Why does my weight keep going up and down?

This is driving me CRAZY!!! I started working out on January 21, 2008. Five weeks later I have only lost 10 pounds. Is that good or realistic at this point? I just feel like I work out so hard and only 10 pounds. I started out at like 198.2 and I am now between 187.5 and 188.0.

I try to eat five meals per day (three main meals and two snacks). I try to drink at least 64 oz. of water. Sometimes I do more and sometimes I do a little less. I workout five to six times per week. I do cardio for an hour or so. I try to do an intense workout. Somewhere between 4.0 and 4.2. I recently started jogging on the treadmill in one minute increments. I usually burn anywhere between 500 to 600 calories per day on the treadmill. I also do circuit training which is usually 30 to 40 minutes.

This week I started doing some of the aerobic and weight classes to cut back on the circuit a little (it was making me sore). Depending on what I ate the night before ...

Why is my computer screen bouncing up and down?

Do you have the bookmarks toolbar disabled?

If so, make sure you have nothing saved in your Bookmarks Toolbar Folder.

I hope this helps, I had the same problem & this solved it for me.

My weight keeps jumping up and down irregularly.?

Your body can go up and down up to 10lbs a day in water weight. Are you weighing yourself at the same time every day? (Best time is in the morning after you've went to the bathroom but before you've eaten anything).
Also, do you drink enough water every day? That has to be water weight because there is no way you can lose 6 pounds of fat or muscle in 1 day, that would be like a 20,000 calorie deficiency and a 20,000 calorie surplus the next day.
Do you drink a lot of cafinated drinks or alcohol? That can do it too.

Either way, it impossible that weight is fat or muscle, it's just water, so there is nothing to worry about. Good luck!

Why does weight go up and down while dieting consistently?

Well your body stores other fluids that can make your weight fluctuate and your diet can influence the level of those fluids.

This excerpt is taken from the guide linked below:

"Common table salt is the term used for the sodium chloride we add to our food. The amount of salt we shake onto our food, however, is not usually our main source of salt intake. We receive about 80% of our salt intake from sodium chloride which is added to most of the processed food we eat. And it seems we are eating more processed food today than ever. Our bodies only require about 500 mg of sodium a day, and this should be obtained from within natural foods, not added to food in the form of sodium chloride. However, we typically get as much as 6,000-8,000 mg of sodium a day! Salt is practically everywhere, and its harmful effect on our bodies is also rampant among us, causing health problems ranging from cardiovascular disease to cataract formation!

The reason salt causes bloating is that your body retains water to dilute it in order to protect your tissues from salt's harmful irritating effect. Getting a bit of salt in your eye is a good demonstration of this irritating effect. If you can imagine that irritation occurring throughout your body, you'll begin to see why salt causes so many health problems. "

Why people shake their leg and bounce their knee up and down?

Ridiculous? There is nothing ridiculous about this; only a mark of general health and energy expressing. It is not limited on nervousness nor is it limited to teenagers but is expressed commonly from many people regardless of age... and is a completely natural response. All else is a commentary, an observance, which may be readily addressed with the person that annoys you.

That we don't see more of it expressed in people leads to the greater question about the lack of viability and exuberance increasingly indicated in western societies, especially with respect to one's vibrance and overall mental and physical health.

That's all.

Why am I not losing weight?

Congratulations on giving up soda, it is a major step in your bid to lose weight.
Simply, you need to use up more calories / kilojoules than you consume to lose weight.
Here are a few tips that can help you get back on track.
Increased activity: cycle, swim, dance, jog, walk more, take up a sport like karate, water polo or golf, take the stairs rather than the lift, etc. - whatever you do make it fun and enjoyable so that you will continue doing it.
Exercise: Plyometrics, crunches, skipping, body weight exercises and squats can all be done at home and will give you great results.
Mix up your exercises every 2 weeks for best results.
Food: Include fruit, fiber, vegetables, lean meat, beans and oily fish (like salmon) in your eating plan.
Reduce fried, processed and refined foods in your diet.
Hydrate: drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Increase your metabolism even more by drinking green tea.
Breakfast kick-starts your metabolism into high gear and sets you up for the day.
Eat 6 times a day (breakfast, snack, lunch, snack, dinner, snack).
If you are hungry then you are doing something wrong - drink a glass of water or eat some fruit.
Dehydration is often confused with hunger.
Diet and sugar-free foods and sodas actually make you fat so avoid them.
Avoid fad diets as they are unsustainable and any weight lost soon returns...with interest.

Best of luck.

Why does my weight change daily?

What you described appears to be normal daily weight fluctuations for everyone, which can vary by as much as 5 to 6 pounds. There are many different factors which contribute to these weight fluctuations, such as water retention, changes in lean body mass, and glycogen storage. Keep in mind that those changes are normal and do not indicate the success or failure of your dieting. Compare your weigh-ins on a month-to-month basis and you'll probably get a more accurate picture of how much weight you have actually lost.

I have been on my own weight loss regiment for about 3 months now and I have also noticed the daily weight fluctuations but I recognize my "true" weight when I have dropped some weight and consistently weigh in at that new weight in the morning. I have read that the best time to weigh accurately is in the morning.

The following are some websites that deal with daily weight fluctuations:

Good luck with your diet and remember that the results that matter are the one you achieve in the long run. I have lost 15 pounds in those 3 months--slow progress, I know, but the results are real and permanent.
