How do I get back the previous yahoo emal format. The new one reqiring manipulation of lines is TERRIBLE.?

You cannot return to a previous format of Yahoo Mail. Yahoo Mail Classic and all previous and older versions of Yahoo Mail have been discontinued and are no longer available. Yahoo has no intentions of reverting back to a previous version or reverting back to Yahoo Mail Classic.

i strongly recommend this Yahoo Help page which explains the new Yahoo Mail format and its new features:

Overview of Yahoo Mail -- http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?page=cont...

Internet Explorer users can revert back to the previous version of Yahoo Mail by enabling Compatibility Mode. This will only be temporary so eventually you will have to get used to the new Yahoo Mail. Click Tools, Select Compatibility Mode, add www.yahoo.com

Some users have recommended downloading Thunderbird, an email program from Mozilla that allows you to access Yahoo Mail without ads and includes the tabs feature.

Your only other option is switching to the basic format. Basic is similar to an early version of Yahoo Mail Classic. It's very simple design is easy to use but is lacking many advanced features only available on full featured.

To switch to basic mail temporarily disable your web browser's JavaScript or adjust your screen resolution to lower than 1024 x 768 to automatically switch you to basic format or you can follow these instructions:

On your Yahoo Mail page, hover over the gear icon in the upper right corner
Select Settings
Viewing email
Basic
Save

If you would like further instructions on how to switch to basic or learn more about it, please see these Yahoo Help pages:

Switching between basic and full-featured Yahoo! Mail -- http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?y=PROD&pa...

What is basic mail? -- http://help.yahoo.com/kb/index?locale=en_US&page=content&id=SLN5171

i do not understand what you mean by "manipulatin of lines". Could you please explain this? This may be a new bug that Yahoo needs to know about or it could be a new feature that can be used or disabled.

Where is my old yahoo mail homepage the new format sucks!?

If by "old" you mean the previous "New Mail": sorry, once you have the updated mail version, you cannot switch back to the previous "New Mail".

If however you want to switch back to "Mail Classic":

Yahoo has removed all links for getting back to Mail Classic, they warned users for a long time that it would be disabled completely one of these days. However, this link still works for most who try it: http://us.mc598.mail.yahoo.com/mc/launch . If it doesn't, you may get lucky by disabling Javascript - that also helps, but nobody knows for how long.

In case you don't know how to turn off Javascript...

For IE: tools -> internet options -> security. In security click "custom level" -> disable active scripting in the scripting section. Remember to turn Javascripting back on when you are back in Mail Classic since without it some mail functions won't work

For Firefox: tools -> options -> content, click on "disable Javascript". Now hit F5 to refresh the page while you are in yahoo email in order to kick in the option (permanent) to switch back to classic. Do not click on the "one time" option.

Note: when you sign out and come back, Mail Classic will automatically have been switched back to the updated mail, so you better bookmark the Mail Classic link!

Does anyone else hate the new Yahoo Mail format? Why do they keep changing things?

Life and the Internet are dynamic. Things change.

You can switch to a basic mail format, though:

Click the gear in the upper right corner.
Click on Settings.
Click on Viewing email.
Go down to Mail version and choose "Basic."
Click the Save button.

That will refresh your mail so it uses a basic format. If you ever want the newer format again, click "Switch to the newest Yahoo! Mail" at the top of the screen.

How to undo horrible new yahoo mail format...I can't open my emails!!!!?

Is the new format a cruel joke? Has Yahoo been taken over by a cyber attack? I loved the old classic format. I had no choice when they converted me to the new format at the beginning of the year. Have had nothing but problems with it. But today, the format is totally different. I tried emailing a friend a couple of times. We are both getting jumbled up messages out of order and then my sent messages come back to me later. I have used yahoo since I had a computer. My website and business cards have my yahoo addy, but this may be the straw that broke the camels back. I may have to look at gmail or something. This is a horrible cluster ---- Hoping that yahoo will get flooded with complaints. By the way. They now have a toll free number. I called it the other day after getting an email pretending to be from yahoo and asking for my password. Of course it was phishing, but it looked exactly like yahoo. Call yahoo and please let them know how you feel about new format and let them know that there are numerous threads from people that dislike the ''new improved'' format. 1-800-318-0612

How do I forward an email, and delete the strand of emails prior to that one?

You first have to disable the "Conversations" option in Settings---because that option prevents you from editing email you want to forward.

On your mail page----hover over the "Gear" icon (little wheel thing, top right), Then in the drop menu, click on "Settings".
Then, on that page, click on "Viewing emails" and UN-check the box next to "enable conversations"-----then click "SAVE".

Disabling Conversations will correct a whole host of other
oddities, as well, and will return the email page to normal (or near normal).

Now you will be able to remove the long list of addresses and/or previous comments (etc)---- just like you used to do, before this horrible new format.
