Neck Pain After Throwing Ball

Side pain after throwing?

When your throwing an object when you put your arm out to release the ball your stretching the muscle in your side and when you throw something as hard as you can your are pulling the muscle and you've probably ripped it in the process. The best way to cure the pain is to alternate hot and cold, i.e. a heating pad for about 20 minutes and then an ice pack for about 20 minutes. It's okay, your going to be fine.

Neck pain after throwing ball?

When I was your age I had the exact same problem. The first time it happened was when I was throwing a football really hard, and it felt as if I tore the muscle on the side of my neck, right up the side of my head. Right afterwards, I had a tingling sensation in that area like when your arm wakes up after going numb. I was really scared and it happened on multiple occasions afterward, but it turned out to be nothing serious since I'm still alive 20 years later. I think it might have been related to the fact that I was still growing up, and my nerves and muscles in that area might have been sensitive to certain movements. In afterthought, I think it might have been an irritated nerve, because if it would have been a muscle injury, it would have hurt afterwards, which was not the case. Anyways, I don't know if you have been having the exact same symptoms and I'm not a doctor, so I cannot diagnose your condition and give you advice. All I can do is share my experience that seems very similar to yours when I was your age. As a precaution, I refrained from throwing the football for a while, but whenever I threw it, the tearing sensation was sometimes felt. This problem diminished over the years, and today I can't even remember when was the last time it happened.. maybe my early 20s? Like I said, I think it might have been related to the fact that I was still physically growing in my teen years, and when I was a full grown adult, it disappeared.

There many shoulder injuries related with throwing. Which part of throwing hurts you will explain which area is involved, and few specific tests (not the lab tests but physical tests) are needed to specify muscle or soft tissue which ia involved.

Shoulder pain when throwing?

This caught my attention because I have permanent ulnar nerve damage in my right elbow and arm - I wish I had seen my orthopedist sooner! It sounds like the strain you're experiencing is fairly mild now, but I hope you'll see your general doctor or orthopedist (which would be my choice) who can tell you exactly what's going on and what to do about it. ALSO - pls. stop any activities that cause pain until your doctor clears you for them.

Here's some excellent information from http://www.throwinginjuries.com/

'Baseball and other throwing sports put tremendous stress on the shoulder and elbow. As more athletes play more baseball and softball at younger ages, Sports Medicine specialists see more and more elbow and shoulder pitching injuries. The most devastating of these is a torn ulnar collateral ligament of the elbow (also known as the medial collateral ligament). Often this serious injury needs a elbow ligament reconstruction known as a "Tommy John" procedure. Ulnar collateral ligament tears can start slowly as an elbow sprain and progress steadily, or can happen all at once. Ulnar collateral ligament tears result in pain on the inner side of the elbow with throwing, and difficulty controlling the pitch. When the symptoms are mild, rest and medication may take care of the problem. However, if the athlete is unable to pitch due to the pain the "Tommy John" operation is needed.'

Upper arm pain as a result from throwing?

I'm 14 years old and I play pitcher and shortstop, but I've had a problem with my upper arm/shoulder hurting for as long as I can remember.

The pains started last baseball season or the year before and I'm getting pretty sick of it. I've been playing through the pains and I just want it to stop.

The pains aren't necesarily IN my shoulder, it's more like my upper arm (between shoulder and elbow). I don't think it's a muscle injury, I think it's tendons. I play football also, and i've been diagnosed with tendonitis in my legs, so could tendonitis also be in my arm causing pain?

I do have decent mechanics so I don't think that's the reason. I do pitch pretty fast (around 70-75) and I do throw pretty hard when playing the field. I don't really want to slow down my pitching though.

I'm looking for a way to prevent the pain from starting at all, and ways to relieve the stress put on my arm. Streches/techniques/basically anything to fix my arm pains. Any help would be great.

P.s. Don't give me any bs about seeing a doctor, 'cause i'm not going to. I don't want to spend a hundred dollars for the doctor to just tell me I have tendonitis (which is what happened last time). Just give me some ideas on what to do to fix this.

Not so sure about tennis elbow … Sounds like it's above that area, maybe in the shoulder or supra spinatus tendon?Depending on the cause, you might need rest, or physical therapy and home exercises, or other treatment.I suggest seeing an orthopedic specialist for a proper evaluation and treatment plan.Good luck.

Baseball shoulder in serious pain when throwing.?

I was having track practice when we start lifting weights. I am 130 pounds, 14 years old and 5 foot 11. What we did was take 25 pound weights and hold them straight out in front of us then lift them upwards 15 times each round for three rounds. Other exercises were involved but not as important. Anyway, later on in the week I had baseball practice and could not throw the ball properly. The second my arm went over my shoulder tto release I had a striking pain in my shoulder. Having looked it up I applied ice many times but still, now a week later, i cannot throw a baseball. Tommy john surgery does not apply as it is my shoulder. This is very urgent as I pitch and love doing so. . This is very important please give me as much information as you can on what I should do and what happened. Please. Any other details can be given through email if needed, just someone tell me what's going on.

Is neck pain normal after vomiting?

Going the the hospital would be a good idea right now hun - vomiting blood is not normal and can be a sign of a bleeding stomach ulcer (which could be the explanation of your stomach pain), infection of your digestive system, inflammation of your stomach lining, or the lining of your esophagus or stomach eroding away. Your bulimia is likely to be a major part of this. You DO have medical problems - bulimia, vomiting blood and having a tight chest are serious health problems and should NOT be ignored. Please go to the doctor and get help. Continuing to be bulimic will only become more and more deadly and unpleasant, so you might as well get help while you can. Your parent's should not be planning your funeral at your young age.
