Why won't my sd card load on to my computer?

A lot of things could be wrong.
1. The SD card could be corrupt. If you could view the pictures on your camera, then the card is fine.
2. The drivers for the SD card reader could be corrupt or disable. Go to Device manager (right click my computer, properties, hardware, device manager) and look for the SD reader to make sure the drivers aren't disable or missing.
3. The SD card could be locked. on the side of the SD card there may be a little notch that locks your SD card.

Next, follow the message that prompts7. Receiving this error: This device cannot start. Code 10. How do I fix this?

Go into Device Manager, delete the device. Reboot the computer. Allow it to find and install the default driver. If no driver is found automatically, THEN run your downloaded driver. Reboot again. Test it.

If that fails. Delete the driver again. Open up your computer and disconnect the SD card reader from the motherboard. Reboot the computer. Then turn it off, reconnect the SD reader and boot it up, repeating the first steps I gave you.

Let me know if it fails, there are other things to be done in that case.

*edit*
I didn't ask but are you perhaps running Windows Vista?

Ok did a bit or research. Do me a favor and at the run box, type services.msc and then scroll down to look at "Portable Device Enumerator Service" and make sure it's not disabled. If it's in manual, set it for automatic and then reboot. MY problem was I missed the part where you said your CD Rom wasn't working either when you put a disk in.
