I'm a huge fan of reading and it's easy for me to read on my cellphone. I used to buy books on a different website, but Google Play is easier and cheaper. My question is: Do I need internet to be able to read the books I bought?

In the Internet era, what do you think about books?

Some answers are really funny. A real way to entertain yourself. How ironic. The world is so polluted because of the industry, factories and especially from the cars that we drive everyday, that we really need to do something. We kind of need to breathe more and to protect mother nature. Assuming that you are aware in what world we live, people should feel guilty when they read a full 500 page printed novel instead of reading an "Eco" version. In my opinion, it's the future. Digital books have LOTS of advantages:Instant deliveryNo additional taxesNo need to pay for transportEnvironmentally friendlyUnlimited storageUnlimited stockNo need to cut treesCheaperOffers the easiness of updating an errorCons You need a device to read itOK, you need a device. Most of us have at least a smartphone and a laptop (even a tablet), so owning a Kindle device and an external battery (if needed) is a piece of cake. I prefer purchasing a Kindle book with $3.99 to read it instantly rather than waiting for someone to cut 5 trees to produce some paper for my book which would be delivered 1 week after I order it and it would probably come with a few pages ripped off or damaged. As a matter of fact, I self-publish books myself (check out my Quora profile).

How internet is better than books?

Numerous reasons apart, books are a good source of a lot of information. But they lack the ability to be always up to date with time. When communication was not digital, information used to take time to get transmitted. Internet solved this time delay, and lots of information started to travel around the world within milliseconds. On Internet, the authenticity of facts and figures can be well challenged and stats can be verified by a mass community of people. While with a book, the entire information is for consumption, and nothing can be challenged. While a book may demand you to read all of its content to seek what you were looking for, the Internet might give it to you in the most abridged version possible. Thus saving your precious time, while there may be slight compromises with the details.Sharing is quick over the Internet. While it is mostly slow with books, sometimes it becomes just impossible to share.Though I myself love to read books rather than to stare at a bright collection of pixels long enough to strain my eyes, the question was framed to point pros of the Internet over Books.

A BETTER WAY TO LEARN : BOOK or INTERNET?

Even though we're in a so called high technology, we learn so much more in a book than in the internet, depends on the field of study you are in right now, there's so much to learn in a book with different tactics, if you had some questions regarding such problems in the field of mathematics, the internet won't provide you such details to solve it in a way that you want it to comprehend more. Internet won't give you all the details you want to know, yeah, books are costly but we had the library which can provide us a free of service.Books widen up our own horizons, more vivid details. High technology like internet provides us details just like in the book, but just like I said depends on the field of study you're in...actually internet will be the fastest way to get an answer but there's more to it that we want to explore more in a book.

Some individual who had problems finding answers to their questions they google it and not satisfied on some sites...yahoo answers lend you a hand in some ways but not all people here will provide you the right answer, some will give you a different remarks! You dig it yourself and explore and there you can decide which one.

Both books and internet widen up your knowledges to learn more about what's surrounds us. It's all up to us. So much to learn so much to explore in both with interesting facts. Perhaps in the future, most of the things we need in our field of study will be there all in the so- called advanced high technology.

Do you NEED books for online classes?

Not all of the information on the internet is reliable, in order to learn you need to have the textbooks. It's probably possible to complete an online course without a textbook, but that is yet another reason why online classes are questionable and often not respected. You should at least have your textbook and pretend that it's a legitimate class. You can get them for far less than your bookstore has them online at amazon or another bookstore. Renting isn't a very good option because you can't mark the book and if you lose it they'll charge you a lot more.

Is reading books still important now that we have the internet?

Yes of course, according to me books are the most important thing in the world right. In this era of globalisation and technological advancements I feel that a child born in this ear is somewhat getting away from the culture of reading books. Earlier even cartoons and men like superman , spiderman etc were identified through comic books, but today we have TV ,internet and thus very less of the children are into reading comic books. Books are important today because through internet ,you cannot get the whole picture, on internet its in bits and parts. A book tells you the entire picture ,a book guides through each and every step precisely. People say and I also agree that we can get to any part of world , imagine living any type of life ,be at any point of time through books. You cannot imagine yourself in the 18th century Europe or the Mongolian Empire of Genghis Khan by reading bits and pieces of literature scattered all over the internet. You got to have a collection of things and situations and events that happened and the books in the history genre and capable enough to make you think that you are one of the people living in Germany in the time of Hitler. Similarly for other cases as well.I would say why not use technology to make books more and more popular for example by making kindles cheap enough to be afforded by people, adding more user friendly features on the pdf readers or kindle, making ebooks more readily available. This would keep the reading culture alive in our society because knowledge is the key. I am not denying the fact that internet is a huge collections of facts and knowledge but its scattered in bits and pieces here and there ,having everything important about a topic clubbed into a single text is very important.

Do we really need teachers and schools, if books and the Internet are available for everyone?

Well to start with, books and internet are definitely not available to everyone. I live in a country where I can truly appreciate the fact that I can afford high speed internet or order any book I want but I see so many less fortunate who can't even imagine what that feels like. Now unto the main question the answer is yes. We do need teachers and schools. Maybe they need to change, maybe we don'tneed them in the way they are now, but we do need teachers and mentors. Here's the thing school is more than just the place we learnt calculus or how the Earth is round (shots fired). It's a place that forms a major part of a child's formative years. Where we learn to socialize with our peers and how to submit to authority beyond just our parents. Human interaction is not something one can learn in a book or on the internet, and it would be a big mistake to underestimate how big a role school plays in training us for it.Is it perfect? No. Can it be better? Absolutely. But even as flawed as it is, it's still an opportunity too teach kids that the real world isn't perfect or kind. And they have to be ready to become the change they wanna see in the world.

Is it possible to download free books from internet and transfer it to the Kindle?

Kindle is the front runner in establishing, propagating and promoting the culture of eBooks all over the world. With its intuitive technology, it has been successful in bringing about digital revolution per se. The major factor which establishes Amazon Kindle’s dominance over the digital market is, its tie up with Kindle store and a sleuth of features like continuous sync of reading history, preferences, titles etc across various devices registered under the same account details, every time. However, with this feature, Amazon Kindle devices, only seem to work if the titles are bought in Amazon Portal. Fortunately, there are some tricks where you could actually load up books from other sites and read them on Kindle.,1. You might have used Whisper-sync to actually transfer Kindle content from Amazon online portals to your devices. The main reasons for using whisper-sync is that, you get online support from Amazon and having Wikipedia access for search and find terms etc.2. Also, if you do not have whisper-sync on your device chances are that you cannot get free samples of books to try and buy. You shall then need to buy the whole book with no information as to how it is content wise or material wise.3. However, you can actually skip using whisper-sync on your device. You can always purchase books online and download them to your PC. Since, the books are delivered to the Kindle app installed on PC, you will need to visit documents and find the mobi books in the folder.4. The first step in getting to read mobi files in-spite of whispersync is connecting your device to the PC. The PC will recognise the Kindle device as an USB storage after installing the required drivers. You then need to transfer your book files to the device.5. You shall need to transfer the eBook (assuming in Mobi format) to the documents folder of the Kindle device both in PC or on Mac. Thereby, you can disconnect the device and read the eBooks on your device with all the ease.
