Getting puppy with a 3 month old?
I don't have a three year old but I do have a German Shepherd who is 2yrs old now. I guess it would depend on how much patience you have, energy and time. He had to be walked a bunch the first 4 weeks we had him after that he was pretty well potty trained but still had to be walked around 5 times a day. When he was around 5 months and on he only needed to be walked 3x a day. They're super smart dogs and fairly easy to train if you have the time of course. I'd say in a about a month I had all the basic training commands down and didn't start training him till he'd been with us a month (spent the first month solely on potty training). One thing to watch out for is the chewing, he chewed up so so so much stuff we didn't even think he'd bother with! I definitely recommend crate training it will make your life so much easier! I say go for it since you say your daughter is doing really well routine wise. It'll be stressful but that part will be over quick and your daughter will so love having a puppy =) (They're fantastic protectors)
I believe my 11 week old Merle Chihuahua Puppy is Deaf - Pic included?
I just adopted her on Tuesday. I had asked her breeder before if she could hear and see & she said yes that she had been to the vet & been given a clean bill of health. Well I paid $300 for her - she is not akc and I think the breeder might be a back yard breeder but I thought the puppy looked sooo sweet & I wanted to give her a good home. On her online add she had said she was the 'ugly one' which broke my heart =( I think she is precious. Anyways...I have been calling her name, and I did some at home hearing tests and I don't think she hears anything! We jingled keys, clapped our hands, and squeaked a loud squeaky toy behind her ear & she just slept through it! I feel so bad for her!! I don't know what I should do. I nicely emailed her breeder and told her...but I dunno what would you do?! I don't want to return her like a shirt & god only knows what would happen to her, the lady was very nice but I mean she called her ugly so whos to say what she would do with her. I do have a toddler & I don't know if its safe to have a deaf dog and kids? So far they get along amazingly!! She is healthy in every other way and runs around and plays and is very loving and sweet. Any thoughts on this would be appreciated. Thank you.
