Name A Science Fantasy Novel Or Series Like This

Some good science-fiction/fantasy novels and series?

I was looking for some good sci. fic/fantasy novels. I'm not talking about the really easy to read ones and I'm not necessarily asking for the more mainstream and popular ones. I just want a good read, and I'm new to the science fiction/fantasy genre, so something to start off with that will really "wow" me and make me want to continue on with this genre. Maybe one with even a little bit of romance would be great since I am coming from being an avid reader of Historical fiction/romance and contemporary fiction/romance and also paranormal fiction/romance.

The books don't have to be historical or anything either. I just want some names of your favorite books please. Series would be great too. Anything will be greatly appreciated! Thanks so much!

Name of a science fiction book series with OCD?

I am trying to remember the name of a series of books (six or maybe more) I read in the late 80s. All I can remember was the first book was about a japanese girl who had OCD where she would have to trace cracks in floorboards for hours at a time. Then there was something about someone being turned into a donkey/ mule and an assassin who had retractable posioned fingernails? There was a whole load of people who ended up as space pirates or something like that... and that's as much as I can remember.

What is the first science fiction or fantasy series you read and come back?

I was going to answer “Isaac Asimov’s Foundation Trilogy,” which is a pretty cool and respectable answer for a Science Fiction novelist to post, until someone else’s answer reminded me that it wasn’t the classic, highbrow SF Asimov trilogy at all.So, no, I’m afraid hat it wasn’t this:[I first encountered this great series in this edition. Man, those 1970s LSD covers really look weird today.]It was THIS![The first volume of the Tom Swift, Jr., series of juvenile novels. Mine looked exactly like this. It was even in HARD COVER.]Yep, the first series I read multiple times was several volumes of the Tom Swift, Junior series of juvenile books written by Victor Appleton, II (a pen name to be sure). These books were The Hardy Boys Mysteries, written for little budding science nerds. All the tech was cool. Take that airplane for example. It’s a nuclear powered, VTOL airplane of absolute hugeness with on board laboratories and even a hangar deck from which it could launch smaller planes and helicopters (eleven years before Star Trek). It had virtually unlimited range and was faster than just about anything in the sky. Tom Swift’s dad was a scientist, too, and he built the thing and most of the other cool tech that Tom gets to use. I think he had a non-brilliant friend named Bud who went along on all of his adventures, mainly to serve as a foil and ask the questions that the reader wants to ask. When I was eight years old, I thought this stuff was the bees’ knees.

Name for a race/species in a fantasy story?

Basically, I need help coming up with a name for a species in my fantasy novel.
Now, this species is humanoid. Their hair is made of fire and they have control over that element, as in like, they can manifest it and whatnot. Their skin is a tannish color, hot to the touch, though it's covered by scales around the parts that actually touch fire. (usually forehead/scalp, hands to mid-forearm, and their feet up to mid-calf.) Naturally, they're incredibly weak to water and if their flames go out for too long they'll die. They also can't wear anything that's flammable, including a vast majority of cloth. So they have to wear things made of metals with high melting points and non-flammable armor.

Now, from what I understand they're more or else fire elementals. However, this story has more fantasy-like names (Felarrise, Divindell, Runa, etc) so if anyone could give me a good name for it that'd be great!

Mature science fiction/ fantasy graphic novels?

Ive been looking for a long time now so im just gonna ask you guys. I would like to get some sci-fi comics/graphic novels WITH sex and nudity and violence all that shizz. But it has to be sci-fi and has to have some nudity or sex in it. Im not someone who's looking for a comic with SEX SEX SEX, just a mature sexual SCI-FI comic/graphic novel.

What is the name of the author who wrote a fantasy book series involving puns?

You are probably thinking of Piers Anthony and his Xanth series. The original few books were not as full of puns as the latter, and the quality seems to be inversely proportional to the number of puns, but they are, in general, fun, light reads. Anthony is a prolific writer, and there are now more than 40 books in the series. Back in the 80’s Pier Anthony could fill a whole shelf in a book store, with multiple running and completed series. His work ranged from hard Science Fiction to Fantasy. And there was the Adept series, that mixed both Science Fiction and Fantasy.Personally, I think his earlier work such as Macroscope and the Cluster series was some of his best. But today, it appears that the only stories publishers want from him are Xanth stories. So, that’s how he makes his living.
