Most popular songs from the 60s, 70s, 80s, 90s, 2000s, 2010s?

OK, Here's some top songs. I'm using the actual Billboard Charts to denote how big each hit was. I'll take you a few steps further and start in the 1920's. Every song is the actual ORIGINAL version that actually played in the years shown. There are NO remakes here. Click on the links to go directly to each song:

What from the 00s and 10s will become retro in the future?

It’s really hard to predict, but the most likely candidates are the most obvious and widely used, right? Bell bottoms became retro because EVERYONE had them. Nintendo became retro because it was EVERYWHERE and iconic and pioneered much of gaming. We have vinyl records and music CDs, and casette, 8 track and VHS tapes. What do we have today? These last few decades we saw physical media really blow up and start to burn out. The internet is so fast and so available that demand for DVD and Blu Ray based movies and games has been slowly in decline as digital downloads and streaming reign supreme in many areas like Steam for PC games, X Box Live and Playstation Network for console games, and Netflix, Hulu and Amazon for movies and TV.I’d guess the most likely thing of all to be a popular “retro” move in the future will be physical media; actually having a DVD, or a Blu Ray, or an XBox or Playstation game disc. Everyone will be streaming nearly all of that soon and many of us, like myself, already do.

What are 7 quintessential New Wave songs from the 70s or 80s?

New Wave.new waveˌn(y)o͞o ˈwāv/nouna new movement or trend, especially in the arts."a new wave was coming in architecture"a style of rock music popular in the 1970s and 1980s, deriving from punk but generally more pop in sound and less aggressive in performance.another term for nouvelle vague.I do know some songs that fit this catagory. The Jags “Back Of My Hand”I have this single and played it at most of the gigs I worked in the early to mid eighties. The Polecats “Make A Circuit With Me”Not sure whatever happened to these guys but I love this song.Split Enz “I Got You”Another song I played at my gigs almost every time. It’s a classic of the genre.Squeeze “Cool For Cats”I played this over and over, I could also include “Tempted” and “Black Coffee In Bed”Graham Parker And The Rumour “Local Girls”This is starting to look like one of my old mix tapes.Berlin “The Metro”I have this single as well, it packed the dance floors, always.Felony “The Fanatic”This is track seven, “can I have your autograph?” Cool video.Well, that’s seven but I don’t think I’m finished. Let’s do seven more.Cristina “Is That All There Is”?Oh this is a cover of a Peggy Lee song, with a twist. It’s the first time I looked this up and it’s cool they have the lyrics. Enjoy!D-Day “Too Young To Date”This is more of the dark side of New Wave, a rare single. Cover the ears of the children!Rodney And The Brunettes “Little G.T.O.We have to pay tribute to The Mayor Of The Sunset Strip! Rodney BingenheimerThe Humans “I Live In The City”Another 45 from my collection that I could never part with, a band from Santa Cruz, California. The Fleshtones “The Right Side Of A Good Thing”Punk or New Wave? I don’t know, maybe it’s best if the lines are blurred. The Kings “Switchin’ To Glide”This song is a forgotten classic, if you haven’t heard it you are in for a treat. The Kingbees “My Mistake”Well, yeah these guys are cool.I’d like to thank my 45 collection for helping me to answer this question, it really helped jog my memory. When I bought most of this stuff I was absolutely sure I was onto “The Next Big Thing.” I may have been wrong about the longevity of these bands, or the lasting appeal of these songs but I still like them. What didn’t make it?The Plimsouls “A Million Miles Away”The Motels “Suddenly Last Summer”The Records “Starry Eyes” and “Yellow Pills”Alice Cooper “Clones”M “Pop MuzikBruce Woolley & The Camera Club “Clean Clean”The Vapors “Turning Japanese”Well, yeah I guess they did make it.
