My Solitair Game Does Not Run Smooth. Game Keeps Stopping.

Does playing games damage computers and laptops?

Not directly… but it might damage your ‘laptops’ on some levels…When it comes to PCs, they are large systems with sufficient air flow. As all the main components inside a computer are made of semi conductors, the one issue which affects everyone is overheating. Gaming is not just a software program, it utilizes your CPU and GPU more than all other intensive applications. While gaming, the core temperature of your CPU and GPU reaches to it’s maximum. Overheating of computer components is not an unusual thing, but overheating means that both the CPU and GPU is pulling lot of power to run the games which will not affect the PC at that instant, but in the long run the life of the CPU and GPU will be reduced. All the motherboards has an alert system which will turn off your computer when the CPU reaches it’s dangerous maximum. There is also a thing called as thermal throttling where the clock speeds of the CPU or GPU will be reduced by themselves to reduce overheating, but this affects the performance of your computer. When it comes to laptops, it is an even more serious issue. Laptops are portable devices with poor air flow. Laptops are not big machines with sufficient space for cool air to circulate around the components to cool them off. Due to the poor airflow conditions, it is not recommended to run AAA titles on a poorly constructed laptop for a long time. From my personal experience I had a bitter incident 3 years ago, I had a VAIO laptop in which I was playing Farcry 4 at high graphics mode. Everything was going good. The game is running perfectly and I felt nothing suspicious, but after an hour of gaming I felt that the sides of the laptop was overheating like a frying pan. I never faced that kind of overheating, but I didn’t care enough about it which fried my Motherboard after a few minutes. I had to spend ₹13000 to replace it. So if you have a laptop with poor airflow then get a good cooling pad to keep it cool.— it assistors

How do I stop my laptop from overheating while playing games without buying any accessories like cooling pads, etc.?

I have tried various methods like undervolting, lowering graphics settings but the method that worked best for me is to lower my maximum processor state setting. I got around 15 degrees Celsius drop with no noticeable drop in performance! I have an i7 7700HQ. Your results might differ depending on the model. Below are the steps for Windows 10 (should be similar for other versions):Right click on battery icon in task bar.Select power options.Select “Change plan settings” for your current active plan.Select “Change advanced power settings”.Scroll down and select “Processor power management”.Change maximum processor state to a value below 100. Check which value gives you the best results. (For me it’s 95%)Change minimum processor state to a value less than your selected maximum value. (Mine is 5%)Make sure system cooling policy is marked as active. And most importantly, do not place your laptop directly over a table or bed. Keep something like cellotape rolls or a book below your laptop. This greatly improves the airflow. Let me know your results in the comments.

Why does my phone get heated up while playing online games?

Hi,Actually, this answer is very predictable. As you use your phone to play any online games, the device essentially uses its Processor, GPU, RAM, ROM (only reading) , GPS(optional , if Pokemon GO), WiFi card or Data ( sometimes altogether) , NFC, Bluetooth(for compatible games), speakers( or headphones) AND mainly, the screen uses much of the battery to render. This makes sense as the battery eventually becomes hot, along with the screen sometimes ( if the brightness is high). High RAM usage might also heat up the phone. A processor already has a tiny fan on it to coll it down a bit. If you use a A Qualcomm SoC (System on Chip) , then the device heating up is less than that of a MediaTek SoC. GPU (Graphical Processing Unit) also plays an important role. Both of these SoCs come along with Adreno and Helio GPUs respectively. If you are buying a phone with heat less generating, you may want a device with Qualcomm Adreno based or any Arm or x64 processors. NOTE- If the device consists of a metallic body, then you may find the body heating up. Huawei Honor devices heat less but usually consist of MediaTek GPU ( viz. Helio)(Qualcomm GPU gives 60 fps on most new devices and is faster as compared to Helio )If you want to reduce your device heat, please turn down the brightness of the screen and clear all the running background processes. Rebooting your phone helps a lot. Also please try not to play any kind of games with the charger plugged in( it may damage the battery, too). Use either WiFi or data but don't use it simultaneously ( try using WiFi networks as it lowers the heat by at least 3%). Please enjoy games to its fullest.

What is the best mobile game?

If by most popular, you mean a game with the most registered users and most daily active users (DAU), it's probably a game you've never heard of, let alone play:King of Glory - WikipediaBased on the data released by Tencent, GAD platform, King of Glory has a whooping 200 million registered users, and 50 million daily active users. Pay penetration is 22% (an absolutely insane number). Compare this to Clash of Clan with over 100 million registered users, or the recent hit Pokemon Go with 20 Million daily active users…(League of Legend, the game's “spiritual predecessor” has 12 million daily active user) King of Glory is definitely way up there. In fact, the game got so popular, China's state-owned “People's Daily” had published 2 opinion pieces back-to-back to crash it. (It's probably someone from Politburo who wants to crack down on Tencent, but the fact that they're using a game to do it, speaks loudly of the impact of this mobile game).Of course, King of Glory is basically a League of Legend Mobile port. BUT! before you diss it as another shameless copycat, you must understand that King of Glory might be based on League of Legend (just like League of Legend is based on DOTA), the developer had done a LOT of changes that improve the core game and make it more suitable for mobile gameplay. The first thing they did is to make the game shorter. Remember those hour long LOL battles you have to sit through? King of Glory average match time is about 10–15 minutes. Perfect for your morning commute, or lunch breaks. And the game has a diverse cast drawing inspiration from Chinese history and mythology, making it a lot more friendly to Chinese users. They had worked wonders with the controls, making it smooth and easy to access with touch screen. But I think what really makes this game so successful is their effort of making the game more friendly and enjoyable for female gamers. 54% of the game's user base are female gamers, compare to League of Legend’s mere 10%.At the end of the day, Timi studio (KoG's developer) did a great job of revamping an old formula and bringing it to the mobile space. King of Glory wasn't a great game at the very beginning, but Timi had never stopped improving it, and here we are today.I'm sure Riot is feeling the burn, thinking why they didn't release their own mobile game.

Why is my laptop shutting down every time I Play a game?

See the reason for this is definitely not your battery being dead. When a normal battery gets fully charged, the computer automatically makes the connection direct. This is just happening all the time in your case. One problem can be that your Graphics memory is going out of range else your RAM is going out of range. This can be confirmed if you see a blue screen showing memory dump. The second reason can be overheating. You said you have a Dell laptop. So, when you start your system, go to the Dell System test and do a stress test. Then you'll know what is the max level of heat your laptop is reaching. If it goes over 95 degree C, you must contact Dell.I don't see any third reason behind this.

My parents allow me roughly 15-20 minutes of gaming time on PC daily, and I'm in year 9. More or less everyone else I know gets at least double to triple this time. How can I get them to understand this?

I’m sure you have told them and I’m sure they understand just fine. They simply don’t care, and don’t agree with it for their own child. Arguing that “everyone else does it” is never an effective way to win an argument with parents.Picture this: it’s Sunday morning. I am sitting in the house I own. Parts of the house are a mess, others not so bad. I am currently feeding a chicken blueberries from my breakfast as I sit in my pajamas at 11:30 AM. (I invited her in for a few minutes, then she’ll go back out to the coop with the others.)If my mother lived with me, she’d be horrified at so much of that paragraph. So much would be different: no chicken in the house, get your damn butt dressed, clean up this, clean up that, go do something with your day, etc. etc.But I don’t live at home anymore. I can do whatever I want within the bounds of the law and what I can afford to do. And so will you, someday. For now you’re stuck, just like I was as a kid.Trust me, right now there are kids too terrified to ask someone how they get their parents to stop selling drugs in the middle of the night, or stop hitting them, or even buy some food for the house. Parents limiting your game time is not so bad, even though it might be annoying. Please keep things in perspective.
