My Son Is 6 Months Two Weeks And 16 Pounds The Doctor Said He

I have a two month old. Doctors say he is underweight. He was born at 6.6 lbs and is now at 9.8 lbs at 2 months. What is the normal weight gain for a two to three month old? Is that what doctors say about all babies?

Newborns should gain between 5 and 7 ounces per week for the first 6 months. I’ll round that to 6 ounces per week. Keep in mind that 16 ounces equal one pound. Therefore, if an infants birth weight is 6.6 lbs then that equals roughly 107 ounces. Normal weight gain should, after 2 months, be (6x8=48+107)=155 ounces. Convert that back to pounds and it’s 9.7 lbs.Your baby is right on track. The only reason the doctor is saying the child is underweight is because the average birth weight (in the US) is 7lbs 8 ounces but can range from 6–10lbs. Because your baby was born at the low end of the spectrum it’s perfectly normal to weigh 9.8.Pediatricians will scare the hell out of you concerning ALL aspects of newborns because that’s their job. They must look at the numbers on the chart to gauge the health (and treatment) of each baby in their care.As the parent, it’s your job to listen to your child’s doctor and take (or ignore) their advice as you see fit. If this is your first baby this will drive you insane for awhile. Try not to let it. Keep doing what you’re doing. Feeding, caring for, keeping your doctor appointments, and Loving your son. You are his primary care giver. You can always get a second opinion. You can always get a new doctor. Physicians must realize that they work in a Service Industry. There is A Lot of competition out there and you are already going through a lot with a newborn, you don’t need added stress. You’re doing a great job just by being concerned/asking questions/loving your child.

I have a 3 month old baby boy who weighs 16.3 pounds I know that is not normal, is there anything I can do????

Hi. My son was 6lbs (had to be induced early) when he was born and almost 16lbs by the end of 3 months. He's just turned 2 years old and is at the 50% mark on his weight. Don't worry yet, he will be perfectly fine just keep doing what you're doing!!

My 5 month old baby is only 11 and a half pounds?

what does your doctor say? That is small. My daughter was the same weight at birth as your son was, and now at 6 months weighs 15 pounds, and she is under the 50% percentile.
How much is he eating? Is his weight percentile in proportion to his height percentile?

My 3 month old weighs 16.2 pounds(details inside)...?!?

I think your pediatrician is overreacting, he sounds very healthy to me. you could try and stretch out his feedings but it might not work.

My 1st son was 8lbs 7 oz and 1 week later he was 10lbs!!!
and then 1 week later he was 13lbs and he was strictly breastfed.

by 1 year he was 30lbs.

He is 8 years old now and thin as a stick , it's even hard to get him pants in his size because they dont fit.

I think if you keep him on a healthy diet , introducing fruits /veggies/grains and water and thing like that early your son should be fine.

There are so many things you are going to have to worry about, I think this isnt something you should worry about.

Baby's weight at 2 months?

my son was born at 7lbs 9oz and was 20inches long, at 2 months he was 23in and 13lbs 4oz. I had the same exact worries as you did but the doctor assured me that nothing is wrong with him. my son will be 11 months old(omg!) on sunday and is now around 24lbs and 33inches. so hes just a big boy, and is following the same growth patteren, which is what the doctors watch for. my son sleeps all night and he goes down at 9pm everynight. dont worry about a thing. *I love the new pic of Noah* time flies

Who has a baby 6 months and weighs 14lbs and is 23 inches? Why is my baby so small still?

I just want to know if it is normal for him to be so small. I feed my baby all the time and he has such a good appetite. He is completely healthy and always have been. When he was born he was 4lbs and was 16 1/2 inches. I delivered him at 38 weeks. He was completely healthy. Now people tell me that it's because both myself and his father are short. But could that be it. My doctor worries me because at every visit she emphasizes on agressive feedings. I feed him loads of food already. I feel alone, like I'm the only one with a tiny baby. Even my friends baby is regular size now and he was born a preemie at 3 1/2 lbs. I feed him Neosure formula, cereal oatmeal and stage 2 gerber foods. Am I the only one. I feel like it.
