Im trying to find a funny short story. its in first person and its about trying to avoid going to the dentist.?
I'm trying to find a piece for forensics. Last year a girl at competition did this really funny story written in first person about how people always try to put off going to the dentist as long as they can, and how everyone feels it necessary to tell everyone they have to go to the dentist. There's one part that about being in the waiting room...something like..."politely ignoring everyone else in the waiting room". Also, there's a part about trying to cancel the appointment but when you look in the phone book the number isn't there, but the next day the number has magically appeared. I'm not sure...I'm really at a loss at how to find it...so if anyone could help me, I would be eternally grateful!!!!
Battle royal short story by Ralph Ellison ?
I haven't read this in a while, but I might be able to help. The protagonist (if I remember correctly) gets to deliver a speech in front of a white audience, but first is subjected to humiliating events, such as being thrust into a boxing match where everybody is blindfolded, then loses to the last person standing (everybody else left the ring). Then a woman with an American flag tattooed on her stomach comes out; she represents the American dream, but the black men can only look at her, but not touch her. This represents the unattainability of the American dream to African Americans (this story was written before the civil rights movement). One of the most notable events is where, after the match, everyone picks up money off the floor, but the floor is electrified. (The protagonist notes that the "gold coins" were actually worthless tokens after the story.) So after all that is done, he makes his speech and wins a scholarship. Hope this helps :)
A good boy name for a story?
I'm writing a story about this young boy who is the heir to his rich family. He is hell raiser demon who steals souls from people as well and his mother died and this hell reaper comes along and says hey if you destroy the earth and everybody in it i will let you see your mother but then he falls in love with a women and when he destroys everyone and the world he will drag them to hell but im not sure i think its ok but i need a really really good boy name by the way im picky lol :)

Her fiance asked her, “now that you can see the world, will you marry me?” The girl was shocked when she saw that her fiance is blind too, and refused to marry him. Her fiance walked away in tears, and later wrote a letter to girl saying. “Just take care of my eyes dear.” Moral: This is how human brain changes when the status changed. Only few remember what life was before, and who’s always been there even in the most painful situations. Never take someone for granted, Hold every person close to your heart because you might wake up one day and realize that you have lost a diamond while you were too busy collecting stones. Can everyone write a good story/novel? Does creativity only come naturally? I want to know if good writing will come from practice?
Yes, YOU can be a writer! There are two things about Talent - received and acquired. People like Rabindranath Tagore are born with talent, and those like Arthur Conan Doyle acquire talent. The very fact that you raised this question, shows that you WANT to be a writer and that is enough to start with. If emotions do not flow on their own, you need to train yourself to become emotional. Learn others' emotions by feeling for them, by talking to them, by reading them. You are doing the best thing that can be done: You are reading books and novels and articles. Keep doing that. Remember, it is a process and do not wait to write until you have acquired enough expertise and proficiency. Just take out a piece of paper and write it down (if you are not happy writing on a PC) - that can be anything that you want. Writing answers here on Quora is definitely a good idea. It will help you articulate what you think/feel. Once you have practiced well, you will see writing has become easier. Write regularly - write whatever you like - but write on Microsoft Word (or any other similar word processor). I can see from your answers and question details that you have not written that in Word first, before posting. Do that. It will help you quickly fix your writing mistakes. And seeing those regularly will also prevent you from repeating those same mistakes. Write - read - post - discuss and repeat this regularly.Do not wait to write after you have read enough. Write now – Right now! Now is the right time to write. Start a Blog! Love what you write. Your writing will also love you back and will be able to take out your feelings and emotions in a better way. Write simple - using tongue twisting words and idioms/phrases does not make you a better writer - never, ever! Write what you know. What is the title of the short story where everyone is made to be equal? The one where if you are born beautiful, the u wear an ugly mask, or if you have good sight, you wear glasses which make you nearsighted. It centers around a young man covered in these shackles. He falls in love with a dancer on TV and throws off his inhibitors. He goes to the TV station and dances with the ballerina until a woman shows up and kills them both in mid air with a shotgun.
