Nicotine Test Help Need Accurate Info On How Long It Stays In System

How long does it take to get nicotine out of your system for a nicotine drug test?

Ok, here's the deal. I really don't smoke that much at all. A few years ago, I had maybe 1-2 cigarettes once or twice a month when I was hanging out with my friends, just to try it. Never phased me to actually take up the habit or anything, so I just never got hooked on it. Recently, I went out to a danceclub with some friends, and the danceclub ended up being filled with people who were smokers. I literally took just one puff on a cigarette, and that was it. Well, I applied for a nursing position at a hospital, and they promote a nicotine free policy. I'm all for it. However, they said they were going to do a nicotine drug test for all applicants before they hire them on. Now, my question pertains to how long it takes to get nicotine out of your system. They really don't start hiring at hospital until the beginning of June. I just want to make sure that it's safe to apply. My other question is how exactly do they do a nicotine drug test at the hospital. Is it a blood or urine sample, or what? I'm kinda concerned, because I really don't want to miss out on a great opportunity for being around a smoke-filled environment for one night. If there are any nurses out there that can provide me some information about this, it would be greatly appreciated, or if there is anyone that was in the same situation as me, your answers will also be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

How long does cotinine stay in the blood?

Yes. Nicotine is metabolized into cotinine -- and Cotinine is eliminated.

Cotinine has a much longer detection time than Nicotine as a result,.. Nicotine is not reliable after a matter of hours. While Cotinine can be reliably detected for *Up to 5 days in urine. (Not quite as long in blood).

They can lower the cutoff threshold for Cotinine -- which would prolong the detection time by a few days.. but at 2 weeks your levels are going to be beyond any reliable detection even with the lowest ng/mL or ng/mg levels.

Cotinine levels are present in trace amounts in a large portion of the non-smoking population due to our air, passive smoke from others, etc.

The only way you would 'fail' is if they had the test set to TRACE levels of cotinine (ie: under 10mg/nL/mg) which is a bit unfair given the general population of non smokers often has these levels.

You should be fine.

How long does nicotine stay in your bloodstream? Is there any way to speed up getting it out?

You're probably talking about smoking tests for insurance and employment.Nicotine is gone within 2 or 3 days. However, its metabolytes cotinine and 3OH-cot can be detected in a urine test for about a week (over two weeks for a heavy smoker). If a carbon monoxide test machine is used, for identification of smokers, it could take a week or so for the CO to be eliminated - Testing for Carbon Monoxide in Exhaled BreathSo it depends on what type of test is used.

How long does alchol stay in your system? HELP PLEASE!?

Though it does vary a bit based on your weight, height, age, gender, and some genetic elements, the average time for your liver to metabolize alcohol is 1 drink every three hours. You had 1.5 drinks, so it would have taken 4.5 hours for the alcohol to completely leave your system. In other words, it's alreay gone. Unless you're extremely small or have genetic factors that would cause your liver to metabolize FAR more slowly than the average, you didn't even drink enough to wake up with a hangover.

(This is, of course, assuming you didn't eat any gummy bears/gummy worms or other gummy candy at the time you drank the alcohol, because gummy candy absorbs alcohol and then re-releases it into your system, in which case metabolization of the alcohol would take twice as long.)

What's the best(sure) way to pass nicotine urinal test.?

Nicotine can remain in the blood stream for up to 2 days. A number of factors can affect this, however, your sex, age, health, metabolism and even the sensitivity of the test that you are taking. These factors can all interact in such a way that it is difficult to predict an accurate elimination time.

A. Nicotine has a half-life of two hours, meaning that half of the nicotine in your body is gone in two hours. It depends on how much you have taken in as to how long it would remain in your body, but theoretically there would not be much in your system after a day or so.

Does Having Tobacco In Your System Cause a Negative Pregnancy Test Result?

I am 7 days overdue for AF and I have been extremely exhausted. I felt like I was going to puke this morning. I have been nauseous for the past few weeks. I took a BFN on sunday morning. I have been having really light pink discharged.

I smoke probably 7 cigarettes a day. I was wondering if that has anything to do with a negative test result...I am to test again on wednesday morning if AF isnt here by tomorrow.

My fiance and I are TTC. I really want this to be it. I have recently gained a very short fuse in the past few weeks. Maybe this is it and maybe it isnt. I need input VERY SOON.
