New Neighbours Invited Us To A Bbq - What To Bring Aside From Ourselves

New neighbours invited us to a BBQ - what to bring aside from ourselves?

Wine is always good to bring and share! It may be odd to bring your own meat if they didn't specify. It's fine to bring a dessert or side dish/appetizer to share.

My neighbors keep calling the police on me and falsely accusing me of criminal acts. I am afraid to go outside of my house. What do I do?

I have a neighbor that is fixated on my husband. She seemed a little off, but once she found out about his time in prison she developed a full blown obsession. She wrote the association board for our community a complaint about him slamming doors and watching her when she was outside. This was nonsense but they still had to address it with us. She wrote subsequent letters to the board stating he has a key to her car, and gains entry to turn on her radio...that he lets air out of her tires...that he's getting in her home and releasing ants...and he's poisoning the food in her refrigerator. We'd see police at her door, but they never stopped by to talk to us. One day last fall, my husband was riding his bike. This neighbor pulled her car in front of him and slammed on her brakes, causing him to fall off his bike. Her behavior was now endangering him so we went to the police to file a report. The police were helpful, and knew our neighbor well. Apparently she'd filed lots of police reports about my husband and a few other men from the neighborhood. The police recognized she has mental health issues and never pursued her later complaints. So what can you do? Try to have your cell phone ready to record if you think your neighbor will confront you. Keep a cool head, there's nothing wrong with not engaging in an argument. Don't be afraid to talk to the police to see what your options are if you're being harassed. You don't want to end up on the wrong side of this problem.UPDATE: my local police department reached out to the neighbour's daughter, the daughter called my husband to apologize and let him know she will be intervening in a medically supervised care program for her mother. She made sure he has her contact info should we have any problems. I give her all the credit in the world, she was wonderful and it's great that she wants to be involved in her care! Here's hoping my neighbor gets back on track.

What should I do about very suspicious neighbors?

I know the exact feeling, man. I can completely relate to you. Our house was broken into a couple of years ago, and I felt completely distraught and violated. Just knowing that someone's been watching your movements and has been on your property without your permission is distressing enough.

There's a few things that I would do if I were you. A top priority firstly, would be to visit your local police station. Not because any serious laws have been breached (yet) but because if anything DOES ever happen, they'll know about it and things will look slightly better on your behalf.

Guns are also something my family have always been interested in. We have a variety of 13 rifles/shotguns in our home, but they're solely for hunting (strict gun laws within the UK). However, I can really say that I feel safer having a few firearms in the house, very reassuring especially in strange circumstances! Not sure on what the laws are in your country but I'd advise buying that pistol!

Another good thing to do would be to contact your close friends/family in the area. Let them know that there's suspicious activity going on and if your parents are retired, have them drive past the house while you're at work a couple times a week!

As for the truck, get its registration number! That's your property and it certainly shouldn't be parked on your lawn! Why it's there, I don't know. This may be just me and I don't know how you feel about this, but I've been like this since my break-in. I always like to have something on hand just in case. When I'm driving around I keep my car jack in the back seat, when I sleep I've got my switchblade and baseball bat at arm's reach. Maybe it's a little too far fetched but I like to stay vigilant.

Anyway man, I don't usually reply to people in this much detail but I could really relate to this one. As it's late and I'm going to bed, I'm not going to read over it for spelling/grammar mistakes as I'm too shattered. But best of luck in sorting out your rat infestation! Take it easy and be safe!

Help! Our neighbor is obsessed with me and my husband!?

Do what my Mom does and tell them to back off a bit. Not harshly, just like "I don't feel comfortable with you inviting me to dinner every other night. Its nice and very thoughtful of you, but me and my husband just got married and would like to spend some time together. He's only off on Sundays so don't call me on Sundays. Thats our day together, mine and my husbands. If I want to hang out, I'll call you. And I really don't appreciate you asking me so many favors all the time. I mean, here and there, its alright, but all the time? I'm not your sister. And I don't want you in my purse. Ever."
There.

How do I introduce myself to my cute neighbor?

So, I live in a really small town. (I'm also a teenger.) My neighborhood is 99% young children and old people. So, we got new neighbors and and there son, he's around my age. I'm kind of shy, and since none of our neighbors talk to us much, I would feel weird just randomnly going over there and introducing myself even though I'm quite intrigued to meet him. My grandmother (whom I live with) is aquaintances with his mother through work, and she met his mother and his son outside his house the other day, and unfourtuantely i wasn't around to met them. My grandma said he's really cute, and he doesn't go to our small town school, (he goes to one about thirty miles away) so i couldn't meet him at school, either. It's been bugging me for almost a week now, but i don't want to be awkward. I never see him outside, so I couldn't meet him that way. Any ideas? :

Why do my Christian Neighbors keep bugging me about church stuff?

lol. What religion are they? It sounds like mine.

Anyway just tell them the following (in your own words):
I really appreciate your friendship and the kindness you have shown me. Unfortunately, I just don't want to be involved with your religion.

you can give your reasons or not but that should do it.

EDIT: I love the thumbs down. Keep em coming. You think his neighbors should keep preaching to him? What about his free will? The God of the bible didn't force religion on anyone. If he had, Jesus would never have been crucified.
