Need Help With My Ipod Nike

Nike+iPod sensor?

i run with the nike chip and i don't have nike +shoes. i don't put it under my sock, but instead on top of my foot. so, i put on my socks. put on my sneakers. before lacing up, i just slip the chip above my foot and below the top of my shoe so it's sandwiched in place. i have run marathon training runs with it and i don't even notice it's there. not uncomfortable at all.

they also sell pouches that you can tie onto your shoe. many people use those.

My nike + ipod app disappeared?

the original nike app should be an option already installed in your ipod. go to your settings and activate it.

How do I use Nike+ iPod app?

Nike+Ipod sensor won't activate?

You seem to have placed the sensor correctly in the shoe. Be sure that the Nike symbol faces the back of your shoe correctly. Also, if your receiver is not entirely inserted into the socket of the iPod, it may not pick up correctly. If, for example, you have a case in which your iPod is carried, be sure that it does not block the insertion of the receiver at all. Try taking your iPod out of the case, place the receiver back into the iPod and see if it picks up now. If it does, your carrying case would seem to be the problem. Lastly, try doing a soft reset of your iPod to see if that makes any difference. You do this by holding down Menu and the Center button simultaneously for about 6-10 seconds until the Apple symbol appears, then release both. I usually take my headphones and the receiver out when I do this. Now reinsert your first your headphones, then your receiver. If none of these maneuvers help, it would appear that you have a defective unit. Return it to Nike for a new one. It may be that your Nike+iPod unit was sitting around in the store for too long and the battery simply ran down. Good luck!

go for Asics they are great, I see a lot of top notch distance runners wear them. I love them, Asics is all i buy. You can buy a cheap pair for $39.99 they go up to $140.00 for the new ones (I should know i dropped that much on a pair. I know i am crazy)

How does the Nike app, that measures a runner/jogger's speed, distance and pace, work?

Basically there are two functions.First there is the GPS function. It switches on the GPS chip and this gives you location. It then logs your position (my Garmin GPS offers a choice of every 3s up to every minute) recording it and the timestamp. Then using trigonometry it then figures how far you have moved between each time stamp and thus how fast you are going. If it knows your weight it can then calculate the amount of energy that you will burn by moving at a particular speed (using lookup tables for the standard calories burns for your type of exercise). And so on for all the other functions

Do you need internet or wifi access to use the Nike running app on iphone?

i have a "retired" iphone 3 that my dad wants to use as an ipod and game thing. He downloaded the Nike running app that is supposed to track your running locations and such but i think you would need internet or wifi to work it but it says that an iPod can use it and they can only get wifi but you cant have wifi on a run.

Does the Nike+/iPod running system work with elliptical workouts?

I bought the Nike+ipod and I ended up getting rid of it within a week. I think I only used it a couple of times. Even after personalizing it to my stride it was still almost a half km inaccurate every time. Basically how it calculates your distance is it takes the amount of steps you take and multiplies it by the length of your stride. This method just doesn't work when running because you are always changing your speed and the length of your stride it never the same all the time as well, especially when going up and down hills. I'd suggest a garmin forerunner gps watch. They are a little more expensive but the accuracy compared to the Nike+ipod is incredible.
As far as ellipticals are concerned, the Nike+ipod would have no affect because it measures everything by the amount of steps you take and since you don't take any steps on an elliptical, it wouldn't work.
Hope that helps.
