How do I fix my toshiba MK1237GSX-S1 laptop?

My toshiba laptop turns on, but stays on the next page saying 'Microsoft Corporation' with a rolling diagram. It won't go any further. I don't mind re-booting it and losing everything if need be- I just need my laptop to work for school work. Please help...

Toshiba Laptop Full Recovery?

I have a Toshiba X205-S7483 with Vista OS. I am trying to do a full system recovery (I'm aware that the hard drive gets wiped). I have tried the powering up while holding 0 (zero) method, but I just keep holding 0 (zero) and nothing happens... or when it beeps and I let go it stays on the same screen. I've also tried to do the Advanced Booting options method, but when I try to do the Toshiba Recovery Wizard it asks for disks that I don't have (nor do I want to buy). I have read about a download directly from their site that can do this, but I haven't been able to locate it.

If someone could please assist me in a method other than what I've listed, a link to the Toshiba download (not just to their official site), or a link to a site that offers free recovery disks it would be appreciated. I am only interested in a full system restore to factory (out of the box) settings.

After spending $1600 on this laptop, I am only looking for free ways to do this.

Thank you for your time and help

My headphone jack not working on toshiba laptop?

The headphone jack actually works -- when I test it in sounds in the control panel. But they don't automatically turn on when I plug them in. The regular laptop speakers keep playing.

Would it hurt or help my gaming laptop to keep its fans running at max speed?

The fan doesn't need to be on continually.Fans normally run when the temperature reaches a preset upper level and automatically turns off when it's done it's job. To leave it on maximum all the time is inviting trouble. Most Gamers wear headphones anyway so they don't hear the noise.Fans only have one moving part, the ball bearings (you thought I was going to say the blades didn't you?). The ball bearings are pre-greased during manufacturing and when it's continually running, the constant spinning wears out the grease, burns out the bearings and the plastic it's set in. When that happens, you’ll hear grinding and the temperature will rise… FAST. Which will force the fan to try to spin and will fail. Then it might give you a pop up message saying there's a temp warning. If it can't cool off, it might be preset to shut itself off as a safety measure. Leaving you with a very expensive brick!Fans are not replaced by the consumer. It's done by a trained, certified technician (like me). If it's under warranty, you have nothing to worry about (other than you can't use the laptop until the fan gets replaced). If it's out of warranty, you're stuck for the cost, and you can't use it until it's replaced.Let the BIOS set the fan to run only when it's necessary. You’ll extend the life of your fan and it’ll cool your system just fine.

HELP ME!!! How do I turn laptop screen off but keep programs running?

Depends on your laptop options. Why not just set the screen saver timeout and turn off power save options on the hibernate? On machines like HP and Lenovo, you can hit the function and display hot key to toggle the display. Unless you have an issue with the screen being active, I would simply use the screen saver.

To set your power management options, open the control panel and power options. In Vista/win 7 just search for power options. Go through the sections and it's pretty self explanatory - in other words you can set the options so if you close the lid it won't shut off or hibernate.

Why does my Toshiba TV keep turning off? How can this be fixed?

The possibilities are too many.It could be a heat issue with the TV setIt could be a software issue with the TV set, for example energy saving settings or active stand by mode.It could be a timer set up in the TV set menu.It could be a faulty power supply. It could be a very unstable mains supply (not very likely, but possible)You can check the user manual for information about +“TV power on control (Active Standby)”+Sometimes the LED’s on the front of the TV indicate may indicate “the issue”:Orange - ON could mean: Active Standby “Programmer timer is set”+ Orange – OFF could mean: Active Standby “Programmer Timer is NOT set”+Maybe you could try to reset your TVIn other words, your question is not answerable without further testing on the actual TV.

How long can I use my Toshiba laptop without a battery?

Hi,It’s not good to use laptop without battery, there are many aspects that can affect laptop’s performance and can damage components of laptop. If you are using laptop without battery than variation in power can cause components on laptop’s mother board to fail.Battery in laptop acts as UPS so in many ways it saves your laptop’s components from failure. If you are staying in area where electricity fluctuates than It will damage your laptop badly and it will reduce life of your laptop and as well as it’s components life, better to use laptop with batter or with UPS.If you are using your laptop without battery and suddenly power outage occurs then it will damage your laptop components, mother board and you will lose your work as well. There is no any problem in using laptop without it’s battery unless any of above mentioned case occurs.

Toshiba laptop gets blue screen of death, what can I do to fix it?

My toshiba satellite L645D-S4030 gets a blue screen randomly which says it is dumping memory... it stays for 5 seconds, too little for me to write down what it really says, but its in a blue box and it says those things. I opened it in safe mode and did restore to a week after buying the laptop and it still happens. I got anti malware, and it found 0 items. and then the symantec endpoint anti virus I have searches and finds several .tmp files, and then the program crashes. I don't know if those are related. Anyway I need to find solutions to get my computer back to regular function, because I get the screen during regular stuff like browsing the internet or using itunes. I also had a $300 warranty from best buy but that apparently only covers hardware damage. please help me, thanks.

My laptop isn't Shutting Down. What should I do?

This problem happened to me, and a hard reset fixed it. Simply hold down your power button until it turns off. If this doesn’t work for some reason, unplug it and take out the battery (I’m assuming your laptop has one).Hope this helps!

What does the symbol mean on the bottom of my toshiba laptop?

I just got a new battery for my toshiba satellite laptop and its the first one I have since I got the laptop.
I charged it but I see a battery symbol on the bottom and a unlock symbol. Which one do I put it on once its charged so it won't keep charging or does it matter?
The switch I'm talking about is on the bottom and it slides either way.

Any help would be great thanks,
