New Kitten Vomiting A Lot. Help

5 month old kitten vomiting?

My kitten is 5 months old. About 4 days ago he started vomiting up his food. I assumed it was a bad batch of food and that he had a sensitive stomach. The next day when he wouldn't eat or drink I took him to the vet. The vet felt no obstruction and no string. She thought that it was probably the food since I switched my cat on a different food so fast. She gave him a shot of cerenia and some fluids. It seemed after that Felix was fine. He was drinking and eating fine. Two days later, he started vomiting again. I took him back to the vet. This time, however, when he was puking I saw a few specs of hair. I told the vet this and she told me it was probably a hairball in the stomach since she found nothing in the intestines. She gave me laxtone and did another shot of cerenia. She also gave me some cerenia pills to use later. She also put Felix on a prescription i/d diet since it could very well be a sensitive stomach.

A few hours after the vet, I gave Felix some laxtone. He licked some but not all. Since that laxone he has ate and drank nothing. I got a syringe to force him to drink some water and a syringe to make him eat some food. So far I have gotten 2 1/2 teaspoons of food in him. I should mention that before I did this he was acting like he wanted to throw up but couldn't (probably because of the cerenia) His coat is also not as nice as it usually is.

My question is...what should I do now? Should I keep force feeding him?

My kitten is vomiting foamy white stuff?

I've had my kitten for two days and she started doing the same thing today. Twice so far and it's just white clear/foamy stuff. She actually runs to the litter box to do it.

Otherwise, she seems happy and content. Is eating, sleeping, playing and pooing like she's supposed to. We have an appt with the vet on Thurs for a checkup though.

UPDATE: One day later and my kitten is fine. Only threw up the two times I mentioned yesterday. Must be acclimating to her new home and a switch from table scraps to kitten food. Not necessary to be the alarmist and run off to the vet.

My 9 week kitten has diarrhea & is vomiting.?

She was a stray so god knows what she was eating out there. If you suddenly change her food to the kitten food they can experience vomit and diarrhoea because their digestive system isn't used to it.
I would starve her for 24 hours. If she stops vomiting and having diarrhoea then:

Feed her something plain like chicken and gradually introduce the wet cat food. Increase the amount of wet cat food and decrease the chicken, til you are just feeding her wet food.

However, with a kitten that young I always worry when they have been vomiting and having diarrhoea because they get dehydrated so quickly and they can quickly deteriorate. Is she well in herself, like is she bright and alert?
Keep an eye on her. If she's still vomiting or she doesn't seem right I'd take her to the vets TODAY.

Afraid she won't be able to have her vaccinations if she's ill but take her tomorrow anyway to get her checked over.

Good luck. And good on you for adopting her :)

9 week old kitten vomiting sporadically- help needed!?

your instincts are right....new pets especially puppies and kittens do this in new homes and sometimes just because being that young there systems are very fragile and so they vomit easily...the important thing is to make sure she is drinking...and make food available in case she wants it....i would double check with a vet or pet store clinic....but from experience what you are describing is normal......enjoy your new pet...best of luck :)

Why does my 4 month old kitten keep vomiting?

I have a grey kitten I rescued from the streets. We have been feeding her purina kitten chow for about two weeks now and she has been fine up till the past 2 or 3 days. I noticed her vomiting a lot and in random places and she is getting very skinny. I'm very concerned. Also last week we got another kitten she is much younger and she has started making very smooshed poop. I just don't know what to do. I cannot afford a vet. I think they need to see a vet though. Any suggestions on what's going on.

What should I do if my cat is vomiting white foam?

If your kitty is vomiting white foam, check to see what kind of plants you have in the household. If your kitty is chomping on some of them, put the plant up away from where the kitty can reach it and purchase some grasses some of the pet stores sell. I had a pet sitter at my home, I did not know the plant on my formal living room table was poisonous to cats, she always stayed upstairs but the new person, left the door open and she came down stairs and decided to nibble. When we got back, she was at death’s door and they asked me if she had been outside maybe got into something poisonous and we said no but now, thinking back and remembering the conversation of what the sitter said, we realize she probably munched on that plant and it killed her. The ER Vet could not bring her back, it broke our hearts that we lost her due to that plant. Same thing when we visited a friend, they had inherited a dog because his brother had passed away. They had a beautiful backyard with lots of plants and the dog was allowed to be out they at all hours of the day and night. The dog munched on something that was poisonous and it killed him. Please be aware of what kind of plants you have that will kill pets….lillies are one of them, there are many more.

My kitten poops a lot?

As long as he is other wise normal i.e.sleeps, plays, seeks company, he is most likely healthy.Be sure that you are feeding your cat a good quality food.If the food has a lot of bulk in it that is for no purpose to the good of the cat, the cat cannot use the fillers so it gets rid of it .The better the food the more of it your cat will use up and the less he will eliminate.Follow the reccomindation on the food package as to the ammount to feed. Some young cats will eat to much.Good luck with your new baby!

SICK KITTEN (diarrhea, vomiting (once), teary eyes, sneezing (every once in a while)?

you had her stool tested, which is good.. trying to mask diarrhea when it is an internal parasite can be an issue.

Probiotics help a lot when it comes to getting kittens intestines settled. full fat yogurt with live cultures is the fastest and cheapest way. You could also go to a health food store and buy probiotic powder. I use the yogurt all the time and it helps. Getting fiber into the kitten also helps by firming things up. Canned pumpkin is usually my first choice, as kittens really like it. I quite often mix the two and give that. If your kitty doesn't like it plain, you can mix some of the food into it.

Changing over food can cause GI upset for a while. You might want to back down to 1/4 new to 3/4 old for a while.

You might also want to re-examine the food choices. You aren't saying what you are feeding, but often breeders and vets suggest lower quality foods because they are taught they aren't quite so low quality by teh food companies themselves (who often give product free or at a great discount to get these people to sell it to you) Check out http://www.catinfo.org a web site run by a vet who actually studies feline nutrition. The recommendation is a species appropriate diet - one that most mimics a cat's natural prey of rodents, so something high protein, high moisture content, low carb.. a lot of canned foods fit the bill.

1) it never hurts to tell the vet what you are doing and what is going on. Will save time if something happens and you need to rush the kitten in - nor will it be forgotten in an emergancy situation (not that you have one, just saying)
2) see above
3) keep her isolated to one room of the house.
