My Sims 2 Game keeps crashing how can I fix this?

The first thing to do is to right-click on the your Downloads folder and choose Cut. Now go to your computer's Desktop, right-click, and choose Paste. This will physically move your Downloads folder to your Desktop, preventing the game from reading any of the files in it.
In addition to the Downloads folder, your SavedSims folder may also contain custom content that can cause problems with the game. You need to also remove it as well. You'll find it where you found your Downloads folder in My Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2. Do the same thing to it as you did to the Downloads folder. Now both folders are on your desktop, try loading your game.
If you the game works fine without your custom content then the problem is likely within one of the two folders you removed - Downloads or SavedSims.
Complete and easy to follow instructions on how to find the problem files can be found here:http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content#First_Things_to_Try

If your game is still crashing you might need the Freetime patch from the official site. http://thesims2.ea.com/update/getpatch.php?appVersion=1.13

If the game is still crashing after being patched, then the problem probably exists inside your user files. An easy-to-follow guide to testing without user files can be found here: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:User_Files-Remove_All_User_Files

Help please! My Sims 2 Pets keeps crashing!?

It's probably the custom content that's causing the problem. Try pulling your downloads folder and your saved sims folder out of the game files and onto your desktop. Once you've done that, try to play again. If it plays fine now, that means that you have something in one of those folders causing a problem.

To try to fix this, go back into the game folders and create a new, empty Saved Sims folder first. Now slowly put files from the one on your desktop back into this newly created folder. Just move one or at most two items in at a time, going back into your game to make sure those items are not causing a problem. Continue this until you have checked them all.

Now create a new, empty downloads folder and repeat the process.

It's long and tedious, but it's either that or delete those two folders, make new empty ones and start downloading new custom content making sure it is made to work correctly with Pets.

Why does my Sims 2: double deluxe game keep crashing after i play it for a minute or two?

Do you have an NVidia graphics card? If yes, while still in neighborhood view and before you enter a house enter the cheat boolprop useshaders false. You will no longer see fish in fishtanks but entering this cheat solves crashing caused by having an NVidia graphics card. You will need to enter the cheat every time you start the game or you can put it into a userstartup.cheat file so that it's always active.

Lots of custom content can cause crashing, too. If you use a lot of custom content in your houses and on your sims your graphics card can get overloaded and cause a crash. Try getting rid of some of your more graphics-intensive custom content.

You might also have a "bad" piece of custom content. Try taking out your Downloads folder and put it somewhere safe. If the game still crashes, then it could be the shaders problem and you need to use the cheat. If it no longer crashing, then the crashing is most likely caused by custom content. Split the files in half and try putting half back. If it works and doesn't crash, put that somewhere safe (like an "OK" folder) and put back the other half of the content. If it crashes, halve that lot of content and keep putting back and halving until you track down the culprit. If it doesn't crash again, then it may just be an excess of custom content causing the crash.

If you’ve recently installed some content and it has caused your game to stop working, remove that first and see if it helps.Failing that, try to find a log file to see if it threw any readable error messages when your game crashed. That may help you isolate the culprit. If you’re still not sure which mod is causing the issue at all, try the 50% method: try half of your custom content, then the other half, and see if either half doesn’t run. Then divide the problem half into halves again.Of course, if there is no single mod that’s causing the problem, there could be one of a few different problems going on:Two or more mods you’ve got put together may not like to cooperate. It may not be which mods you’ve got installed, but how many - your game could be running out of memory, or unable to index that many mods.It could be your saved game (neighborhood in The Sims), rather than any of your mods, that is causing the issue. Try starting a new saved game.Good luck figuring it out.

My Sims Deluxe Edition game keeps crashing.. help?

i downloaded the Sims Deluxe Edition. i've downloaded it on this computer before and it worked perfectly fine. though, that was a long time ago.. i uninstalled it after a week. but now, even though it's installed, it won't run. it takes me up to this: http://i3.tinypic.com/6pi0oox.png (the part where it shows me it's loading) then it just goes blank and nothing happens.. the screen just disappears and takes me to my desktop. i don't understand why it's happening.. help? please?

+ i tried to redownload, but it didn't work..

Why Does My Sims 2 Keep Crashing/Terminating.?

The answer is really simple. Something you have downloaded is causing a conflict and is making your game crash. It could be that the item is badly made, incompatible with your version of the game, or incompatible with something else you have downloaded. Whatever it is, once you identify it and remove it, your game will run perfectly again.

To test what I just said, remove (don't delete) your Downloads folder. Drag it to your desktop so the game can't read the contents. Chances are your game isn't crashing anymore, right? So it's something in that folder causing the problem.

To find out what it is see this guide: http://www.sims2wiki.info/wiki.php?title=Game_Help:Finding_Problem_Custom_Content

NB: the majority of game problems are caused by custom content. That doesn't mean that you shouldn't add custom content to your game, but in the future maybe only add things one at a time. Then if you have problems, you'll know straight away what caused it and you can quickly identify and remove the bad file.

My sims 2 game crashes when I try to open a lot?

The exact thing happened to me when I downloaded a vending machine from modthesims2.com .One or a few of your custom content must be effecting it.
When you turn on the sims 2, it will tell you all the custom content you have put into the game. Go down the list and if it has a yellow triangle beside it, it means its dangerous. Write down all of these that have a warning on them on a piece of paper. Then quit the game.Search all the things you wrote down on your computer and delete them. Your game should work then properly.
Another thing you could do is download the sims 2 custom content manage. It is made by Maxis and you can download it here http://thesims2.ea.com/getcoolstuff/cont... and its free. When you install press on the triangle warning sign and delete everything thats there. This is easier than the first way.
Hope this all works!!!!

Why does my Sims 2 game crash when loading an empty lot?

Laptop is getting full with memory which causes things to crash and load alot slower. The best thing for you to do is gather up your sims games along with the serial codes and reboot the computer:

Start
All programs
Accessories
System tools
System restore ( to the first day you got it )

If you dont want to do this due to loss of files click on

Start
All programs
Accessories
System tools
Disc cleanup

It takes away all of the un-needed waste of space and gives you more space which enables a quicker computer.
