How much weight should a highschool lineman be able to bench press?

well depends on the school, we had an all state D line only bench 260 but knew his spot so well it didn't matter. And I'm a guard and I only 5'9", bench 275 and squat 405 but I'm not suppose to be here and I'm also the strongest kid at our school. So I mean you're only a freshman too so you'll have time to grow so don't feel bad

Am I too small for a lineman?

you may not be too short for high school but you are way too short for division 1 football or the nfl. if you want to play in college or beyond move to fullback. these days fullbacks mostly block so its like a mini lineman in the backfield. also work on getting stronger because your weight numbers aren't bad for being 15 but will definitely need to get a lot higher if you want to play in college.

Im 14 years old, I am a Freshman. I am 5'9 201lbs.

I would like to know what the average JV offensive lineman size is also what position you would think best for me. But my most important question is what the average size of a JV offensive lineman.

How much weight should the average highschool football lineman be able to bench press?

try around your own weight and if you can, raise it up until your comfortable doing reps of 10..

try to max out around 5-10 lbs above that

What is a good size/lifts for an 8th grade offensive lineman?

Considering its eight grade football that's a pretty good size.. It's all according to how strong you are... If you have a strength and conditioning coach get with him. He would be able to help you determine what a safe amount to be lifting for you is and a routine that you can work that will help you increase what you can lift as well.. Good luck....

What is the weight/height of a defensive/offensive lineman?

It depends exactly where they are on the o-line/d-line.In general offensive linemen tend to be heavier because they just need to be able to lay down a block at or around the line of scrimmage and form a “pocket” around the QB.Defensive linemen (especially D-ends) need to be lighter and use more agility to rush the passer or chase after a runner. There are 5 positions on the O-line: Tackle, Guard, and Center.Tackles are on the end of the O-line they need to run around covering the flanks for the QB they usually match up against a d-end or a linebacker trying to use speed to get around the outside. Examples: Joe Thomas 6′6″ 312 lbs. Tyron Smith 6′5″ 312 lbs.Guards are on either side of the center they will lay down blocks for the running back and match up against a d-tackle (sometimes a D-end). Examples: Marshal Yanda 6′3″ 315 lbs. Zack Martin 6′4″ 309 lbs.Centers snap the ball and are the leaders on the O-line, they match against a d-tackle or a blitzing linebacker. Examples: Travis Fredrick 6′3″ 317 lbs. Rodney Hudson 6′2″ 299 lbs.On the whole an Offensive Lineman should be at least 6 feet tall and 300+ pounds.D-Ends are on the edge of the D-line (depending on the play there may be a linebacker on the edge) they are usually smaller and faster than the other linemen. Examples: J.J. Watt 6′5″ 289 lbs. Mike Daniels 6′ 291 lbs.D-Tackles are on the inside of the D-line typically bigger than a D-end they power through the middle and make stops on the running game. Examples: Ndamukong Suh 6′4″ 307 lbs. Aaron Donald 6′ 284 lbs. There is somewhat more variety with Defensive linemen this may be able to be chalked up to two things, one: style of play, do they use finesse moves or power through? and two: 3–4 and 4–3 defensive schemes, in a when there are only 3 linemen they may need to be heavier as to not be shoved into the ground by the O-line.For a defensive linemen around 6+ feet and 280+ pounds.(Note: I put the best players in their position as my examples to give an example of what the best of the best look like)

Does being able to squat tons of weight mean you're able to run really fast and vice-versa?

No, but there is a correlation. Stronger legs can generate more force against the ground, and all else being equal, that will make you move faster. Sprinters will often use squats as part of their training. However, sprinting also requires speed and explosiveness. Being able to squat a lot doesn’t necessarily mean you are fast or explosive. Conversely, being really explosive means you might not need a big squat to sprint fast.

I'm 5"9 195lbs playing offensive line in college. What tips would you give me to improve?

Keep your head up when you're on the line, Your helmet isn't a weapon for spearing, and your neck will break before the other guy ribs do.Use your leverage to lift and push them back with small choppy steps. Master your hitting technique, technique counts for alot when your outmatched on arm reach and weight class.Deadlift and box deadlifts will help your explosive power, squats with reps will help with leg endurance.Learn when the guy in front of you is too big to take on your own, make sure your other linemen know which plays to cover you on when the opposition puts a 6'8 380lb man wall in front of you.At 195 You're eventually going to be thrown onto your back and have the wind knocked out of you, strengthen your core stomach muscles to be able to handle the impact and not be gasping for breath with 3 seconds to line back up.
