My Throat Feels Swollen

Throat feels swollen?

You may have tonsillitis. Symptoms are as follow: Sore throat, Pain with swallowing, Fever, Headache, Abdominal pain Nausea, Vomiting, Cough, Hoarseness, Runny nose, Redness of the tonsils and throat, Tenderness in the glands of the neck (swollen lymph glands), White patches on the tonsils, Redness of the eyes, Rash, Ear pain (caused by nerves that go to the back of the throat also go to the ear). What you could do is....go to the mirror and open your mouth as wide as you can and take your finger and hold your tongue down to see if your tonsils are swollen and have while patches all over them. You could also have mononucleosis. We'll never know unless you go and see a doctor. Which I'd strongly advise you to do, whether your dad LIKES IT OR NOT! It's always better to be safe than sorry!

My throat feels swollen and hurts to swallow?

I dealt with the same thing about 3 months ago. I was 100% sure I had strep but when I went to the doctors the test was negative. It was literally the most painful sore throat I ever had. I even went to the doctors again by my college because I was sure I had strep but once again it was negative. They said I probably had a cold. I was also really congested I couldn't even taste anything for about 5 days. The doctor by my college told me to take mucinex. Mucinex really helped with with all my nasal problems. I also took cepocal to numb my throat which REALLY helped.
Also my roommate had told me this trick that INSTANTLY numbs your throat...If you take an Asprin and chew/bite on it instead of swallowing it, it was instantly numb your throat. However, it tastes horrible.

Hope I helped! Feel Better!!

My throat feels swollen, but doesn t hurt. Help?

Okay, so my throat feels really swollen. It s starting to get very uncomfortable. It s been doing this the past week. I work at an elementary school, so I talk loud to students all day. I thought it was from that, but it hasn t felt better. Even just talking normal is very uncomfortable now. I m not allergic to anything (that I know of) but I haven t eaten anything different lately because I m on a diet that I have been on for months. Also, I m not sick at all, so it s not an infection. Just sitting here not talking feels tight and I cannot stand it. I just don t know if is something I should get check out by a doctor or just see if it goes away. Any advice or anything would help. Thanks!

My throat feels swollen like I have a marshmallow stuck. What's going on?

If you still have your tonsils, it seems like it may be time for them to come out.

Before I had mine out, I had the exact same feeling. Eating was ridiculously difficult because it felt like food was constantly getting stuck in my throat. Its a scary feeling, it makes you feel like you are suffocating (of course, you aren''t) because it feels like something is stuck in your throat, and no amount of water removes it.

If you've already had your tonsils out, you either have one hell of a throat infection, or some sort of allergy. Usually, a food allergy will take effect in the first 15-20 minutes, not always, but that is the norm. If you treat it with Epi or Benadryl, it doesn't come back, unless you re-encounter the substance that you are allergic to.

You could also just have really bad sinuses and allergies. Though usually having your tonsils removed helps that also,

In any case, you need to visit your doctor. He/she may recommend you to an Otolarygologist (Ear, nose and throat doctor.)

Good luck

My front and back left lymph nodes are swollen. My throat feels weird, like a goiter (I don’t have). Should I be worried (just getting over a cold)?

“My front and back left lymph nodes are swollen. My throat feels weird, like a goiter (I don’t have). Should I be worried (just getting over a cold)?”A2AYou have lymph nodes throughout your body, but I’m assuming that when you say “front and back left”, you are talking about lymph nodes in your neck.If the lymph nodes are a little tender as well as swollen and were not palpable before your cold, they are probably related to your recent infection and will go away as you continue to recover. If the nodes are large, non-tender and were present in this state prior to your infection, you should see your doctor as soon as possible.

I wake up in the morning and my throat feels swollen and throughout the day my throat is scratchy, what's up?

See your health care provider as soon as possible (primary care specialist), for consultation. It's appropriate if streptococcal bacteria are causing the soreness and swelling. You probably have strep if your throat is deep red with white patches, you have a fever that started suddenly, and the lymph nodes in your neck are painfully enlarged.
The inside of the throat may turn red around the trachea and esophagus due to inflammation. This is typically accompanied by pain or discomfort.
Pain. Due to the amount of tissue and sensitivity in the throat. It is susceptible to pain. When it swells due to infection, it may become more sensitive or even painful, making swallowing more difficult.
A swollen throat can become dry and scratchy, causing coughing and a hoarse voice.
Whatever the cause, you can soothe your throat by sucking on cough drops, gargling with warm saltwater, eating ice cream or ice pops, drinking lots of fluids (water), humidifying dry air, and using throat sprays containing dyclonine (Cepacol Maximum Strength Sore Throat Spray, Sucrets Throat Spray) or phenol (Cheracol Sore Throat Spray).
I hope this helps you. And good luck.

I just now woke up and my throat feels really swollen help please?

Ouch! I would drink some hot tea. Any flavor you want but make sure it is not artificially flavored. Make sure it is natural. Before that, get some hot water (as hot as possible without burning your mouth) and take some salt to gargle. Make sure the water is suppperrrr salty. The salt is gonna kill whatever you have in your mouth. Make sure you get some more sleep so go to bed early. A hot shower might feel good too. If it continues, I recommend going to the doctor. Hope you feel better :)
