Do I need a weightlifting belt?

A belt does two things, it keeps your form together and it distributes the weight in your abdomen. This can prevent hernias when performing heavy lifts.

So do you need a belt? No, probably not.

Since your lifts are under 200, you are not putting any extreme pressure on your back which means there is really no point.

It helps you keep a straight back when lifting things. If you can't do that then maybe you should think about investing in a belt.

As far as your bonus is concerned, just eat a lot but keep it balanced. If you must, give yourself an excess of protein. Creatine will help you out a bit with energy but not much else. It's useful for someone really trying to go the extra mile, but it won't do wonders for you. Make sure you have a MASSIVE whey protein shake after every workout. This will have a big impact on your progress.

How does weight lifting help if you are a point guard?

Strong legs, broad shoulders.

Does lifting weights burn fat?

Yes…and No.almost 4 years ago, I weighed over 300+ Lbs and was at about 49% Body Fat. I started weightlifting 6 days a week and eating a strict, competition-style diet. I meal prepped every week, and stuck to those foods I made religiously. I walked around with a SixPackBag (if you don’t know what those are google that shit, they’re amazing) everywhere I went. To the gym. To my work. To birthday parties. Everywhere. When it was meal time, it was meal-time. I never substituted.A year later of six days a week, with strict nutrition and no cardio I was down to 203LBs and about 14% body fat.I felt like a new man. However, I will say this. If you’re relying SOLELY on lifting weights to lose fat, then no, you probably won’t see much success. It takes a dialed in diet, and consistent application of said diet (and exercise) to successfully lose fat. These days I sit around 180, and 10% body fat, going to the gym 3 times a week. I’ve found the best ways to optimize my time and my nutrition, and really enjoy looking lean all year around with only a tiny bit of effort compared to the beginning. If you’re curious how I did that, drop a comment, shoot me an email, and I’d be happy to help.Hope this helps!

Do long distance runners need weight lifting?

I've been pondering this question lately...half of the material I have read said do it, and the other half didn't. I get mixed results. I can see how it would help, such as making you stronger, less prone to injury, etc. etc. On the other hand, I see it as not helping that much, because you could just get the same benefits from just maybe doing a hill work out for legs, and then just some pull ups and push ups for upper body (and 1 or 2 other exercises as well). I mean, I look at the best runners in the world who are all Africans, they rarely look buff at all. They are skinny as hell and they completely own countries like America who incorporate weight lifting often. Another example: my friend weight lifts every other day. Before he really started lifting weights, he started out 2 falls ago running a 5:49 mile and got himself to a 5:06 mile by mid may of 2007. Now he's down to a 4:55 mile; only 11 seconds faster.

Does general weight lifting lose belly fat?

This question often comes to my feed on Quora. I will try to shed some lights on the subject and share my experince.Belly fat is due to a sedentary lifestyle of poor diet, substandard nutraceutical in the food, enduring chronically stressful lifestyle, bad economic conditions, cultural causes among few other topics. The belly fat consists of two layers of subcutaneous and visceral adipose which have - gradually - accumulated and hard to remove quickly. Both layers of fat are posing a different level of health danger.A change of lifestyle can significantly reduce the fat deposits. A lifestyle change means a drastic change of nutrition, the addition of high-intensity activities and sporting movements, following the new diet and continuous recuperation and recovery. It takes time. You can technically reduce belly fat by strictly using a new suitable diet without the aid of high-intensity activities, however, if a combination of intense sporting activities such as weightlifting and proper nutrition utilized, in time you can significantly speed up the process of fat loss. The role of hormones is significant. Usually, a healthy diet mixed with weightlifting and plenty of sleep and recovery can trigger your natural hormones, an essential factor to a rapid reduction of body fat and building muscle.Tip: It is not practical to remove fat from body parts unless you subject your body to plastic surgery.I recommend changing your diet from processed sugary food and drinks to natural and fresh ingredients and then reduce caloric intakes gradually as the first baby steps toward a healthier lifestyle. Mix it up with some physical activities such as daily walking to get you started on the right track. Small changes to the lifestyle is an excellent way to approach fitness. If done right, the weightlifting lifestyle comes with clean-eating, a slang used by weightlifters explaining the food/diet.The lifestyle of weightlifting in time can chisel your physique, but everything starts with a proper diet and nutrition.Thank youMansour’s disclaimer:Don't do anything stupid and get hurt lifting big weights after reading some of my answers. This would make us both quite unhappy. Consult a Medical Doctor, a Strength Training coach and common-sense specialist before doing anything you may read in some of my answers.
