New Social Networking Site

Is there any scope for a new social networking website startup in India if it has a different and new idea?

I think everyone loves good taste. If you have unique idea, people will welcome. In our world, two things are very important : identity and opportunity. Today Facebook is identity in digital world, so people love it. If you can build opportunity in a network, it will be successful. Opportunity can be anything like frequent marketing of someone's business, real business for real money or anything. You just need to identify it.

What is the best social networking site for meeting new people?

Sites like facebook are designed more for having your legitimate friends in a list, but I am looking for a site to meet new people, particularly people from Spain.

What can be a good idea for a new social networking site?

Every possible idea for people to network socially has been tried and tested multiple times. There are video, image, chat and audio based social networks. The only possible new way to build a new social networking site would be to merge VR/AR technologies to social media interactions to make them feel real. Can you do that? :PPS: Facebook already seems to be taking steps in that direction with the Oculus Rift.

Negative Effects of Social networking Sites...?

The term, "Social Networking" misleads people to believe they are social beings. Sitting in front of a computer for hours on end chatting with friends while playing Farmville does not translate into social skills. People become dependent on the technology and forget how to interact with the world around them. Social networks provide an outlet for the socially challenged to express themselves in digital form. Someone's online personality may be completely different from their offline persona, causing chaos when their two "lives" intersect." The negative impact of social networking sites is evident in online dating when the couple meets face-to-face for the first time. Commonly their personalities do not match their self-written descriptions. It is easier to type what someone wants to hear rather than telling the truth.
Information posted on social networks is permanent. When someone posts pictures or videos on the Internet they go viral. When the user deletes a video from his or her social network, someone may have posted it on YouTube already. People post photographs and video files on social networking sites without thinking and the files reappear at the worst possible moments.
Facebook and MySpace are excellent resources for human resource managers as it offers revealing information about a candidate's true colors. Most job seekers do not set their profiles to private, leaving an open door to their potential managers. Almost every profile contains embarrassing or compromising information to an employer, such as their political affiliation or religion. Younger generations have a complete disregard for their own privacy, opening doors to unwelcome predators or stalkers.

How do I create a new social networking site like Facebook or Twitter from scratch?

Here’s the answer. You don’t. That may sound harsh but why would you want to create your own social network like Facebook or Twitter? What is going to be unique about it? It is much easier to find a niche market and compete there then try to fight the 500lb gorilla in it’s own arena. If you decide to approach a niche market then here are a few approaches you can take:Build the social network from scratch and spend hundreds of thousands of dollars and have to wait months to years before your product is released. By that time it might even be outdated.Use a cheap “cookie cutter” white label social network. You only get what they have with little options to customize. Most like you’ll receive hybrid mobile apps which provide a mediocre or bad user experience via mobile devices. Yes you get cheap setup and monthly rates but you get what you pay for.Get a customized white label social network that allows you to add features as needed. This helps you get the best of both worlds by letting you utilize pre-built features but also get new ones you might need added on.If option 3 looks good to you then check out ExistSocial. What is the best way to market a new social network?

There are many ways you can drive users to a new social network and luckily we have a decade of social media networks to learn from such as Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and the most recent example Snapchat. But before marketing your product, the one thing that you must remember while creating soical network is it's added value to the users! Find a target audience and learn as much as you can about their needs and desires, find away to answer those needs and then the marketing will cone naturally.Lets take Twitter for example. Twitter brought millions of new users by using celebrities- A brilliant move on their part or just a stroke of good luck, was at April 2009. Ashton Kutcher went on the Larry King show and challenged him (CNN Twitter account) to a popularity contest in witch the first Twitter account to reach 1 million followers wins the contest. Kutcher and King went on every media platform trying to get more and more people to join the network to help them win. Kutcher ended up wining and twitter got PR and buzz that no money can buy.Snapchat is a great example of a product that understands and has insights into their young users base. Their initial product was mostly text that disappear once you open it(not sure about that since I joined Snapchat only a few months ago). They also used celebrity power to promote the social media but not just any celebrity, someone that their targeted audience will be able to relate to - Kylie Jenner. Today the network has most of the young adults as users and a real alternative to the not cool facebook. It's a difficult to drive millions of users to new social media but it is not impossible. find your audience, proved them with great product and if you can afford a mega size celebrity that would probably help.Best of luck!
