Fashion help for two trips!?

look for something that isn't too short but not a gown either, find something black or some dark color... red always works too, but make sure it's not too revealing for the show. no for the way down you can wear sweats and uggs because you'll need to be as comfy as possible.

Should I choose New York School of Interior Design or Fashion Institute of Technology?

I was accepted to the bachelors program and went to NYSID for one semester and then transfered. It really depends on what you are looking for. They have a lot of older students (i mean like 30-40's) who are back in school for a career change. I was 19 when I started, so I didn't meet many people my age, and it bothered me enough to transfer. As far as the faculty, they were not your typical college professors by any means. Most of them worked in the field of interior design and were teaching on the side, so they were not exactly the best at explaining and actually teaching, although they knew what they were talking about. And, they assigned TONS of work. However, they have a great reputation within the design field. So, if you are looking for a more prestigious school, I would say go to NYSID. If have a little bit more of a college experience type thing, choose FIT. I think their student body is more of a typical college population.

Can I start fashion stylist school at 13?

As a fashion professional and having taught fashion I think you should study fashion first before you can teach it. The fashion world is not as easy as you think but it is very rewarding if you love what you do. You are still a child and need experience before you can teach. I know reality TV makes you think that it is all easy but in reality you need to know what you are doing. I suggest you take courses in schools near you, get a degree, build a career and work your way to your dream of having a fashion stylist school.

How can I get 100% scholarship at Parson The New School of Design?

This is a topic you should address with Parsons. Funding varies and it all has different requirements. No one here can say, "Oh, well, you just do A, B and C." It's not that easy. Keep in mind that a 100% scholarship is RARELY offered except in cases of enormous talent that the school wants among its ranks. (This is the basis for athletic scholarships, e.g.) Some schools will award scholarships for academic achievement, like excellent grades and perfect SAT scores, e.g. Parsons is a private school. It may have some funding, but it will not be extensive. Even "100% scholarships" or "free rides" are predicated on performance and evaluated yearly for progress and achievement.Review the school's website, and pay particular attention to the pages regarding admissions, portfolio and SFA.Go to COLLEGEdata: College Search, Financial Aid, College Application, College Scholarship, Student Loan, FAFSA, Common Application and enter the name of the school. You can read further there about SFA.

Do kids really need ‘fashion’? Does it really help them in developing any ‘skills’?

Why does everything in childhood need to be about developing skills? Is childhood nothing more than a holding pen to train children to be adults? Why can’t childhood be for living while learning happens as a side effect? Part of living is exploring to discover what one likes and what one dislikes. That includes music, books, TV shows, how they’re treated, clothing, food, how they treat others, lots of friend or a few close friends.Clothing serves many purposes. It can be for comfort, for work, for making a statement, for expressing an artistic flair. It’s the same for children as it is for adults.Since you specify children, what you really may be railing against is how school affects how children see fashion. In school, fashion isn’t merely self expression. It’s tribal clothing. You’re “in” if you wear the accepted tribal costume. You’re “out” if you don’t.That’s not fashion. That’s the effect of school. When humans are locked up together — as they are in school and prisons — they form cliques and create a pecking order. To not be ostracized, there are certain rules of behavior that members of a clique are expected to follow. That includes wearing the right “fashion”.That’s not kid behavior. That’s schooled kid behavior. In contrast, homeschooled children aren’t locked up together. They’re free to form friendships across ages based on mutual interest, just like adults. Homeschooled kids, especially the unschooled kids, are free to use clothing to express themselves. Since they have no pressure to be accepted, the way they dress has little to do with what is fashionable at school. They’re free to explore all sorts of different reasons for wearing clothes to discover what works for them.

I'm applying to Parsons School of Design for the AAS fashion design and don't understand the creative assignment. Can some one help me?

Other people have provided very strong answers for this that will guide you on the right track. I’ll add that if you’ve never made a moodboard, I suggest that you get creative and think outside the box to find unique sources for the imagery. Magazines and modern fashion photographs are a good place to start, but also look at non-fashion sources like fine art, music, and other design fields like graphic design and architecture. Pinterest will have a lot of imagery for you to mine, but I would also recommend going old-school with this and checking out the art and design sections of the library, and taking real photocopies of images from the books…no Google search will ever replace the uniqueness and quality of images you can find by doing this! It is also fun to build your collage around a generally cohesive color scheme, because if you were to design a palette for a clothing collection from this moodboard, you could just pull the colors directly from the board and be ready to move into the clothing design phase of your process. Have fun with it! Get creative and think outside the box, and good luck!

How to get accepted into Parsons the New School for Design?

I'M 100% sure I want to go to Parsons the New School for Design! Not because I seen it on Project Runway or whatever. Comparing Parsons to Fashion Institute of Technology I can clearly see the difference going into the field I want to go into. Although Parsons is very expensive, Parsons offers Design & Management degree. My GPA is a 76, my arts is 85%. My SAT score 1800..and my recommendations are great as well my interview. If I had an excellent Parsons Challenge Project, as well as an excellent essay... I took courses at FIT as well as getting a 90% in the courses...can someone associated with Parson in anyway tell me my chances of getting in? And should be the way to go?????? THANK YOU

What is the foundation year like at Parsons The New School for Design for fashion design students?

That's cool that you want to transfer to Parsons for fashion design! I've heard great things about the school but have you've heard of FIDM in LA? They have a killer fashion design program and a lot of my fav fashion designers went to school there like Monique Lhuillier and one of the founders of Juicy Couture just to name a couple. If you wanted to know what types of classes they look for in transfer students, I do know that anything related to fashion or art looks really good but they look at all your classes on your transcripts. I also know the tuition is around $28,000 a year for the A.A. But what's cool is the A.A. holds the same merit as a bachelor's degree at a CSU or UC. I also know that they have great industry connections for students to take advantage of for internships and job opportunities. If you want more info, they have an app on iTunes that's pretty great. Good luck!
