My Water Bottle Smelled Weird

Why do my water bottles smell bad?

Because you drink from them and deposite some saliva with bacteria and nutrients. Those bacteria continue to grow and secrete waste products as long as there's still some nutrients left, and that stuff can smell pretty bad, it's some of the same stuff that causes morning breath after all.If you drink directly from a bottle, don't let it stand too long without refridgeration, and clean it out every few days to avoid buildup.

Top of Water Bottle Smells Like Urine?

Hi. I bought a bottle of water about two weeks ago, and after drinking the contents, I kept and re filled the bottle so I can drink some water when I'm up in my room etc (I drink lots of water due to medical reason). I do this to save me the hastle of having to run down every 10 min for a sip.

But this morning when I went to re fill my bottle I noticed a weird urine like smell coming off around the top of the inside rim where you put the cap on. I've kept water bottles in the past, but never did they smell like this after only 2 weeks. And I keep the bottle in a clean area
Plus my tap water is clean.

I threw my only bottle available away. :'( lol

Has anyone experienced this?

Why did this happen?

I've tried Googling my query but couldn't find anything specific.

Please only answer if you've kept water bottles in the past and undestand what I'm trying to say. lol

Thanks.

Looking forward to your answers. :)

How do I stop my water bottle smelling?

Hold its nose.

Rinse with vinegar, then wash out the vinegar. Let it dry completely for a couple days.

Why does the inside of my Nalgene water bottle smell so weird?

It might need to be cleaned with those fizzy tablets. You can use denture cleaning tablets or the ones made especially for the Nalgene bottles. The denture cleaning ones are cheaper though but they do the same thing. Mine gets weird smells from time to time too.

My aluminum water bottle smells gross!!!?

I got this aluminum (environmentally friendly) water bottle about 6 months ago and have been using it constantly ever since and just lately it started to smell really gross. I washed it twice and it still smells! The smell is like aluminum (duh) but intensified by 10 and an added gross smell, lol. Its always smelled like aluminum so its not anything new but its very strong now and I have no clue why it stinks so much. I am pretty sure this started AFTER the first time I washed it (my boyfriend said it was gross that I hadn't washed it yet so I did); all I did when I washed it was put some hot water and dish soap in it and shook it up. Was it the hot water that did it? I remember hearing something like that you're not supposed to put hot liquids in it but...I guess I didn't think of that when I was thinking of cleanliness.

Anyone have any idea what I did to cause this or how I can fix this gross smell?

Water bottles were in trunk of my car. Water smells bad?

I had a box of water bottles from the grocery store in my trunk for a few days. It was 60 degrees but one day it hit like 69-70 Farenheit.

Well, I opened a bottle and not only is the smell of plastic strong but it kinda tastes like it. Should I throw all 20 water bottles away?

Why does my plastic bottled water bottle smell bad?

I've bought a couple of 1 liter bottled water bottles from the local grocery store. I have two of them. I've been drinking one, filling it from the tap and putting it in the fridge and drinking from the other one.

Recently, I've started to notice a smell coming from the bottles. I don't think it's the water; tap water in Central/Western Europe is comparable to some American bottled water I've heard. Could it be the plastic? Has some kind of invisible mold grown in the bottle?

I washed them out with soap yesterday but two refills later they've started smelling again. Are they safe to drink or will I be dead by sunrise? Honestly, this is mostly out of curiosity. I'm going to the market tomorrow and I'll probably just pick up two new bottles while I'm out, but I'd still like to know.

Thanks in advance!
