New Isp. All Devices Connecting To Wifi Except Laptop.

Laptops won't connect to wifi but other devices will?

By "Won't connect" what do you mean?

- It won't accept the password.
- It doesn't prompt for a password.
- You enter the password and it says it is incorrect.
- You enter the password, and it does nothing.
- Etc...

Also what type of security? WEP, WPA, WPA2, etc.

Good Luck...

Why can't I connect other devices besides my laptop to my home wifi?

Normally when a device hooks to the router but is not passed by the router through to the Internet it means that the router has a WEP or WPA password set on it to secure the network. When you initial set things up using your laptop, you set that password, and it was stored on the laptop which can send it to the router and is given permission to pass through the router to the Internet.

However the the other devices do not have the password stored on them. If they are "Windows" devices, you can run the "Connection Wizard" (search for it in Helps) and it will set up the connection including prompting you for that password. Once the password has been, the device(s) will remember it and be able to connect through the router to the Internet in the future.

Also since this is a router supplied by your ISP, you should be able to contact their help line and have them assist you with setting the thing up. Most ISPs are very good at getting their equipment going for you as that is the only way they can keep you as customer. Use them.

If the instruction for your router are only in Chinese, try looking on the web site of the router's manufacturer. You will probably be able to find an English version of the instruction there. they will show you how to reset that password if you do not know it.

Why doesn't my laptop connect to a particular WiFi network?

If the WiFi network is visible and the password is correct . . .and you are still not able to connect, could it be that your device is not on the list of ‘Allowed devices’ on the router? i.e if the Access Control or MAC filtering is turned on and your device (laptop) is not on the list, you will not be able to connect.Access the router through some other device that is already connected to the networkgo to the admin panel of the routerthe default IP address, user ID and password for the router should usually be printed on a sticker under the router itselfturn off the ‘Access control’ (It can also be referred as ‘Mac filtering’ or ‘Allowed devices’ or some other name)Add your laptop’s mac address to the list of allowed devicesconnect laptop and confirm that all is wellturn Access control onIf you leave the ‘Access control’ in off mode, anyone with the User ID + Password can connect.Alternate method - Reset the router - only if nothing else works :If you are unable to access the Router’s admin panel (you forgot the user ID / password or there is no other connected device to access the panel.), look for the ‘Reset’ button under / behind the router. If you keep the router switched on and press the reset button for around 5 seconds, the router will get reset to the default settings. You can thereafter add your device and set up everything as you need. But remember, if you reset your router :you will need to know the details of how to connect your router to your ISPunless you use the same Wifi name and password for the router, all other devices that could previously connect will also have to be reconnectedGoogle for Access Control or MAC filtering and you will find plenty of tutorials, guides and videos on how to set it up on your router.SanjayLawMint - CLAT PG, UGC NET, SET, DU LLM Entrance Mock tests & Previous Question PapersDisclosure : Author has fiduciary interest in the link mentioned in the signature.

Is there anyway one can know how many devices are connected to my WiFi network by laptop or mobile?

If you have Android phone, you can use following app to get list of device connected to your router as well as troubleshoot you connection to you ISP.ISP Customer Tool - Android App————— OR —————-If you don’t want to install anything you can view them by your router’s web UI by opening to http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 (most of time). There are different types of router but you can always look for wireless status and can find something like below. in below screenshot you can see there are 4 clients connected to my device.Tip: Change password every month or two, this will remove the possibility of older clients being connected. Can't connect to one particular WiFi network?

Certain makes of WiFi devices (computers, games consoles, TVs, phones, etc) are not fully compatible with certain routers. The incompatibility can vary from the device not detecting the network at all, to refusing to connect to the network, to slow connections and random drop outs. My experiences with my own network and those of my friends suggests that between 2% and 5% of device/router combinations experience come compatibility issue. In many cases, this can simply be operating at a speed slower than should be achieved and I believe many people do not realise that they have any problem.

Before I upgraded to a different ISP connection, my IP security camera would not detect my WiFi network, and the camera had to use an Ethernet connection instead. Also my old laptop was painfully slow, but my Windows tablet PC was fine. After the upgrade of the ISP connection, the new router works fine with the IP camera over WiFi and the old laptop experienced better WiFi Performance, but the tablet PC was much slower.

Sometimes a change of wireless channel in the router, or a different driver for the wireless adapter in the PC can solve the problem. Other alternatives include disabling the original wireless adapter and plugging in a USB adapter (with Windows 10 drivers in your case), or using a different WiFi source.

As the only device I have that experiences problems is my tablet PC, I bought a TP-Link TL-WA850RE WiFi Range Extender. This is not giving me extra range, however, it does represent a separate WiFi source (with a different SSID). Since it receives the signal from the router THEN retransmits it (and the same in the opposite direction), it drops the speed by around 50%, but since I get over 50 Mbps download from my ISP, getting only 25 Mbps to this PC is no hardship.

I hope this provides you with the possible cause of your problem and a way forward.

When a laptop is connected to a mobile phone hotspot, does the laptop get a new IP address from the DHCP?

No, it won't.When you connect a device to a WiFi hotspot, it means all the websites you visit or all the internet you use is Routed or Passed through the Hotspot. So if you connect a Laptop to Mobile hotspot, it means you are Technically using internet from Mobile. So it will have same IP address. If you want a different IP you can use a VPN software like Hotspot shield VPN.Hope it helps. Cheers.

My laptop is showing limited Internet access over my home WiFi connection. What should I do?

Let's try to understand the problem first. You are getting message of Limited Access when you are connected to your wi-fi. It means you are connected to your Router but there is no internet or there is internet but your computer isn't able to recieve that. It means your LAN card is working fine. Now we have 3 different steps to fix this issue but before going further just restart your computer.1. Disconnect your computer from your wifi and re-connect it. If this works then no need to follow other steps.2.Go in Start menu and search CMD or Command Prompt. A black window will be pop up on your screen. You need to type further commands : ipconfig/release then press enter, ipconfig/renew then press enter, netsh winsock reset then press enter. Restart your computer. Normally it should work by now.Still if you are facing the same issue then, follow 3rd step3. Restart your Router/gateway router. And follow step 2 before restarting and if it still doesn't work then contact your ISP (Internet Service Provider). At this point there is no issue in your computer because you are already connected to your network. It is just your network.I hope it helps. Thanks.
