My Sister Has Been Sick For Months And Doctors Cant Seem To Gind A Cause

My daughter is sick and unwilling to eat anything...?

If she is running a fever and throwing up she is not fine. Although if the time period has been short and the fever is low then she may just not feel well. Like adults babies can have headaches, earaches, upset stomach for no reason. This usually will pass in 24 hours, but if 2 days has gone by like this I would demand further testing from the doctor.
Try to get her to drink Gatorade that is clear or light color, water, or some other clear re-hydrating liquid and let her gnaw on saltine crackers when ever she feels like it (maybe even dipped in chicken noodle soup). Is she pulling at any part of her body? Ear, hair, face even? Signs such as these will usually tell you what is bothering them. You may want to give her a tad bit of Motrin, not even a dose, just like a quarter of a dropper full. This usually helps them rest until they feel better again.
Keep steady watch on her until she is feeling better and the fever has subsided, you shouldn't assume that cause she is resting she can not get worse. Doctors are not always right, but they can not always know.
Start her off light when she wants to try to eat again, soup with mostly broth is usually best. Just do not let her get dehydrated, surely the doctor told you something similar. I had a little girl too, and helped with my sister's for the first few months and the experience is familiar.
I hope she feels better soon! Follow up OK!

Are medical doctors usually able to tell whether a patient is genuinely sick or just pretending to be sick?

This reminds me.I am a pediatrician. I once saw a 16 year old boy with vomiting. Explosive vomiting. He had been seen repeatedly in the ER with no resolution. He came to see me. He was not my regular patient nor my colleagues ‘. Just a new patient. He didn’t particularly look dehydrated for someone with this extensive history. He started heaving and retching in my office. I had to run all the way to the utility room to get the vomit bowl. He could hold it until I got back which was remarkable.Anyway I thought there is a possibility this was a conversion reaction. But from experience we rule out somatic disease . So I admitted him to the hospital to observe farther. We still could not find a cause in the hospital. We decided to refer him to a GI specialist to scope him. I did mention to his mother that it could be psychological and might also need a referral to a psychiatrist. Mom was outraged at this suggestionLo and behold the endoscopy uncovered a small ulcer in the gastric mucosa and so eureka! The problem is solved. The gastroenterologist prescribed an antacid. There was prompt relief. And mom swore at Me .I was suspicious because the response was so immediate. He took one dose and it all resolvedAfter a couple of months the gastroenterologist sent me a progress report that the patient had returned because he missed one dose and now it has recurred. He was beginning to wonder at how it can recur after missing just one dose. Anyway the mother had sworn off me. I was out of the picture.A month or so later he was back visiting the ER. The residents told me the boy would interrupt the mother and kept saying Dr Lwin(me ) says it was psychological ,but the mom kept shutting him down.So there it goes. Its very hard to bring up psychological problems as an underlying problem.

My brother is always sick?

Time to start educating yourself. Get on-line and start researching high, persistent fever and see
what is out there. It is possible that he has a food allergy that raises his temperature. Start
tracking what he eats and then take his temperature about 20 minutes after he eats. If he starts
getting a fever again note what he ate and wait 24 hours and try that food again. If you get the
same results then take this information to an allergists and get him tested. Good luck.

I'm 5 months pregnant, and i didn't even know.... A little help!!?

Well, first of all, if you know that you are five months along, you have probably already been seen by an OBGYN. He would have told you if there were any obvious problems.

If you have not already been to the Dr., schedule an appointment. They will do an ultrasound and blood tests and all that fun stuff to make sure that you and the baby are doing ok. At this time you may address any concerns you may have.

In the meantime, just remember that everyone is different when they are pregnant. Some women don't even start to show until the seventh month of pregnancy! It all just depends on how your body carries the baby. Every woman is also different when it comes to signs and symptoms of pregnancy. Consider yourself lucky that you are already past the morning sickness stage without ever having to experience it.

(I had a friend who also didn't find out that she was pregnant until she was around 5 or 6 months. She also had no signs or symptoms. Hardly any weight gain. She was also worried because she was still smoking and drinking as usual, and had a physically strenuous job. Her baby was born with no problems, and he is now a happy, healthy 7 month old baby boy! -So no, you are not alone.)

Good luck and congrats!

What are the best excuses for being absent from school?

If you are school student and missed a few classes because of some reasons like attending a marriage function or went for a family tour abroad or even just got bored of school, you can obviously write these excuses in your apology letter or email. But, these excuses can backfire and, so it is often a better way to write excuses that are close to reality and likely to be accepted by the concerned teacher. Here is a list of best reasonable excuses that you can use for being absent from school:Dentist appointment/Doctor Visit: You can state that you have got a terrible toothache or swollen mouth and the dentist appointment got delayed because of the crowd in the clinic. It is normal that such appointments take more time than scheduled.Illness: Common cold, stomach pains, fever, headache, diarrhea are some of the common illnesses that can be mentioned as excuse and a letter from the doctor can be attached to make it look more real.Food poisoning: Most people might use common illnesses and you cannot mention the same if you have used it earlier, as it would cause suspicion and further questions. Food poisoning is often treated as a valid excuse in schools.Car Troubles: Flat tire, engine problem, Brake repair are some of the common problems that can be mentioned as excuse. If it’s winter, then frozen engine or car is also a valid reason that can be said if you are living in snowy region. No Conveyance: An excuse that there are only limited buses or vehicles that take you to school and you have missed them can be used as a reason for absence.Family Emergency: Saying that your parents have left you alone or taken you somewhere because of a family emergency is always an acceptable excuse.Traffic Jam: If you are staying in metro cities or highly crowded areas, there would be lots of traffic at peak hours and this saying that traffic jam has made you reach the school very late thus missing a couple of classes. It’s one of the most accepted excuses in schools. But, please make sure to not do it all the time as it would the teacher. If all of these above reasons seem inadequate, you can check out more excuses to miss school here.
