makes for a well trained /socialised dog .

My 11 week old Bernese Mountain Dog puppy won't stop biting...?

... everything and everyone- we've given him plenty of chew toys, but this has done little to help. He's beginning to actually leap at us and growl before he bites (in a playful way), but with how large he's already getting (around 19lbs and growing fast!), this is beginning to become unacceptable/dangerous.

Any ideas/similar experiences?

EDIT: to some posters- yes, I am perfectly aware of the fact that puppies biting is normal, but what I'm talking about here is a complete disinterest in anything that doesn't resemble a human body part- he's biting so viciously that he's drawn blood from every member of the family at least once. Just to clarify! =)
