What should the other 28 NBA teams change to prevent another Cavaliers-Warriors finals next season?
These things have a way of working themselves out over time. The Cavs were arguably a missed goaltending call on Lebron away from not even making it out of the first round against the Pacers. The Rockets were arguably a healthy Chris Paul away from beating the Warriors. What we are witnessing with the same two teams meeting in the finals for the 4th consecutive year has never happened before for a reason. Just sit back and enjoy the rivalry between these two teams for the history that it is. This is the last year they BOTH make the finals. You can take that to the bank. So just enjoy.Worth noting, this is also the last year Lebron suits up as a Cleveland Cavalier. Their management has not demonstrated the ability to surround him with top tier talent, and unless they win the championship and attract someone with the star power of Paul George or another top free agent, he’s taking his talents elsewhere. It’s too late in his career for him to waste seasons padding stats being the central focal point on lackluster teams. Championships are what matter to him at this point. And since he won’t be winning this year (sorry Cleveland fans, but the Warriors are a superior team in virtually every statistical category and have 4 out of the top 5 players in the series), he’s gonna go somewhere where he thinks he’ll have a better shot. Likely, still in the east, as the West is about as deep as any conference has been at any point, but the east won’t exactly be a cakewalk. There’s this team in Boston that knows they were a quarter away from the NBA finals this year, and will have two of their all-stars back next season. No matter who comes out of the west next year (my pick is the Warriors until proven otherwise), the NBA finals will include a team from Boston next year.
How do NBA playoffs and conferences work?
There are 2 conferences, Eastern and Western Conferences. 3 divisions in each conference consisting of 5 Teams each. depending on where the team is located (i.e. southwest, pacific, Atlantic) The Top 8 teams of each conference based on record, regardless of division, advance to the playoffs. so there are 8 Eastern Teams and 8 Western Teams. The Top 4 Teams in each Conference get Home-court advantage. The seeds decide who faces whom in the playoffs (1 vs 8, 2 vs 7, 3 vs 6, 4 vs 5) Teams play in a 7 game series. Most People think that the Western Conference in the tougher Conference of the 2 because many teams on the cusp of .500 or a little past .500 in winning percentage make the Eastern conference playoffs while most teams with identical records in the west are far from getting in the playoffs. Atlantic Division Boston Celtics New York Knicks New Jersey Nets Philadelphia 76ers Toronto Raptors Southeast Division Atlanta Hawks Charlotte Bobcats Miami Heat Orlando Magic Washington Wizards Central Division Chicago Bulls Cleveland Cavaliers Detroit Pistons Indiana Pacers Milwaukee Bucks Northwest Division Portland Trail Blazers Minnesota Timberwolves Oklahoma City Thunder Denver Nuggets Utah Jazz Southwest Division Dallas Mavericks Houston Rockets Memphis Grizzlies New Orleans Hornets San Antonio Spurs Pacific Division Golden State Warriors Los Angeles Clippers Los Angeles Lakers Phoenix Suns Sacramento Kings
