Can I connect an external hard drive to my tv via usb and play movies?
If your tv has media share or allshare like Samsung it will see the canvio toshiba drive and play anything on it,I have a new samsung with allshare and a 3 year old both play everything pretty much I have on my WD essentials usb3.0 toshiba and seagate all 1tb drives and all were plug and play.I just watched A SBS 3D movie from my External drive without issue and it looked amazing.Samsung E8000.Also works well on my panasonic 65in.But my mitsubishi only plays songs and pics so it depends on the TV not the drive.And the usb 3.0 won't be a big speed difference as most TVs are usb 2.0 logic board types.
My external hard drive is not opening, but it is showing up in my computer. How can I open it?
well i know 2 methods:try this does it work as m quite sure that i might not need to tell the second solution cosidering normally this one always work: 1.go to command prompt2.Type the folowing:attrib drive_letter:*.* /d /s -h -r -s3.Replace the word ‘drive_letter’ with your drive. For Ex mine is G drive so it will have the command : attrib G:*.* /d /s -h -r -s4.Than you hard drive/pen drive will open and show a nameless folder. Open the nameless folder.5.You will see all files/folders originally in your hard drive/ pen drive inside that nameless folder.6.Please do reply to me if it work. Cuz second method works only if u tries this and your hard drive/ pen drive does not open still.
Can my external hard drive be my server for plex?
As far as I understand, Plex can be used in several ways.It can be used as a media server (multimedia) program on a computer in which the external drive would be storage for your files. If you are thinking this way, your network would have to be up to the task of getting the files off of the external drive and then your computer would act as the actual "server" on your network sending files to the devices that you want them to.Some routers allow you to connect your external drive to it and plex running on various devices would access the files on your external drive through your router serving them up to the various devices you want to view multimedia on.Your external drive can also be used in conjunction with various smart tv's running plex, connect your external drive to your tv. Is that what you mean?If you want plex to be installed on your external drive and then without any other connection be used as a server, no. Its not a server. There are now external drives with wifi that would give the illusion that its a server because plex running on a device would access the external wirelessly serving up your multimedia enjoyment.So plex must be installed somewhere in the chain in order for it to work. Whether its Roku, Samsung, PC or the others. Installing plex on your external would only allow you to use plex when its connected to your pc - as an external drive. Just in case you consider doing this, I think that it would be more efficient to install plex on your pc and use the external as media storage. Although it would work.
Is it illegal to sell an external hard drive full of movies?
I believe that it's okay as long as they are the only copies of the movies. You've paid and may do with them as you wish, but only one person can have the movies over the price you paid.
Can I get a virus from a flash drive if I stick it in a computer with one?
Flash drives CAN be infected unfortunately. But you can definitely stick it in and run a virus scan once possible. Make sure you run the scan targeting only the flash drive so the scan runs quick. You don't have to worry about it infecting your computer as long as you avoid opening any files in the flash drive. If you want to be ultimately safe, stick in the flash drive. Once it shows up in My Computer, Right Click the flash drive and click Format. Go through the settings. Formatting the flash drive will delete EVERYTHING in the flash drive. So, unless you have files where the only copy you have is on the flash drive, then best thing to do is to format the flash drive. Once that is done, run a scan on your computer to make sure nothing was transferred. In summary, no your flash drive is probably not ruined.
Is there any way to use my Wii's USB port to watch my movies on my external hardrive?
