For most movies, you can typically purchase tickets anywhere from 1-10 days in advance. Movie theaters usually update their showtimes on Monday-Thursday for the upcoming Friday-Thursday (excluding major holidays and Wednesday releases, these are usually slightly different). So as long as they have their showtimes posted, you can most always purchase directly from the theater in advance.In addition, in sites like Fandango and Movietickets.com, you can purchase in advance as well (one of their major value adds). Usually, there's a slight delay from when theaters post their showtimes to when they show up available for purchase on these websites.My company, Dealflicks, also sells movie tickets (we're now partnered with 230+ locations, which is now I've learned about showtimes and purchasing in advance :) We'll usually follow the same principles as Fandango and Movietickets.com mentioned above.Once in awhile, there'll be a major release (The Dark Knight Rises, etc.), and theaters will post their showtimes months in advance for opening weekend. Can yo buy movie tickets in advance at the box office? I can't order them at fandango.com (which really sucks for me). I'm gonna go to see Twilight, and I'm not sure if they would sell them like weeks or days before it comes out. I'm not even sure if that's allowed. I'm afraid that it's gonna be sold out!! If you book tickets for a film at cineworld in advance do you have to pay by card or can you pay by cash?
if you have to use a credit card, then i suggest you go to walgreens or someplace and get a visa gift card. its a credit card that you put cash on at the store (theres also like a $3-$5 service fee) and you can use that to pay for stuff online like movie tickets. you may need to put a minimum smount on the card like $20 so i suggest you make good use of this and plan out using it in the future. this is how i got Toy Story 3 Tickets.
How Soon Do Movie Tickets Go On Sale??
It depends on the theater chain also. For example, in my area you can buy tickets online 3 weeks out for Pacific Theaters, but Edwards only does 2 weeks out and AMC is even closer to the date. And for Prince Caspian, one theater started selling tickets 2 months ago! So if you are looking for a little movie that may not play everywhere, you may end up not being able to get the tickets until very close to the date. But if it's Sex and the City - I'd say they will be available within the next week at at least one theater!
Why do movies have advanced screenings before release?
A couple of reasons here. First, it is often required in many states that movies be screened for film buyers before release. Blind sales are prohibited in roughly half the country. Many films are not screened for critics. If the studio thinks the film is going to be trashed by critics, they often will not screen. That being said, not screening for critics is a sure sign that the film reeks. The box office gross on most films has no strong correlation to critical opinion. I've studied this and only specific types of films are affected strongly by critics. They primarily include those targeting an more adult audience that relishes thought provoking ideas. So, screening an Adam Sandler film has almost no effect on its box office. He has his followers and they show up regardless of critical opinion. However even he has managed to offend his followers to the extent that they are not showing up. His last two film were among his worst reviewed and among the worst grossing.So most are screened for critics, mostly box office results are uncorrelated to critical response. For example hangover 2 was voted 35% fresh at Rotten Tomatoes but did well over 200 Million in box office. Clash of the Titans did over 165 million box office but got 28% on RT. Generally films are screened for critics only about a week in advance at most.

I'd say go with a classic movie like Wizard of Oz-you could sell "Auntie Em's Brownies"(just regular batches of brownies), "Dorothy's Ruby Slippers Sugar Cookies" (shoe-shaped sugar cookies with red icing and a sprinkling of red sugar for sparkle), "Cowardly Lion Cupcakes" (reg. cupcakes decorated with a lion's face), "Yellow Brick Road Mix" (trail mix sold in sandwhich baggies), or maybe "Wicked Witch's Sludge" (fudge) Set up the items for sale on a green table cloth and decorate with signs that say "Emerald City Bake Sale" etc.Don't forget, those selling the items could dress up as characters!...Just a few suggestions... Really I think you could use any movie with seveal memorable characters and make this idea work....best of luck to you!
