FIRST JOB;; hostess? tips, im nervous ?

like i want some tips ! (: im nervous! ahah thanks <33

Nervous about starting a new job , any tips ?

1) keep your cv concise and put a brief personal statement first followed by your experience, education and references. remember to spell check it and get help with grammer if you're not confident.
2) when attending interviews dress smartly and always make an effort with your appearance
3) remember to smile and make eye contact! as nerve wracking as it is, you need to show your personality as much as possible in the interview and come across approachable.
4) when starting a new job, make eye contact with new colleagues, again remember to smile. its useful to ask little questions to other people - people love talking about themselves then offer up a small piece of information about yourself. it'll help break the ice, you'll get to know them and they will get to know you.
5) with customers: if you're working with them face to face be conscious of your body language; don't cross your arms and although im repeating myself: smile! it will put the customer at ease. if talking on the phone try to keep upbeat and 'smile' as you talk. customers really will hear your smile in your voice.

hope this helps!

I'm nervous about my first babysitting job, any tips?

i suddenly
out of the blue got asked for the first time to babysit. These are kids I know,
the girl in third grade, the
boy in either grades 1st-2nd. I've never babysat before except 11 year old brother, but he's not much of a job. So any tips?? I get along with little kids, but
not to the point I would want to babysit toddlers.
Oh, and by the way, I'm a 14 year old girl.
I will be babysitting
from 8:30-10:30, so bedtime may or may not come before I have to
leave.
Thanks to anyone that leaves a helpful tip!! :-)

Nervous about first day of training at first job?

Got my first job as a cashier and my first day of training starts today when I go in at 4. I'm just totally nervous about it. I'll be working until 10 and I just don't know exactly what to expect. I get a 30 minute dinner break and I don't know when that'll be and I don't know what to take. I'm not sure if I should take a bag with a few things in them. I already got my locker and combination. I don't know if I should go straight to the break room when I get there to put my things away or if I should go straight to the service desk to meet who will be training me. I don't know how early I should get there either because I don't want to get there too early where my trainer may not have even arrived.
This whole thing is just nerve wrecking. Any tips or advice?

What are the best tips for teens in their first job interview?

Answer what comes to your mind and be spontaneous.Just think how many interviews they would have conducted and how many redundant answers they would have heard from people like us. You don't have to be different just to stand out but try to have your opinions expressed well.Be confident and don't start of thinking it as an interview and get nervous. instead think of it as putting forward all you have learned thru these many years of learning and in letting them know thru a casual conversation. To keep it short, no interview is the last one you ever going to get, you never know what best opportunity awaits for you. Learn from each interview you attend and get better at them for future.I wish you all the best!

Tomorrow is the first day of my first job. What are some tips?

If you are in a larger company they probably have a day or week planned for you. In smaller companies you tend to get shown around and introduced to everyone - but don’t be concerned that you will remembernobody’s name, they will remember you.Key things which make an impact:find the bathroom, printer, copier, coffee machine, break area.find what people do for lunchFind what time people normally arrive and leave.Look as if you are doing something, even if you are not. You are likely to be left alone for part of the day, so have somtething to do - even if it is writing in a notebook.Smile and say hello to everyone you see.Find some interesting questions to ask for when you are with all your new work colleagues. Ask what they do, how long they have been there, what secret should you know, who not to piss off.Take notes about everything, especially about what you are asked to do. Ask for a contact name that can help you if you get into difficulty. Get a phone list if you can so you can call these people for help. That should get you through your first day. Be prepared for them not being ready for you - i.e., there is no PC, phone, desk, task list for you. Have something useful you can do - such as looking up the company on the internet to understand what you will do, and how it fits with what the company delivers.Good luck!

I'm nervous about making mistakes at my first ever job, do you have any advice for me?

My employer laughed at my work.“This is just… bad.”I laughed, too.“Got it. What would you like me to change?”Mistake? Oh yeah. You never want your employer to call your work “bad” but there I was, smilin’ right back at him.I used to take these things very personally.I had the belief that my employers were out to get me. They were looking for that one mistake so they could go “AHA! YOU’RE FIRED!”But that’s anxiety talking. In reality, your employer is (almost always) on your team. They want you to succeed. They hired you for a reason, after all — they thought you could do this job and they want to give you every opportunity to succeed. My biggest piece of advice? When told you’ve made a mistake—Smile, nod, and say “I completely understand. What should I do differently from now on?”If you don’t completely understand, clarify. But never, never, never DEFEND.Your clarification questions should be “Which form are you referring to?” or “When did this happen?” — not “Why didn’t anyone tell me that?” or “Why is it such a big deal?”Accept the mistake, make sure you understand clearly how to proceed, and move on.Don’t dwell on it.Everyone messes up their job sometimes. Everyone.Don’t even call them mistakes. Call them learning opportunities — because that’s what they are.So what’s there to be nervous about?Think about how much you’ll be learning. And even if your employer looks at your work and calls it bad, remember that’s not a statement about you.Your work is not you.You are not your work. The sooner you learn that, the faster you’ll grow.Trust me.

Applying for my first job! Help/Tips?

I turned 16 in September and I've been wanting to get a job for awhile now. I just have no clue where to start. I would really like a job in retail, but I'm guessing that I should get more experience before I apply for a job like that? Would a job in the food industry be better for someone who's just starting?

Also, I'm sorta shy and I tend to get nervous and mess up a lot when I'm talking to people I don't really know, so I'm scared about the whole "good communication" part of it. This also makes me wonder how I'm going to deal with job interviews....

Please help! I'm really nervous, and I'm just looking for some guidance from those who have experience with this sort of thing.

I'm a bit nervous going into my first job at a fast-food restaurant, and I need some advice?

unless you lied and told them you are experienced, they already know you need to be trained and will keep an eye on you until they know you can handle it.

my first job was at McDonald's and they had short film loops that demonstrated each job so you would watch the right one for 10 or 15 minutes and then put to work (I did quarter pounders first at a time of day they didn't need two grillmen) so relax and be ready to learn.

if you are still nervous I suggest you put on your uniform and go ask the manager on duty if you can review the training films (now days I expect they are video files instead of film cartridges but same difference)

I said to wear your uniform just because your initiative might get you extra hours if you are there when they need extra help but even if not the manager will remember you and might fast track you for assistant manager if you continue to impress them
