New Nanowrimo Participant Can Someone Help Me

I'm starting NaNoWriMo in just a few weeks, what are some suggestions for making it all the way to 50,000 words?

I've written some big projects very quickly in my time. Here are some of the things you will need to do to write a novel in a month: 1) Pre-plan. Figure out at least an approximate plan for your book before you start. That means now.       a)Beginning, middle, ending       b) Chapters       c) Themes - this will help to bring you back into line when you            get lost       d) Main characters, their names and general back story       e) Main events that make up the plot of your story2) Don't try to edit as you go. Just keep writing to your plan. You will edit later - in NaNoEdMo also known as December. 3) Don't re-read. You don't have time. Each day when you start to write again, read only the last half page that you wrote in order to reorient yourself in the story. 4) At night, before you go to sleep, set your sub-conscious mind the task of finishing your novel. Your story is written by your subconscious mind. Your job is to bring that story to consciousness and put it down on paper (screen?). Seriously. I relax and engage my subconscious by saying, 'Mind, I ask you work out all aspects of tomorrow's writing as I sleep - the twists, the humour, the dialogue - and I ask you to deliver them to me easily when I sit in front of my computer tomorrow. Thanks!'I also visualise the end of the project. For me, that means imagining as strongly as I can, a completed paper manuscript with the title page clearly visible. I see myself throw the completed manuscript onto my kitchen table with great satisfaction. 5) Make a commitment to yourself that you will not give up no matter what. 6) Understand that there will be many times when you will look at the thousands of words you have written and think, 'Oh my god. This is utter shit. WTF was I thinking?'Keep writing. Just keep writing.Let us know how you go :)

How early can you start writing a nanowrimo novel?

No. The entire point of NaNo is to write a novel in November. You cannot write before November 1st or after November 31st. You are allowed to plan, research, and outline as much as you want. I know how you feel though, my first year I signed up in January! I eagerly await November so just think of it as something to look forwards to. But if you absolutely cannot wait, There are other writing opportunities put on by NaNo. Like Script Frenzy in April. And there are also write a novel in a month in June and July. If you get onto the NaNo site and browse around, it's easy to find these oppertunities. And if you can't, you can easily type in "Write a Novel in June" and you'll find what you're looking for. While I think November is the most fun, it is still a great way to pass time until you wait for it.
And if your looking for buddies to add, find me. I love meeting new writer buddies :)

How I can use participant in sentence ?

Rather than watching the game of tennis from the gallery I would have preferred to be a participant on the court ....

What is Nanowrimo? Is it a contest? Are there Prizes?

NaNoWriMo = National Novel Writing Month

Starting November 1 (12AM), you challenge yourself to write a 50,000 novel in a month (so you have until November 30 11:59PM). It's a great way for writers to push themselves to produce a novel and just continue writing; most people only do it for the challenge and for the fun of it, but I know there are some competition you can enter them into and what not....I've also heard the starting in December publishing companies and lit agencies become VERY busy because a lot of people then try to get that book published.....it's up to you what you want to do with your work after you're done writing it.

But yeah, there are some contests that you can sign up for (you can find those on the nanowrimo website), and I'm pretty sure they come with prizes as well (I haven't looked up any of the contests).

hope this helps!!! good luck!!!!
