Never Tear Us Apart Alto Sax

What are the alto saxophone notes for' Never Tear Us Apart' by INXS?

If you mean the saxophone solo, it doesn't exist. Instrumental solos for popular music are rarely if ever published out. The sheer number of popular tunes that get published out is already small (maybe 5-10%) and the number that have the solo written out is maybe 1% of that. The reason is because the solos are never written out. The player is never reading a written out solo. They may have the chords of the piece, but that's it and they improvise (make up) the solo. They do it so many times that they know what works and doesn't, and what they want to hear. Then they record it, and it is never transcribed for sheet music because the demand is not worth the cost of paying someone to figure it out and then add it to the publishing. If you want it, you'll have to figure it out. I just listened to the song, and it is really easy to figure out as it is. The hardest rhythm is a triplet, but most of it is sustained notes (half and whole notes) with a few quarter notes. If you took about 15 minutes you'd have it down since it is only about 8 measures long.

I didn't take the time to do something that I care nothing about. I took two quick listen throughs and figured out the hardest spot of the rhythm and figured out what it was. This is what YOU want to do, not me, and I certainly get nothing from it as solos I transcribe are stuff like John Coltrane, not solos that can be figured out by my middle school students with no real work.

What are the notes for these chords on alto saxophone?

ofer e has given you all the scales and modes you will need for these, but what i would consider more important is the chord tones, ie. the notes of the triad ( ext.)

Ami7 - A C E G
D7(13) - D F# A C (E G) B
Ami9 - A C E (G) B
Gmi9 - G Bb D (F) A
C7(13) - C E G Bb (D F) A
Fma7 - F A C E
F#mi7(b5) - F# A C E
Bmi7(b5) - B D F A
E 7 - E G# B# D

the bracketed notes are ones which are implied by chord extension, but not necessarily all played by the chordal instrument (piano/guitar)

PS. I assume the chords you gave were written on your part, therefore were already transposed for saxophone

What are some good rock songs that feature saxophone?

This question was too much fun to pass up. Then I get in here to get down to business and find so many great answers. Pink Floyd, King Crimson, The Rolling Stones, Dave Matthews Band, David Bowie, and of course, Bruce Springsteen all are absolutely famous for their use of saxophone in their music. The instrument played an integral part in some legendary classics. But, I still see room for lots more that can be mentioned. I can get really carried away here. I quickly wrote down about thirty songs by different artists that I could quickly think of, but I must narrow it down. So, as the self-proclaimed Kasey Kasum of Quora, I’ll give you a Top Ten list (of people not mentioned before, of course), counting down to my favorite. The Beastie Boys: “Brass Monkey” (1986)Quarter flash: “Harden My Heart” (1981)Hall and Oates: “Man-eater” (1982)Huey Lewis & The News: “I Want A New Drug” (1984)Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band: “Old Time Rock And Roll” (1978)INXS: “Never Tear Us Apart” (1988)Glen Frey: “You Belong To The City” (1985)Spandau Ballet: “True” (1983)Roxy Music: “Avalon” (1982)Supertramp: “Crime Of The Century” (1974)

What is a great saxophone solo played on a pop song?

What is a great saxophone solo played on a pop song? Thanks for the A2A.Every time I hear Walk on the Wild Side by Lou Reed, the sax solo gets better - and that song was recorded 46 years ago.Ronnie Ross did the sax solo. Ross was also David Bowie’s saxophone teacher. The solo does not grab you by the lapels like a typical rock-and-roll solo. Instead there is a very subtle entry. The articulation is a match to Reed’s vocals. The subdued tone of the sax even matches Reed’s voice. At first the listener thinks the sax part is just a shot. Then the part goes on too long to be a shot - it must be a counter melody. Then there is sax very gradually becomes the primary voice. As the sax part goes on , the song just fades away - I can picture somebody very boldly and contentedly walking into the night. The sax solo makes the song sound so complete.Hopefully, somebody with more musical education can do a better job of discussing the solo.

What other saxophone songs are similar to George Michael's Careless Whisper?

I think Bobby Keys who was primarily the sax player with the Stones created some interesting sounds. He was pretty versatile. Maybe “Waiting on a Friend” was an example of a song where he was playing in a more mellow manner. Also the sax solo in “Never Tear Us Apart” reminds me a little of the Careless Whisper solo. The soloist was band member Kurt Pengilly. INXS used the Sax a lot.

What songs are good to play with a guitar sax piano drums and vocals?

Any song.Seriously. You can arrange pretty much any song to be played by any set of instruments. Sometimes you just have to be more creative, but that’s part of the fun. Others have suggested songs which used your instrumentation, which is fine, but then you end up trying to sound just like the record.Better to take a song you genuinely like and make it your own. The internet makes it easier to do these days. It takes a bit more time and creativity, but it is totally worth the effort.

Wedding song - saxophone?

This song was played at my parents' wedding. They were married in either 1999 or 2000, so this song must be from the '80s or '90s. I'm assuming it has to do with love, in order to be suitable for a wedding.

The intro starts with a saxophone, I believe. And I know this won't help much, but the sound is something along the lines of:

doo da doo. doo da doo. doo da doo, da doo da doo doo doo. doo da doo. (I know this won't help, but it's stuck in my head)

It's quite a slow song.

Any ideas?
