No Matter How Much Chapstick I Put On My Lips Still Feel Sore/chap. Its So Annoying. Why

I feel like lip balm just wets lips without helping anything. Is there a lip balm that actually heals lips?

My sons girlfriend came to my house after she just got back from a festival in Amsterdam. Her lips were so chapped and sore looking, it was painful to look at!I didn't have any lip balm made up because my daughter takes a new one every day. She must be selling them on eBay. Just kidding.Anyway, I scooped some shea butter into a little tin and told her to use it.A couple of days later my son told me that she said it was the best lip balm she's ever used and won't ever use anything else again.Obviously I told her that it was raw shea butter and not an actual product.Try it yourself. Get the unrefined stuff. I buy 5kg for £35.It is amazing for feet and hands too, just direct straight out of the tub. Here's a recipe for a nice light body butter you can make easily yourself. It will spread easily and soak in quickly.70% Shea Butter30% Oil.You can use Sweet Almond Oil/Macadamia Nut Oil/ Grapeseed Oil which are nice light oils. Or you can go for something heavier like hemp or even olive oil. Sunflower oil is nice too.In a double boiler melt your shea and oil together. Stir and refrigerate. As it starts to set up after 30mins or so whisk it with an electric whisk. I use a hand held one.Pop back in the fridge and whisk again at regular intervals.Once it is fully cooled you can whisk it until it is double in size and looks like soufflé.Tip. For a less greasy feeling you can a little cornstarch or arrowroot starch during the mixing stages. It really makes a difference. Go with 1tsp per 200g to see how you like the skin feel. You can add more later if you like.I know you asked just about lip balm but you may as well order a kilo of shea and get all the love benefits it has to offer.

What can I put on a cold sore to make it go away faster?

Well, sort of a (laser) flash.Biolase treatment may reduce the healing time and improve the comfort and reduce the inflammation. Many dentists have these lasers for other purposes, and dentists are possibly the easiest source of such treatment. A low dose laser is used to bathe the developing lesion in laser light. The photostimulation can accelerate healing (work still being done on this) and most signs and symptoms are well on the way to recovery after a couple of days. You need to get the treatment as soon as possible and it’s not 100% predictable. If the little blisters(vesicles) have burst and there’s a scab, the laser is unlikely to help a lot although it may feel more comfortable. As a complete aside, I broke the bottom end of my fibula while out running. The swelling was intensely annoying and interfered when I was working. After reading a few reports on photostimulation I decided to try treatment with a diode laser. I persuaded a colleague to apply the laser to the swollen region for five to ten minutes a day and I swear it felt better for a few hours after. I managed a brief jog exactly one month after the initial fracture.(Mechanisms of wound healing acceleration are thought to involve: collagen synthesis , fibroblast and chondroblast proliferation, reducing osteoclastic activity and increasing of blood flow , nerve regeneration , stimulation of keratinocyte proliferation and anti-inflammatory effects. And the lasers can numb teeth by directly influencing nerve function i.e. anesthetic effect without injections…. So, that might explain the rapid reduction of pain during laser application.

Lips hurt after kissing...and other questions...?

Ok first things first, your lips are like that because yes they are chapped. you just need to moisturize them and they should get better.

Your breast are normal. Perky is perfect... trust me. And who cares what the size of your nipple is? They're you boobs. Love them!

Yes you should completely shave down there. Before you two... you know. The first time might and more than likely will irritate the skin. But you should shave everything. Most guys prefer that.

Your acne is, well acne. Everyone has it, and no one likes it. We're all embarrassed about it, which is normal. It is more obvious to us, than it is to others. But all things clear up in time. I used to break out severly on my back, and now I have nothing. I didn't use anything. I just grew out of it.

The birthmark thing. Who cares? I have one on my inner thigh. Be thankful your not like my friend who once had a tumor on he lower back and now has a huge scar up her back from the surgery.

But most importantly, LOVE YOURSELF. Your boyfriend obviously finds you attractive. You are beautiful in your own way. Don't make yourself unattractive with you petty insecurities. They will all fade away eventually. But in the mean time, enjoy your teen years, and high school. You'll never get to experience it again!

Strange on going problem with my lips?

I see you've already seen a dermatologist. The problem you're having might actually be Exfoliative Cheilitis, or Angular Cheilitis.
It causes chronic drying/peeling/cracking of the lips and often corners of your mouth that is not cured by things like balms/petroleum.
Here's some information on both conditions, as well as some advice on how to treat.
(Important: I noticed the other poster advised using a sugar scrub. Plus a lot of things you already mentioned trying, lol..
Anyway, DO NOT use abrasives or exfoliants on your lips- it'll just make them more raw and painful, and more susceptible to getting a secondary infection.)
I have this problem too... it's so annoying and can get pretty painful.
Hope you feel better :)
