My Skin Turned Shiny/oily After Exfoliating

How do I stop my makeup from getting shiny and oily? I have dry skin, but with makeup on, I always get extremely oily.

Are you using moisturizer before you put your makeup on? I always find the most important thing to be making sure that you are starting out with a good base for your makeup, and that begins with good skincare.Another possibility would be that you could be over-exfoliating. If you are using either a chemical exfoliant (like a peel) or the texture kind, it can take off too many layers of skin and you can get a shiny look, and still have dry skin.Have you tried a different formula of foundation? It could be that there’s something in this brand in particular that is incompatible with your skin.Assuming that you’ve dialed in your skincare and that this problem is present with a variety of foundations, here are a couple potential other solutions to try.One of my favorite moisturizing primers for skin that gets an oily appearance is this one - Embryolisse Hydramat*. You’d just apply this before your foundation. It still hydrates your skin, but decreases the oil showing. When you are done with your makeup, do you set it with powder or setting spray? Those could make a big difference as well.My favorite powder is RCMA no-color powder*, and my favorite skin finishing spray right now is Skindinavia*.If it’s within your budget, an airbrush system could solve this problem as well, since airbrush makeup doesn’t contain a slipping agent that can separate on your skin - see this answer for more information on that.If you’d like more information on how to do makeup, check out my online makeup academy here!*Affiliate link - same cost to you, but Amazon gives me a bit of money for the referral!

Forehead oily after exfoliating?

Never wash your face with soap/handsoap is rule 1.
What I recommend is buying from CVS is a gentle facial wash, NOT scrub, and washing with that in the morning and before you go to sleep.
However, right after you wash and dry your face with a nice, fluffy, clean towel, MOISTURIZE.
If you have a sensitive skin, buy a sensitive moisturizer/facial lotion and rub it between your clean hands and pat it on your skin after washing your face.
This will make up for the lost oils and make sure that your face doesn't overproduce oil.
It will also make your skin soft and not oily/shiny.

Why does my oily skin look shiny AFTER I wash it?

First, are you using the correct cleanser?  Using the wrong cleanser will actually leave residue or do not clean the skin properly.  On the other hand, you do not need to use cleanser that strip the skin from everything and you feel very dry.If your skin is shiny after washing then it is really good as your skin is healthy.  It means you have those glow!  I think many people will kill for that kind of skin.Do your skin turned red or irritated or pimples after washing?  If not it is good as your cleanser salicylic acid 2% actually exfoliate your skin.  It means it is working to peel off the top layer of your skin!GREAT SKIN&LIFE

My face is always oily in the morning even though I wash it the night before?

Lots of people have naturally oily skin. It is normal for your face to be oily in the morning, or several hours after washing. You may want to try a cleanser that is specifically for oily skin.

Try these tips:
1. Stick with the basics: The experts suggest cleansing your face two or three times daily with good old soap and water. Pack a premoistened cleansing pad if you won't be around a water basin throughout the day.

2. Understand that dermatologists and aestheticians often disagree on which types of soaps or cleansers to use, but all agree that once you find a product that works well for your skin, you should continue using it.

3. Follow the recommendations of dermatologists and shower or bathe in tepid rather than steaming-hot water. Hot water can strip your skin of needed moisture, while cold water can shock your skin.

4. Avoid using cleansers that tend to overdry skin. This paradoxically causes your skin to produce even more oil than usual.

5. Use only noncomedogenic moisturizers and sunscreen products - this means they're oil-free and won't clog pores.

6. Talk to your dermatologist about a class of drugs called retinoids, which reduce production in oil glands and shrink their size.

7. Keep in mind that oil glands are very sensitive; stimuli such as hormones, heat and (some say) fatty food can trigger them.

8. Remember that your efforts to keep your oily skin clear can only go so far, as some studies indicate that oily skin is hereditary.
