New Windows 8 Laptop

How to reformat my new laptop with windows 8?

hey there I have a couple questions. I bought a laptop from Costco last week and it has windows 8 installed in it. One thing I noticed is that the laptop didn't come with a windows 8 reformatting disk, for if I ever need to reformat it. I asked a friend what he thought about it and he said he is pretty sure that now days you only have to press a button on the laptop to reformat the computer so there is no need for buying reformatting discs. Is this true?? If so, how and what button do I press? Do the steps fallow like windows usual reformatting process?

also one more question, if it is true that all I have to do is press a key on my laptop to reset windows 8, can I downgrade my laptop with windows 7, but later go back to windows 8 by pushing that button?

you see I like windows 7 better, and I have a windows 7 upgrade/ reformatting disk set that I own, and I don't like windows 8 really..So I am wondering, If i downgrade to windows 7, but in like six months decide I want to go back to windows 8, can I do that by easily pushing the button/reformatting that's in the laptop? or will I have to go and buy windows 8 with money I don't have at the store??

How do I transfer Windows 8 from one laptop to another?

To answer his question,"Is  there a way that I could retrieve the original Windows 7 license on the  first laptop(Dell)"No. Why?"You   do not retain any rights to the original  software after you have   upgraded and you may not continue to use it or  transfer it in any way."From the Windows 8 EULA."Use the windows 8 on my second laptop(Vaio)"Looks like this might be possible."To install an upgrade version of Windows 8, you must already have Windows 7, Windows Vista, or Windows XP installed on your PC.If  you formatted the drive before the upgrade version of Windows 8  was  installed, you won't be able to use your upgrade product key to   activate Windows 8. To activate Windows 8, you'll need to install your   previous version of Windows, and then reinstall  Windows 8."Source: How do you transfer Windows 8 licence to a new machine

How do I use shimeji on my windows 8 laptop?

I should preface this by saying: I don't have Windows 8, so on some things (or maybe all) I won't be very helpful. Sorry!

Er... I'm afraid I'd need more information. Have you used shimeji before, or are you new to it? I wouldn't think it'd be very different from the older Windows, in use. These are the very basics, if you're new to shimeji: http://chibiaisuu.deviantart.com/art/Shimeji-Download-Tutorial-197431947
If your problem is specifically related to Windows, this might help (sorry, I know it's for Windows 7, but hopefully it works for Windows 8, as well): http://shimejis.deviantart.com/journal/Shimeji-problem-for-Windows-7-FIXED-276209910
The dreamscenes are more difficult, since I've never used them, but... dreamscene.org is your friend. It has a Frequently Asked Questions area that you'll definitely want to stop by (http://www.dreamscene.org/preview.php), and it provides a download for the program, and it has a lot of free dreamscenes available. I was going to go through it myself (since dreamscenes are capable of running on my computer), but I ran into a lot of trouble, and apparently Vista (what I use) is really different from other versions of Windows with regards to how everything works. Most of the stuff I found was for Windows 7, but hopefully it works similarly. This (http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/63841-dreamscene-install-windows-7-vista.html) is how to set it up.

I hope this helps!

I have a new ASUS laptop with Windows 8. How do I toggle a setting to stop the screen from zooming in or out spontaneously?

Since you mention using the touchpad when you accidentlly zoom in or out, you are probably activating the pinch zoom. You can disable this via your mouse settings in the control panel. Select the "settings" under the Device Settings tab, and uncheck the Pinch Zoom option.I do not have a Windows 8 laptop so I can't provide my own screenshots for reference, but here is a video guide you may find useful.

Can I install Windows 8/7 in a laptop that comes with Windows 10 installed?

You can install a separate partition, if you have enough HDD space and yes, you need to install drivers separately, as Win 10 and Win 8 won’t be able to “get to know one another.” Before you proceed, MAKE A BACK-UP of all the data, to avoid losing photos, audios and other documents. To install Windows 8, do the following:Insert the Windows 8 Installation disk/USB drive;Restart the PC go to BIOS and set the DVD-ROM/USB drive as the first boot device;* In BIOS navigate to Boot Device Priority (or to First boot device on some BIOSes) and move the DVD - ROM/USB to the first place, using the arrow keys and Enter.Exit BIOS and press any key once asked;Follow the on-screen instructions and once you see the drives, delete one of the drives (not the drive Windows is installed in (usually, Drive 1, the smallest in GB size - not the system-reserved one);* MAKE SURE TO MAKE A BACK-UP of all the data, before you delete the drive.Make new drives (one at least 97.5 GB - write 100000 and the other, with what has remained of the drive you deleted).Install Windows 8 in the small drive (97.5 GB);You can also consider installing VMware, in Windows 10, and install Windows 8 as a virtual operating system.Sources: Don't know how to install an operating system (Windows)

My Shimeji won't work on my new Windows 8 laptop...?

At first when I clicked the Shimeji-ee.exe like I usually would do a message about runtime environment or something like that would pop up. I managed to fix that by downloading some Java Oracle thingy for 64 bit, but now even though the Shimeji Image Set Chooser works just fine, when I click "Use Selected" none of them appear. Yet the little Shimeji program icon is in the taskbar... Even when I click "Another One!" there's still nothing... :(

Have any ideas of how to fix this?

How can I install windows 7 on my broken Windows 8 laptop?

Now I'm getting real sick of this bullshit. I've only had my new laptop for three days running on windows 8, I played some Team Fortress 2 then it froze and I restarted my laptop. Then the automatic repair thing is in a loop and I cant do **** anymore. I want windows 7 back and I have no idea how to do so because I cant boot from my usb and my laptop has no cd/dvd-rom. I've been trying everything. Is there a way to install Windows 7 from my installation usb USING the command prompt since thats the only thing I can access on my ****** up Windows 8 laptop?
