My Sister And I Will Backpack Europe For A Month Next Summer. Where Should We Go

How much money would it be for me to go to Europe for a month?

It really depends upon where you stay and what you plan on doing. If you plan to use trains, planes, etc. you should speak with your travel agent and see what types of package deals can be created for the two of you during the high point of the season. If you get your museum passes and train tickets prior to leaving the U.S. you shall save a few hundred dollars and if you eat where the locals eat you shall save even more. Rick Steves, Foder's, and The Lonely Planet all offer great guides for getting the most out of the money spent. There are also a number of websites such as cheaptickets.com which can help you out as well. Right now though with the dollar rapidly dropping in relation to the dollar it would be best to exchange your dollars for Euro's as soon as possible in order to get the best rates. All the countries you've mentioned, except England use Euro's. As for cost, I'd say roughly $3,500 to $4000 each including flights and being very cost effective since you're going during the high point of the season. $4,600 to $5,600 if you want to make it just a little bit nicer. Believe me when I say this, it's important to have a good comfortable place to sleep with a decent bathroom.

When I was last in Europe not too long past, I spent roughly $7000 for a month's holiday, and that was during the low season.

Discuss all this with a travel agent though, and for London here's a sight you might that might prove helpful; it's londontown.com.

What should I pack to my month long trip to Europe next summer??

So Iḿ going on a 31 day trip to Europe next summer, and I´m only allowed two bags, and i will be walking everyday out and about. There will be no laundromats or washers/dryers in the hotels. I don know what to bring?? Like I won´t have enough space to pack appropriately I don´t even know where to begin packing! Please any suggestions??

My daughter wants to backpack around Europe after graduating from College in 2017. I am very worried about her safety, and should I let her do it?

I think its good that you are thinking about it in 2016The preparedness of an independent journey is different for people of different cultures so i don't know if a generic Yes answer and need for independence and exploration is enough. I am considering the scenario of backpacking for dummiesI would say, start now with smaller independent trips by herself without depending on anyone to make arrangements unless thats already something she does in which case, you can observe how well she does itThis can extend to weekends and longer outing in familiar country/locations all by herself (or with friends but no one specifically taking care of her) that will expose her to chalk out (what to pack) where to stay, what to do, things to see/experience in a new place all by herself. Dealing with people, talking to strangers where required (to arrange things or for information) as well as where its completely by choiceBudgeting the trips and knowing how much is required to stay, eat and how much to spend on entry fees, permits and shopping (even for souvenirs) will definitely help Familiarity with travelling abroad with airports, passport, visa aspects directly or by learning just by reading up or talking to people will also make it easyBackpacking is a very generic term, ask her to think about it in more detail and make plans (several plans in fact on different possible options) on what route to take, where to stay, how long to stay - all hypothetical of course. The actual trip may go differently but having explored many options of how it can go will help her enjoy the trip better & make the best of itEncourage her to budget the trip, start saving from now onwards so that she can be more committed to make best of the experienceEurope is one of the safest places, most cities have good public transport, its well connected by road/rail, has reliable hostel network/bed and breakfasts, tourist guide information centres and well populated with good police and other safety infrastructure that are accessible. If you want to try backpacking, its probably the safest place to start off even if you can speak only EnglishSo in general, if anxiety is the only obstacle, you should not only let her do it but be excited about it and help her plan

How do I get funding for traveling? I am planning a 6 months backpack trip. What kind of organisations do you target? What do you offer in return?

I recently spent 5 months hiking the Pacific Crest Trail - funded via personal savings. I toyed with the idea of “funding” it alternatively, but didn’t find anything in time - decided to hike about three months out. That said, funding your entire trip via someone else’s dollar will be extremely difficult if you don’t have a massive social following or a current relationship with someone willing to support your trip… so go into this with the right expectations. Partial support is the closest you’ll likely get. Here’s where you can start / some ideas, if you’re just jumping in…Guest posting for websites / blogs related to your trip - sites need content and you could be a source of some great writing, photos, etc. Start reaching out to sites now… wouldn’t be ridiculous to get $100+ an article depending on their current level of traffic / method of monetization.Reach out directly to brands that you’d use or interact with daily on your trip - gear + food would be the two to focus on. Contact them and see if there’s an opportunity be an ambassador for free gear, food, or compensation in exchange for written/photo content for their site/blog.Start a YouTube channel so people can follow your trip… may bring in a few dollars here and there via monetization + allow you to start more brand / website conversation (proves you have content people like).Start a kickstarter and promise to make a coffee table book, calendar, etc. > something in exchange for a donation… ideally amounts greater than the cost to make said item. I see nothing wrong with this. That’s all I can think of right now. Again, not easy. You’ll have to provide some value - content, a service, a product - in return for funding. Backpacking/traveling around Europe. Please help!?

Hi everyone!

So, traveling is a passion that runs deep in my blood. Lol. And I've always wanted to go to Europe. So, I have decided that after I graduate college, which will be next year, I am going to backpack or travel around Europe for about two weeks. My sister may be coming with me, but if not, then I'm going at it alone.
I just have no idea how to start planning this. Or the places to go while in Europe. I know that I definitely want to see the Eiffel Tower...it's been something that I've dreamed of ever since I was a little girl. But what are some other must-see places? How should I go about planning this? How much money do you think it will cost?

Thanks!

I am planning to visit Europe and hope to visit Berlin, Prague, Switzerland and Madrid. Will a budget of INR 2 lakh suffice?

Hello!Where there is a will, there is a way!Let's try and plan your trip! (I should probably be charging you for this :-P You can pay me in Quora credits for now :-P)OK, you haven't given me a lot of information, so I shall make the following assumptions: You are planning to travel from July 1st to July 15th, 2015.To reduce costs, you will have to minimise your travel by flight. http://www.aeroflot.ru/cms/ru/bo...DEL-SXF and MAD-DEL seems a good deal.Travel from Switzerland to Madrid by flight, and the rest of travel within Europe by bus/train. BlaBlaCar is an option too. Use skyscanner.net to find the cheapest flight tickets.Stay in hostels for travellers. Many have open kitchens. Cook your food if possible.Or try couchsurfing if you are comfortable. You might even be offered a meal by your host. Travel light. Plan most of your travel in advance.I'm sure you will be able to make it in 2.5 lakh INR.Will keep adding more links and information.Do checkWhich is the cheapest country in Europe for an Indian backpacker on a shoe string budget? What are the must-sees in Madrid, Spain?Have fun!Edit: Do read Nakul Jamadagni's answer to How do people travel around the world if they're not rich?
