What will happen if the moon is destroyed ?
Well, we would no longer have normal tide cycles (as the moon's gravity is more than partially responsible for tides), although they might not go completely away, as the gravity of the sun is also partially responsible for them. Also, if you've ever seen pictures of the back side of the moon, you can see that the moon acts as an occasional asteroid/meteor shield, taking hits from such space junk as might otherwise have an impact on earth. We might get hit by more objects over the course of time. Another thing: the earth would change its speed of rotation (I think), although I cannot remember if it would speed up or slow down. (I think it would speed up). So, days would no longer be 24 hours long. On a positive note: No more worrying about werewolves. Lastly, we would have to change a lot of song lyrics: Think about it. The moon would no longer "hit your eye like a big pizza pie", there would be no "moon out tonight" and no "moon over Miami" (or Parma, for that matter). Also, Van Morrison would no longer feel that it was a "marvelous night for a moon-dance", the cheap Irish bastard. Seriously, though, while these effects seem small, they would have cataclysmic effects for ol' Mother Earth. If a change of +2 degrees is going to have a deleterious effect on the earth's climate (you know, global warming), imagine what would happen if there were massive floods, asteroid impacts, longer or shorter periods of sunlight, and a lack of werewolves. Most of the world's species would be in danger of going extinct in the long run!
If we put a giant mirror at 10 lightyears' distance from the Earth, would we be able to see 20 years back by looking into that mirror from Earth?
That’s correct in terms of distance, once the mirror was in place for 10 years you could see light that was 20 years old. However, there are some other serious problems.Light intensity. From a distance of 20 light years (there and back) the earth would be invisible even with a perfect mirror. Exoplanets like Gliese 581 c have been discovered at this distance but they can’t be seen, they are detected via tiny wobbles in their star.Size. To see the whole earth, and therefore to return the maximum light, a planar mirror would have to be the half the size of the earth. Creating such a mirror might be impossible even with unlimited resources.Alignment. The mirror - half the size of the earth - would need to be aligned to an accuracy of less than a centimeter for any returning light to hit the earth. For the bounce light to hit a particular telescope you would need to align it to molecular accuracy. Tiny effects like radiation pressure would constantly be pushing it out of alignment.Surface shape. The surface would need to be shaped to molecular accuracy. From that distance getting a reflection of anything sightly imperfect would be like trying to get a decent reflection off crumpled tinfoil. Again forces like radiation pressure, gravity, differential heating would be constantly warping the mirror. Even the tiniest bend would make the mirror fail.It would be possible to use other shapes, for example, a very, very slightly parabolic mirror would improve the returned light enormously, and allow a smaller mirror but make the alignment problem worse.Even with unlimited resources and very advanced technology I doubt this is possible but feel free to give it a try.
Do you think the Apollo moon landing was faked?
I'm of the opinion that NASA faked the apollo moon landing, having looked at a monstrous pile of evidence. What do you think? Consider this: -It was during the time of a peak solar flare in which you need a few feet of lead to be able to protect an astronaut going through it from being killed (as worked out by russian astronomers and experts) And instead of a few feet of lead of protection they have a very thin lead shield. -The moon has no atmosphere yet the american flag shown on the moon is shown fluttering in the wind? In the videos it can clearly be seen flying despite the best efforts of the astronauts to keep it still. -They claim to be hundreds of thousands of miles away from the earth in one of the transmissions, yet they claim to be able to zoom in on their camera and see the earth, unless the camera is zoomed to infinity how is this possible? -They don't have pressurized suits in any of the videos or pictures, even outside of the space craft on the moon, how did they survive? -why can you see a rock with the letter 'C' on it, keep in mind these are commonly used in hollywood to mark the centre of the stage. -They claim to have taken pictures on 2 completely separate parts of the moon, miles away from each other but you can still see the same Mountain range in the distance? -Again the moon has no atmosphere, why can't any stars be seen in the pictures? Yes, NASA did fake the moon landings. The majority of the hoax was shot on the Universal back lot in Hollywood.
