My Retainer Broke Help Me

I broke my retainer :(?

So I used braces until about two years ago. I wore it for two years until my doctor said I don't need it anymore, so she just gave me retainer. After that, I was supposed to come (to control) every 6 months. But I just came once to control the retainer. BUT, I always wore my retainer everyday at least during sleep. Until yesterday, when I accidentally broke my lower jaw retainer :( Actually, my teeth haven't moved so much.
Now what should I do? Should I go to my dentist again? Do you think I need to wear braces again?

What to do about a broken retainer?

If you have been wearing your retainer regularly, your teeth may not be as crooked as you may think. A retainer is not always needed to be worn indefinitely. I recommend putting one in every 3 months for up to 8 hours. If the teeth are tender, that's a good indication that the teeth have moved some. If that is the situation, you should wear your retainer for about a month.

BROKEN RETAINER: Make an appointment with your orthodontist to have him look at it. Often times their lab can repair a broken retainer. It will all depend on where and how it is broken. If your orthodontist is not willing to take a look at it, ask your General dentist to. He may be able to send it to his lab to have it fixed.
CROOKED TEETH: If your teeth are not very crooked, the wire on your retainer can actually be slowly adjusted by your orthodontist to straighten them.
Hope this is of help to you.

I broke my retainer! How do I tell my mother?

Tell her the truth and call ur orthodontist asap b/c if you don't get one that is perfect your teeth are going to shift. they will have to take another impression of how your teeth are now instead of the perfect ones you had when your braces were taken off. The sooner you get it replaced the better. By the time you go to your retainer check your teeth will probably have shifted more than you want. Yeah its expensive to replace but since it's only 1 retainer it should be half the cost. Trust me, your mom would probably rather spend money on a new retainer now because she spend thousands of dollars to make your teeth perfect, instead of all that money spent and then you hide what happened and let your teeth start to shift. just 1 night of not wearing your retainer your teeth will shift!

OMG! I broke my retainer! My mom is gonna kill me! Help me!?

Poppet unless your MUM, is some kind of Ogre, She will understand. We all have accidents and break things. I am sure this can be easily put to rights.Stop worrying, tell her as soon as possible and if you get pocket money say you'll help toward the cost. I'm sure everything will be fine.

Help! my retainer broke.. but im scared to tell my parents?

Hey..
i had braces for about 2 years, then after i got a retainer.
Top and bottom. Im suposed to wear them all day and night, apart from when i eat of course.
But, i always play with the bottom one in my mouth, just kindof automatically..
but now the little iron part that goes around my teeth snapped
this has already happened once before, and my parents got supermad.
They said if it happens again, i would have to pay for it myself..
but i dont have that much money! and i dont wear it as much as im supposed to,
so my parents are already kindof mad at me about that..

so, is there any way i can fix it myself?
ive tried superglue, but that doesnt work.

Or, how do you think i should tell them?

thankss:)

I am wearing retainer for 3 years and now it's broke off. Should I replace my retainer with new one or it is OK to be without retainer?

Hi .. Retention is usually based on the original problem (malocclusion), you had and the quality of final results achieved .. It can be either fixed or removable or both .. Both have their own sets of advantages and disadvantages ..Generally, fixed retainer (a fixed wire behind your teeth) is used in cases where long term retention is needed .. It is so because of tendency of certain malocclusions to have a tendency to recur, for eg. if the original problem was a midline diastema (gap between the upper central incisors), or severe crowding in lower incisors, etc .. It can also be used, if the treatment results are less than optimal, and support is needed to maintain the teeth in the current position ..If you had such an issue, it's best to get it fixed ..Removable retainers are usually used for most cases, and ideal wear time is 6–8 months full-time wear, 6–8 months night time wear and then continue alternate night time wear for upto a year (based on various factors) .. This is usually enough ..In relatively average economic regions, doctor and patients can't always afford the fixed retainer, hence the Orthodontist may ask the removable retainer to be worn during sleep for a lifetime ..Basically you need to figure out what is most relevant to you from the above, and act accordingly ..If you have any further questions, feel free to leave a comment ..Take care..Hope this helps ..

How am I going to tell my parents I broke my retainers?

I broke it like 2 weeks ago on vacation im back now andi know im gonna need to tell my mom so she can scheldule an appointment but i don't know how. I broke it cause sometimes my tongue pushes my bottom retainer up and that happened and my sister was on top of me and i started grinding my teeth and it snapped off. it was just the the part for one tooth tho like my retainers went up to the space between my molar and the tooth before it and now it's just up to a quarter of my tooth the one before my molar. Will something happen if i continue to waer it like this and how do i tell my mom. I already lost it 2 months ago and my dentist had to remake it for me and when i lost it 2 months ago i had only had it for a week. UHHHH I DONT KNOW WHAT TO DO IM FREAKING OUT! MY MOM IS NOT UNDERSTANDING!

Urgent!!! retainer broke how fast do teeth shift?

It depends, some people's teeth move faster than others, and everyone's different. In general though, if you miss a week or so on your retainer, your teeth may shift slightly, but nothing that the retainer itself can't fix. If you're going this Friday you should be totally fine, just make sure they know you don't have a retainer, they'll be able to give you more specific advice to you.

Until then, you should be totally fine. Good luck!

What can I do if my retainers broke and my parents aren’t willing to pay for new ones?

How did they break and how long have you had them? I offer a guarantee on my retainers. If they break through carelessness, though, I charge full price—which is far, far less than what the orthodontist charges. I’d go to the orthodontist and your parents to work out a payment plan.
