How many completely peaceful, warless years has America had since July 4th, 1776?

Depending on your particular impression of what constitutes completely peaceful, it's possible that no person has ever lived a completely peaceful year in the history of humanity. There's always small-scale violence and internal, personal distress everywhere where there are people. Is anyone ever completely at peace in their hearts? For that reason, I'm going to focus on the warless part, which has the benefit of being definable, and ignore the completely peaceful part.If we define "war" in the narrowest, most legally literal way possible -- Congressional declarations of war years -- then we've had 212 warless years and 23 years at war since 1776.  That's a 90:10 split in favor of peace, and includes only the American Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Mexican-American War, the Spanish-American War, World War 1, and World War 2. But does anyone think that's an all-inclusive definition of war? I imagine not.If we include any combat wherein Congress or the UN has authorized US military involvement whether there was an official declaration of war or not, that expands the war years to 91 and contracts the peace years to 145. That's a 61:39 split in favor of peace. That includes many other famous wars, such as the Quasi-War, The Barbary Wars, Korea, Vietnam, Bosnia, Iraq, and Afghanistan. But it notably excludes such famous battlefields as the Whiskey Rebellion, the Civil War (!), the Philippine-American War, the Kosovo War of 1998-1999, and countless Indian Wars. The Indian Wars alone (excluding wars where Indian Nations sided with foreign nation states like Britain) classify 79 years since 1776 as war years. That's a third of the nation's history, including fully 70 years of the 19th century. If every conflict on this list is included in the definition of war, Americans have been at war sometime during 170 years of the years since 1776. That's 72% of American history, and leaves only 66 warless years behind.I suspect the asker of this question wants to hear that final figure: 66 warless years. The rest of this answer that preceded is just there to provide context.

Did you know your American Democracy is only temporary?

"A democracy is always temporary in nature; it simply cannot exist as a permanent form of government. A democracy will continue to exist up until the time that voters discover that they can vote themselves generous gifts from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates who promise the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that every democracy will finally collapse due to loose fiscal policy, which is always followed by a dictatorship."

Why did slavery thrive for over 200 years in one of the most democratic world?

Slavery had been around in this world for thousands of years before it ever showed up on our shores. I'm sure people thought it was just business as usual when it was brought here - besides when it was, we weren't yet the most democratic nation in the world. And it was abolishing slavery that was the radical thought at the time.

Which country was involved in the most wars in modern history (last 100 years) and what has it achieved?

By far, the country that has been involved in the most wars in the past one hundred years, if wars are defined as all wars, military conflicts, military occupations, large scale rescue missions, and policing and peacekeeping actions performed by military units, the answer is the United States of America. What has this achieved? All the other countries in the world understand that the USA is the lone hegemonic power, at least for the time being.  This is important because it is, “Better to be feared than to be loved”.Many Americans today have a sense of pride from this, however, concern is growing amonst these persons that the ultimate power may be now over the hill.  Some Americans today have a sense of shame from this, thinking that all those police actions, et al., are really just modern day imperialism. An enormous amount of money, trillions of dollars, have been spent in order to achieve this.  Some say it’s worth it, other don’t agree.

Has the United States ever lost a war?

Officially, no. At no point has the US been forced to surrender to another nation. There are only two disputable wars that most people bring up.War of 1812 - The US officially declared a draw with Britain. Although the White House was burned, the US obliterated Britain in New Orleans. The US and Britain eventually agreed to end the conflict rather evenly.Vietnam - The US spent over a decade pounding North Vietnam and her allies into the dirt. Although it came at the cost of 50,000+ plus American Soldiers, the North Vietnamese lost far more militarily as you would expect. However, the US never actually surrendered. By 1973 the US withdrew from Vietnam, leaving the country of South Vietnam to continue on its own. Although North Vietnam would soon defeat South Vietnam, the US withdraw wasn’t a surrender.Militarily the US never lost a war. However, whether they strategically lost any conflict is another matter. In that situation you’d need to analyze what the US goals were as compared to their enemies goals and then compare to see who accomplished what. Under this analysis, you can make a good argument that the US never won in Vietnam, to which I’d agree. However, upon just viewing the military side of the conflict, the US has never lost a war.Edit: Some have gotten rather testy about me asserting that US didn’t lose Vietnam, and have sent me messages because of this. Let me explain why I stand by this statement. The US never lost a major battle in Vietnam. For over a decade we pummeled the North Vietnamese, inflicting a combined total of over a 1 million losses over the course of the war. In 1973 the US brokered the Paris Peace Accords, which was a peace treaty ending the war and establishing both North and South Vietnam as separate governments. The US proceeded to end its military involvement in the region, similar to what happened in South Korea. However, the US also ended any commitment to defense and funding. After 2 years North Vietnam proceeded to break the peace treaty and invade South Vietnam. Without American financial support, the South quickly folded. Since the US military was not present after 1973, having voluntarily withdrawn and left South Vietnam to continue the fight, it is impossible to assert that the US was militarily defeated.

Why do Americans consider World War II the "good war”?

WWII is called "The Good War" because it was very clear who the "good guys" and who the "bad guys" were. The Axis were non-democratic, evil and bent on world domination, and it clearly defined them from the Allies. WWI was a jumble that was created when Ferdinand was killed and all the various treaties dragged everyone into the fray... it was very hard to see who the "good guys" and "bad guys" were.

What Country has been involved in the most wars in the last 300 Years?

That doesnt even need thinking about.300 years ? The British Empire.200 years ? The USA has been at war for its entire history.Since WW2 ?…….constantly.Now ?………..(quote) “Multiple overseas simultaneous wars”Supposedly there was 13 years after Vietnam where it didnt directly fight , but got others to do it for them , such as Indonesia, Cambodia , Iraq , Nicaragua and countless more.During those 13 years (and still today) it trained almost all of the death squads in Latin and South America , in The School of the Americas in Georgia. When they were exposed, they had to change their name and re-locate.Just from 1950 to 2002 , it has conducted 200 separate military strikes. It is officially the Greatest Violator of World Peace. It is the Greatest Violator of the U.N Charter. It is the Greatest violator of International Law and Standing Treaties.
