My Seagate 1tb Keeps Showing A Error Can I Start As If Was New

Seagate Free Agent Desk 1000GB Error?

I have a problem with my new Seagate FreeAgent Desk 1000GB, P/N: 9ZC2AG-500, S/N: 2GEYMJP8. Basically the unit was working fine for a while, but suddenly after a long holiday it is not recognized by the CPU as an external drive. The power seems to be on and off, it also gives unusual clicking noise. It was recognize only once after being plugged into another CPU; however, most of the data are missing – though it says that the The unit is stored in vertical (standing) position on its stand. Please advice.

My Seagate external hard disk makes a beeping sound whenever I connect it to my laptop. What's the problem?

First of all you should do SMART TEST for your Seagate Hard Disk.Download for your OS from the link belowSeaTools | SeagateInstall and run the software and then run SMART test for your HDD.It will detect most of the problems for your HardDisk.Second the beeping problem you are referring to happens when your Hard Disk lifecycle is about to end. Here is the graph for the lifecycle of the Hard Disks:-It seems that hard drives have three distinct failure “phasesn the first phase, which lasts 1.5 years, hard drives have an annual failure rate of 5.1%. For the next 1.5 years, the annual failure rate drops to 1.4%. After three years, the failure rate explodes to 11.8% per year. In short, this means that around 92% of drives survive the first 18 months, and almost all of those (90%) then go on to reach three years.Graph source :- EXTREME TECH.

Why is my Seagate Backup Plus external hard drive not showing or detecting on my PC? Should I format it as I don’t have very important data?

Connection problem, virus infection, file system corruption, damaged MBR and bad blocks or sectors are all possible causes for an external hard drive not detected by a operating system. You can definitely format the drive if that is the problem. For example, the external drive does not show up in Windows File Explorer yet Disk Management sees it. Just initialize or format the drive in Disk Management (run diskmgmt.msc to start). However, other causes seem also the possible reason. For all the solutions, please refer to external hard drive not initialized.

Seagate 1TB external hard drive problem?

1]
This problem maybe occurring because the system is, for some reason, looking at the external hard drive as a possible boot device and because there is no operating system installed on it, you get the error.
Go into the BIOS [normally by pressing "delete" or F2 during POST on a Sony Vaio] and navigate to the "Boot" section and then select "Boot Device Priority" option. If the option to "boot from removable device" is enabled then disable it and save the changes, exit the BIOS and reboot. This should stop the system looking at any USB drives as a possible boot device.

2]
Also this error has been reported by others if you have more than one "active" partition marked on a hard drive connected to your system. To check this, go to Control Panel > Administrative Tools > Computer Management and select "Disk Management" from the lefthand menu.

When the drive information loads, check in the listing that only a single partition on your main system drive is marked as "Active" included in the description. Check that no partitions on other connected drives, particularly the new Seagate USB drive are marked as "Active" also.

***Updated****

Forgot to tell you how to get rid of the "active" partition, if it is showing on the entry for Seagate Drive

Open up a command prompt and type DISKPART.

Type LIST DISK
Type SELECT DISK n (where n is the number of the Seagate USB drive)
Type LIST PARTITION
Type SELECT PARTITION n (where n is the number of the active partition you wish to make inactive)
Type INACTIVE
Type EXIT to exit DISKPART
Type EXIT again to exit the command prompt
Reboot

If you still have a problem after changing settings in the BIOS [as above], "Invalid Partition Table" error can sometimes be down to a corrupt MBR [Master Boot Record] on your internal system drive. Although the fact that this error only started occurring only after you started connecting a new USB drive, makes this unlikely.

Why is my Seagate backup not working?

So I bought a new Seagate backup thing yesterday and it is not backing up my files. It is currently stuck at 7% and has been like this for hours already. I have done what the instruction manual said (i.e. installing the seagate dashboard) and i am only backing up my d drive. What is the problem and how do i fix it???????

Windows was unable to save all the data for the file F:\$Mft. Error?

This error occurs if the connection from the drive and computer suddenly drops or disconnected from the computer. Usually from a loose cable connection.

Just try to remove and reconnect the drive. And if possible try different USB ports to connect it to. Like; if you always connect your drive from the front USB ports, then use the back.

How do I fix a 1 TB Seagate hard disk all by myself? It fell down from my hand and is making a clicking sound. It also doesn't get detected by the computer.

In the ten or so years I have been servicing computers only once has the first fix below worked. It did run long enough to back up. Nothing was missing (apparently). I don't know if the drive worked after as we disposed after back up. The drive may have only been revived from a better cable connection and this technique may have been a coincidence. Also tryBtw did you double check the cabling and not just assume the drop damaged the drive. I did once have a dust flake in the drive pins stop a drive from working. This 'patch' was not from a dropped drive but a drive that stopped working for no reason. The clicking sound was observed in this drive.  This is assumed to be a non destructive approach that may work. This is not a fix but a patch. This is one of the Hail Mary techniques. Remember to be ready to access the data quickly the opportunity to collect the desired data may only present for a moment in time. The fixConnect the drive outside of the computer and just as the power comes on to the drive, twist the drive sharply in the opposite direction of drive platter rotation. The action is all in the wrist and keep the drive horizontal. Make sure the cable length allows sufficient room for the maneuver. Yeah I remember my first drive failure. It was more horrendous then my second. Back up early back up often. Good luck and thank the diety of your choice.

My NEW hard drive says "Boot Test Failed. Error Code 3F0". WHY?

I just installed a brand new (yet old) hard disk drive in my HP Pavilion Home Premium desktop computer. I say "yet old" because the hard drive was manufactured in 2008. But it was still factory sealed. I just opened it.

This new hard drive is a Seagate. SATA. 3.5" Barracuda. 1TB. 32MB cache. 7200 RPG. All the exact same as the original hard drive that my computer came with when I first bought it. I was told that this hard drive would still work, and that I just had to do a couple things differently in order for my computer to acknowledge it.

My computer is a Windows 7. Every time I turn it on, it goes to a black screen with a bunch of random information about patents, and a blinking cursor following the words "Error: No boot disk has been detected or the disk has failed".

When I start up while holding the F2 button, it goes the System Diagnostics screen. This is some of what it says....

Product: p7-1108p

Testing:
CPU
CPU Test - Passed

Hard Drive Connection Test - Passed

Boot Test - Failed Error Code 3F0

Memory Test - Passed

So apparently the hard drive is connected properly. But why isn't it booting? Why can't my computer recognize it?

How do I fix my Seagate Backup Plus 1TB External Hard Disk?

My guess is bad sectors on the HD1. click start and type “cmd” and hit enter2. type: chkdsk d: (change the “d” to whatever drive letter the disk is)let that run and it will attempt to fix certain errorsThe rebootNextclick start and type “cmd” again and hit entertype: sfc /scannowThis will scan for bad sectors and mark any that are bad to not use.You may not be able to recover files inside these sectors, but at least it will not continue causing problems. Finally, make sure at this point that anything on that drive is backed up elsewhere, because it’s probably only a matter of time before it completely fails.
