My Thumb Got Swollen Unexplainable

Unexplained bruising and sore joints?

When you see your doctor (which you really should), have him/her consider Henoch-Schonlein Purpura, also known as Anaphylactoid Purpura or HSP. This causes what appears to be bruising around the joints (wrists, ankles, knees and hips) also around the buttocks. Sometimes a rash will appear as well. This tends to show up after some sort of respiratory infection, even if it was a mild one that didn't affect you much. The "bruising" at you joints progress just like regular bruising, but usually at a slightly faster pace, going from light looking to dark within just hours. HSP can, but not always, cause damage to the liver, so this is why you should see your doctor.

My son was diagnosed with HSP when he was 6 months old. I had to go to several doctors before they could figure out what was wrong. CPS was nearly called even because of the severe "bruising". Basically, how it was explained to me, was that it is kind of an allergic reaction to the respiratory infection. It causes the capillaries near the joints to burst (bruising) and can cause rash and discomfort in the legs and joints, and even stomach upset. It can be a simple thing that passes in about a month or so, but you need to be checked just in case for liver issues. If you are disgnosed, you also have to be careful of future respiratory illness, as a 2nd round can be harder on the body. After my son's reaction, he has gone the last 4 years with no new signs, and no 2nd reaction.

As for the exhaustion, have them check your iron level, if it's low, it can cause this.

Unexplained blackout after I woke up?

You have a headache which means you have tight neck muscles. Tight neck muscles restrict everything leaving your head, including the blood. When there is a reduced blood flow in your head you will have a lowered oxygen level there as well. You will know when the oxygen level has dropped when you feel very tired. If the level drops more you will get dizzy, light headed, and more you will pass out. Your neck muscles go to the top of your head where they connect to muscles going around your head. When the neck muscles get tight they pull the head muscles into pain and that's your headache. Freeing up your neck muscles will get rid of your headache and keep the passing out from happening again and here's how to free them up:
Neck
Put your hands alongside your head so your thumbs are on the front of the muscle under your ear and your fingers are on the back of the muscle behind your neck. Squeeze your thumb and fingers together and hold. Relax your body. When your fingers and thumb touch, about one minute, slowly lower your head as far as you can, release the pressure but hold your neck lowered for another 30 seconds.
For best results relax your body first by taking a deep breath and exhaling then remain this relaxed.

What are some treatments for Complex Regional Pain Syndrome (CRPS)? My left hand is swollen, painful and severely limited in its ability to function. I've been out of work for 13 weeks and none of the treatments I've been prescribed are working.

I have a painful unexplained condition in one of my fingers in left hand for last 2 months. I do not have pain without touch but I am not able to close my left hand. In the morning it is worse. At times I am not able to open my finger (one only) in the morning without seeking help of other hand.My pain tolerance is very high. So I easily handle the pain.I have experimented with hydration dehydration cycles. It reduces to the extent of 80% on some days of hydration with salt. On other days on the day of dehydration it has improved.I have yet to reach a conclusion. Though it has started worrying me, I have not given up. Hopefully I will be able to put an end to this in next 15 days.****In brief hydration dehydration cycles is as given here -****Day 1 - Drink 150–200 ml water every hour from 7 am to 6 pm. No other fluid/ liquid.Day 2,3 - Drink 150–200 ml water 3 times only during the day. Total fluid intake 450–600 ml in the day.Repeat for 2–3 weeks.Fluid overload is one of the basic reasons of low resting metabolic rate.Chronic mineral imbalance in blood leads to low metabolic rate.To correct mineral imbalance do hydration dehydration cycles and to increase resting metabolic rate do walking and rest routines as detailed on my blog.Read my blog for more details and / Or watch my you tube videos at - rajinder bhalla******To increase Resting Metabolic Rate (RMR) do the following******Walk for 5 minutes at easy pace within your home in the morning. After walking rest for 5–10 minutes in bed.Repeat the above 3 times in the morning, afternoon, evening and at night before sleeping. So that makes for 12 walk and rest routines or 5x12 = 60 minutes of walk for the entire period. One can do it selectively during week days and on working days only in the morning and at night. If the migraine is just setting in, walk only for 1 minute or even less and than rest for 5 minutes. Repeat till migraine disappears. It will be complete relief in 30 minutes or less. The idea about walking is that it mobilises energy and before the entire mobilised energy is spent we rest. In such a case a part of the mobilised energy becomes available for vital organs. This mobilised energy takes care of the migraines.Doing walking and rest routines takes care of aging related diseases as well. For explanation of the above read my blog.

I have this small marble sized lump under the skin of my groin/leg area?

No one here can really answer this question. Here is the problem . . while it is likely to be a lymph node or some other benign condition there is a slim possibility for it to be a malignancy . . and because there is that slim possibility than you do need to take this seriously. The rule of thumb for an unexplained painless lump over 2cm that seems to be growing should be for a doctor to examine it. I hesitate to put a time frame on it because our experience with our son who had an aggressive fast growing cancer makes me suspicious of any lump that is over a month old. I realize our son had a rare cancer, but the lesson learned is to not ignore anything that is remotely suspicious. At your age there is a type of soft tissue sarcoma that can develop in the muscles, joints, cartiliage, tendons, blood vessels and soft tissue . . so, yes, take the lump seriously . . watch it, if it is growing than go to a doctor for an evaluation. More than likely this is going to turn out to be nothing. Good luck.

Swelling mantis abdomen?

I have a pet Praying Mantis (Hierodula multispina-- Chinese Giant) who is in her 6th instar. Her abdomen has recently begun swelling to an incredible size starting a few weeks ago, and it is getting difficult to feed her now. I tried researching the internet for something like this, but found nothing.

Just to be clear, she is not pregnant, because I have never introduced a male into her cage ever. I read somewhere that mantids can sometimes have infertile oothecas with no young in them-- if that is the case, please let me know. Also, I do not think she is about to molt, as she has been like this for at least two weeks now. Her abdomen is about as big around as my thumb, and for her size, that's humungous. She can't even hang upside-down easily anymore. She will also only eat about every three days. And no, I am not overfeeding her.

Does anyone know what is wrong with my mantis? And if you do, is she a goner? I am thinking she might not make it much longer.

What are the causes that I woke up with my thumb joint feeling painful?

Overuse of a computer mouse can do this. As can prolonged writing.

My thumb is sore to the touch all of a sudden. What's wrong with it?

There’s a couple of things that could be wrong. You could have bruised the tip of your thumb. You could also have some type of foreign body in there such as a splinter. At first I thought it could be tendinitis but it doesn’t sound like it. I would get a magnifying glass and look at your thumb to see if you can see anything sticking out from it. If you do, try using Elmer’s school glue. Cover your thumb with it and let it dry. Then slowly pull the glue off and it’ll pull the splinter out. If you don’t see anything, then try ice and heat. See if this helps. The ice will help with the bruise and the heat will help with blood flow to help heal the bruise faster. If it’s not, then best see a doctor. You could have an infection that could get into your blood stream. If it does, it can cause a lot more health problems such as blood poisoning or death. I would call your doctor’s office and speak to the doctor for more solid advice.
