Need Help With A Life Of Pi Essay Need Someone

Life of Pi - HELP :(?

Something my high school english teacher told me about perfect essay writing is the following formula

1. Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em
2. Tell 'em
3. Tell 'em whatcha told 'em.

It can be used for any type of essay in any setting from elementary school up to college.

This is what that means

1. Tell 'em what you're gonna tell 'em.
This is where you make your opening statements. Sum up everything you're going to say in your essay. Outline main points and arguments in brief sentances. It should be no more than two paragraphs long.

For example, you could write "Today, I'm going to convince you that the continued use of fossil fuels is bad. I will show the harmful effects on the envirornment from production and waste products. Blah, blah, blah."

2. Tell 'em.
This is where you make your arguments. Provide proof, site references, quotes, etc. It should be at least two to three paragraphs long with each paragraph covering only ONE point. Multiple paragraphs can be used to cover one point, but NOT multiple points in one paragraph.

3. Tell 'em whatcha told 'em.
This is where you sum up. Again you breifly touch on each point/argument made in the main body of your essay. And again it should be no more than one or two paragraphs.

Using the fossil fuels example, you could say "I've shown the negative impact of fossil fuel use. As you can plainly see, fossil fuels create acid rain, toxic air, and destroy lakes and streams. Blah, blah, blah." You could end with a quote or the ultimate message you want the reader to be left with for a strong ending.

So now you know how to write the thing. What do you put in it? You say that Pi is resourceful and observant. Think of three times in the story when he was resourceful. Think of three times when he was observant. How did those times ultimately help him? Be as accurate and descriptive as possible.

I hope this helps. And good luck with your essay.

I need help in analyzing this Life of Pi quote!?

This is not a homework assignment I am asking you to do, I assure you! I am writing an essay and came across this quote, finding it very deep, but I cannot, for the life of me analyze it and put it into words. I want to use this quote, but I need to be able to deeply analyze all meaning behind it. Any help would be appreciated.

“The arrogance of big-city folk! You grant your metropolises all the animals of Eden, but you deny my hamlet the merest Bengal tiger! … If you stumble at mere believability, what are you living for? Isn’t love hard to believe? … Don’t bully me with your politeness! Love is hard to believe, ask any lover. Life is hard to believe, ask any scientist. God is hard to believe, ask any believer. What is your problem with hard to believe?" - Page 375

Thank you lots to whoever answers.

What is the core theme or message to the film Life of Pi (2012)?

Its an awe inspiring novels and gives us lots to think about... There are many themes beautifully dealth with in the novel... I'm listing a few of them down...1) Religion... Novel outlines that faith is important and it can help us in thd most adverse circumstances but Religion as such should not be blindly trusted. This is in context of the "Carnivorous island", which as the answers given above rightly point, represents Religion... You can turn towards it in the most difficult circumstances and it will provide for you... But three things on the island tells us not to trust Religion blindly (1) the merekats represent the blind followers of religion... they don't see the rights and wrongs of religion, they blindly follow its rule but are not aware of the other dangers which they tend to ignore due to the false sense of security which religion provides, the dangers like ignorance, stereotypical prejudices, false nd even fatal beliefs. The merekats are not aware of the danger which Richard Parker or PI pose to them, they are contented eating dead fish nd following rules of island. RP attacks them and eats them or when Pi throws one down on the floor of the island to check the merekat simply comes back and stands besides PI or RP. (2) Next is the Algae which PI tastes on the island... Its core is salty but outer flesh is sweet... The same goes for religion... The outer appearance of a religion may look good and worthy of being follwed but there's a darker side too. (3) The teeths which PI finds denoting that religion finally devours the soul which it gives refuge if blindly followed. You become as lost as you felt found when you came under the refuge of religion. Here PI does not abondons Faith... He keeps faith with the good parts and leaves the bad parts.2) The two stories deal with the psychological aspects of human beings... We tend to believe or deduce an explanation which is reasonable and comforting instead of facing the reality as it is... Its a sort of survival mechanism... The reality may be too disturbing and brutal and would be dangerous and would lead to giving up of hope to live and find purpose in life.3) 'Hope and Trust' (Raft nd Life Boat)... Two most important tools given to us as mentioned in chap 56 to survive in this world, to fight 'fear' our real enemy which may endanger our survival. These are only a few aspects of the novel... There's a need for deeper dwelling in the novel would lead to deeper understanding of novel, of ways of life...

Analytical Life of Pi essay?

Hello Amy,
Pi Patel is on a ship to a whole new world. He's leaving his whole world behind except the zoo, it‘s on board with him. When awoken by a sound, Pi goes to explore. He finds that the ship is sinking and before he can wake his family he is thrown into a lifeboat. A zebra falls into the lifeboat, breaking its leg. Without truly realizing what he is doing, Pi helps Richard Parker onto the lifeboat. Then he realizes, he is on a lifeboat with a 450 pound Bengal tiger.

Pi builds a raft out of oars and life jackets so that he can stay a safe distance from the lifeboat. The lifeboat doesn't seem to have the tiger on it at all. Just a zebra and a hyena and orangutan. The hyena attacks both zebra and orangutan and then the tiger appears. He is sleek and quiet about his approach. None the less, Pi Patel is now alone on a lifeboat with Richard Parker. He wonders how he will survive with a tiger. Read more information here:

Lord of the Flies vs. Life of Pi conflicts essay?

I have an ISP essay due at the end of the week on comparing the conflicts between the books Lord of the Flies and Life of Pi. I am particularly focusing on two conflicts, person vs. person and person vs. environment/nature. My thesis is "In uncertain environments people search for power to control their surroundings that lead to bullying in the case Lord of the Flies and Life of Pi". The essay is expected to have an intro, 4 main paragraphs and finally followed by a conclusion, 6 paragraphs in total. I was having trouble starting this essay with my opening sentence. If you can help me on my essay please comment as soon as possible!

Thanks
