My Sisters Dog Is Not Acting Normal

Is it normal that my dog likes cats and not dogs?

Completely. Many dogs and cats adore each other, just make sure they both get the same amount of attention.

Why do dogs seem to dislike certain people at first sight for no obvious reason?

I had a female Pit Bull named Sentia. Sentia liked every human she met her entire life, except ONE. My friend/roommate invited a guy she was dating to the house one day. Sentia went with me to answer the door. I could tell by her body language that she was put off by him. I didn’t see anything particularly alarming about his posture, gaze, etc and I turned to the side to let him in. As he stepped toward the door, Sentia moved in front of me and gave just a little growl. I said “Wow, NO” and held her collar to bring her to my side to let him in. He stepped toward the door again and she lunged forward (with my hand in her collar, ouch!) and very clearly threatened to attack him. At that point I said “look man, I don’t know you but I know my dog and if she says you can’t come in, I’m not comfortable bringing you in.” My roommate was very upset with me. She dated him for a few months and he turned out to be very abusive with morbid jealousy issues. At one point he was threatening to burn down my house because she broke up with him. As far as I’m concerned, Sentia knew something that I didn’t!

Why is my female dog always trying to hump my other female dog?

There is probably an association with dominance, but if there is it’s not straightforward. For example, we have owned 9 dogs, 2 males and 7 females. Most of the 7 never ever humped, and the only bitch (female) addicted to humping was one of the most submissive we’ve owned. She simply got the urge to do it.She mainly devoted herself to my wife’s leg, but over the years I saw her hump several other dogs. Most of them must have been dominant with respect to her, if there was any difference in status; but some still tolerated it, for a short while at least. Every dog is an individual, and interactions between them are complex; keep observing and talking to other dog owners.Dogs are fascinating, and after all these years they still surprise me, regularly. If you look at my answers from a month ago you’ll see one about my dog picking blackberries from a bush and eating them; I’d never seen that before.

Dog ate something she shouldn't have.?

For starters I've already phoned the vet and they said to just keep an eye on her and if her situation changes to bring her in. And my apologies for being a little 'graphic' in my details . . .
My dog ate a pack of my sister's cigarettes. Yes, my dog pulled the purse off a table after we had gone to bed and scrounged thru to find them, so please do not think this was in any way intentional. And I'm still angered at sis for not keeping such things zipped inside her purse!
However, anyone ever have this happen? What was the outcome? As near as we can figure she could have eaten about 10 cigarettes.
So far she has been eating & drinking normally. No vomitting but she has developed diarhea. Vet said that is to be expected but if she vomits or stops eating/drinking I should bring her in.

My dog ate a sock!?

I think as long as your dog is acting normal and you stay in contact with your vet you are doing the right thing. If I took my dog to the vet every tim he ate something like that I would be out of a home! It is amazing what they can eat and pass through. My experience is 2-3 days is when you will find your sock! But I would suggest throwing it away!!!! Ha Ha!!

Dogs anus is very tight and will not open.?

You have that the wrong way around. The vet should be the first option, not the last option.

Why are you trying to open your dog's anus? For the love of God leave the dog's A$$ alone. If the anal glands need to be expressed, take the dog to a vet and stop fiddling with her.

If she doesn't already have an infection she will have by the time you're done and you will cause serious damage that you won't want to explain to the vet how it happened and neither will you want to pay to fix it.

My dog just threw up... don't know why- help!!?

Dogs throw up some times. Yesterday, my dog jumped up onto my sisters bed just to puke on it! As long as the dog is acting normally, she should be fine. Just keep an eye on her and if it happens again, give the vet a call.
