Need Help For Pathology Microbiology Parasitology And Pharmacology

Need help for pathology , microbiology, parasitology and pharmacology?

There are no apps to adequately replace your textbooks, or the time you must devote to reading. "Big" Robbins for pathology is the best textbook and reference you can use, with online access available when purchased. Your current texts should be adequate for the remainder of your classes.

Perhaps you need to speak to student counseling about how you are studying, rather than what you use as a resource. I know you are a good student...you've made it to second year! Tweaking your study methods may help with your comprehension, and relieve your stress and anxiety.

Good luck, and don't give up. We have all felt this way during medical school.

Branches of microbiology?

There are all sorts of ways to break that down. In college it is often broken down into basic microbiology and pathogenic microbiology.

"Microbiology is a broad term which includes virology, mycology, parasitology, bacteriology, immunology and other branches."

What are some good books on medical pharmacology, pathology, microbiology and forensic medicine toxicology?

If you are content in passing your University examination, then:Pharmacology: K. D. Tripathi/ Sharma/ SatoskarPathology: HarshmohanMicrobiology: Ananthnarayan + Chatterjee for parasitologyForensic Medicine: KSN Reddy synopsisIf you want to understand the subject, or are preparing for entrance examination, then:Pharmacology: Katzung textbook (read the textbook; keep the board review only after you have had at least some basic understanding). Katzung keeps only what is relevant and mercilessly removes the irrelevant and obsolete information: the no-nonsense approach.Pathology: Robbins Basic Pathology (Keep the Pathological Basis of Disease only for your internship/ post-internship). Unlike books by other foreign authors, the language in this is so good that you will get a feeling that the authors are speaking with you.Microbiology: Ananthnarayan is actually good; you may consult Jawetz in addition. Board review by Jawetz has wonderful chapters on ImmunologyFMT: KSN Reddy synopsis is actually enough; if the subject interests you, you may go for the Textbook by KSN Reddy.PS: My suggestions on Pathology, Microbiology and FMT are based on my experience while I was studying MBBS, almost 8 years back. Pharmacology recommendations are the same that I give to my students. Best, consult the faculties of the respective departments in your medical college.

I have not studied pharmacology, pathology and microbiology the entire year and have 2 months before my exam, can I complete my course well enough to top?

Thanks for the A2A. You couldn't find anyone better than me to answer this, trust me. I did it, and I scored 72% in a time period of 3 weeks.First,  yes you can score well, above 70% in specific. But, to top the exam, the chances are less, unless you are an exceptional student with photographic memory. Have your books ready and dedicate yourself to those books. Try not to be distracted. Chant the mantra of path; micro and pharma for these 2 months. Cut out quora. Keep it only as a bonus reward for the study you do!What books are you following for the subjects? That will be important too.Don't do Robbins. Hell with it, burn it ( just for these exams ). Try Consise pathology for undergraduates and Arora guide. Harshamohan for figures. Do pharmacology from Tara Shanbag and classifications from Tripathi.  Bhaveja or CMMRS for microbiology. New edition of Panikar for parasitology is awesome. Do it.Cram these books and 2 months is more than enough. Some extra tips: ~Just make a point to read one classification in pharmacology every day!~There are classic drugs that one has to know. DON'T MISS THEM.~Don't try to read pathology for more than 2 hours in a stretch. Combine it with forensic or micro.~Practise histology figures and try to read the path answers based on it; not the other way round. ~Give micro 2-3 reads before expecring to retain every fact! I hope this helps you. If you need any more guidance or help, ask. Good luck, and don't waste your time. P.S : This will work out if you are above average student. But topping the exam is a bit farfetched at this point. Work for it though.

Is Biology a "hard" science?

Biology contains many different branches...

A hard science is usually identified by quantifiable measurements together mathematical analysis and predictions based on theory...

For most of the branches of biology those requirements are met....

Biology is a hard science....

Branches of Biology:
Aerobiology - Agriculture- Anatomy
Astrobiology - Biochemistry - Bioengineering
Bioinformatics - Biomathematics or Mathematical Biology
Biomechanics - Biomedical research - Biophysics
Biotechnology - Building biology - Botany
Cell biology - Conservation Biology - Cryobiology
Developmental biology - Ecology - Embryology
Entomology - Environmental Biology - Epidemiology
Evolutionary Biology - Genetics - Herpetology - Histology
Ichthyology - Integrative biology - Limnology
Mammalogy - Marine Biology - Microbiology
Molecular Biology - Mycology - Neurobiology
Oceanography - Oncology - Ornithology
Population biology - Population ecology - Population genetics
Paleontology - Pathology - Parasitology
Pharmacology - Physiology - Phytopathology
Psychobiology - Sociobiology - Structural biology
Virology - Zoology

What are the different branches of biology?

branches of biology are: 1-astrobiology 2-anatomy 3-biophysics 4-biochemistry 5-botany 6-bioengineering 7-cell biology 8-cryobiology 9-developmental biology 10-ecology 11-evolutionary biology 12-genetics 13-microbiology 14-marine biology 15-paleontology 16-pathology 17-physiology 18-neurobiology 19-molecular biology 20-zoology

What books are best for second-year MBBS subjects, i.e. pathology, pharmacology, microbiology and forensics that will help in the AIIMS PG and USMLE?

First of all congratulations for clearing your 1st year In MBBS which is a crucial step.As for the booksNothing can beat Robins for pathology though you may feel it's cumbersome and takes for ever to read but believe me if you are planning to crack USMLE or AIIMS there is no other substitute. Think of it like INCEPTION which might be difficult to understand but if u do you won't forget it for a very long time and harsh Mohan like any Govinda movie which u will see and for get very soon.As far as microbiology goes there are a plethora of books both Foriegn and indian I feel anathanarayana and panikar have done a good job but u can also read baveja just because the language is very simple and to the point .Pharmacology is a different ball game all together. This is one subject which will vapourise the moment you close the book so what are my choices? Tripathi for your exams and Lippincott for quick review and u may also read satoskar thought this is a very old book it still makes sense just read adrenergic and cholinergic drugs from this book . Both the books have a different style of writing you may come to love it or hate it or visevera when comparing satoskar with Tripathi.Forensic medicine is an additional subject which everybody wants to neglect or forget but remember if you want to score good percentage befriend with forensic as it's easily readable and has very less syllabus for undergrads. Books you can always read r.anantnarayana but just to enjoy the subject further read forensic medicine book by Dr. B Umadethan. Also start reading books by Kaplan and lectures . The earlier you start the better most of the students comit a serous mistake and take up the course in their final year.If you are up for AIIMS or neet be good with basics from Robins , and also take up a foundation course by the various coaching centres designed for 2nd 3rd final years.Remember nothing beats hardwork.

Does nutrition fall under the branch of biology?

both biology and health

Which author should I prefer for the books of pathology, pharmacology, microbiology, parasitology in MBBS ?

pathology is Robbins and Robbins and Robbins cover to cover to cover to cover. It is a advice often taken lightly but Robbins is a book not only important for your professional but also for your Pg entrance examinaions. For pharma, depends on your university. There are three books. If your university is asking simple linear questions then KT thripadi is really good to get a D because it gives a comphrensive and exhaustive details on drugs. KK is good for concepts and understanding concepts for pharmacological mechanisms. CDMT2018 is not a pharma book but can be referred for standard treatment guidelines at the end. Try correlating your pharma with medicine. Learn holitiscally how to prescribe trying to understanding patient factors. The selection of best drug for the patient in the array of drug available.Katzung give you the best clinical correlation but maybe tough to understanding. All this is idealistic advice for pharma. My personal favorite is grg class bz at the end, remembering pharma is more difficult and mind boggling. For micro, any book should suffice. Chose your favorite. Anandnayaran is paragraphs of microbiology facts but CB Baveja is a book with information in bullets. Greenwood microbiology so not have all information you require for Indian micro exams but very good clinical coorelates (never asked in paper) never found any good book of micro.Try first aid just for reference. Add your Indian info on it. It will make some pretty note good for your Pg and proffs. Because learning micro is all about trying to classify your bug, and first aid give some pretty good charts showing it. Try remembering at least key details for each bug and correlating. There is little concept behind microbiology, but finding similarities behind bugs and putting them together is all micro. Because if you know these 5 bugs have this and this property rather then trying to remember them separately.Do your lab diagnosis and always make diagrams in it.Micro I preferred Apurva shastry book for ugs, but be aware, it has mistakes and chatterjee for parasitology.Chatterjee is a beautiful beast of a book. Try not missing out reading it.At the end, micro will be also about trying to list bugs causing pneumonia etc disease. Thus good correlation required, for example top three bugs causing meningitis also are capsulated and produce IgA proteaes. All bugs causing infective endocarditis will be commensal atmouth cavity.Make mnemonics and remember micro.
