Nobody Wants To Take My Shift And Its An Emergency

What happens if a child is left at school and nobody is available to pick them up?

As far as I've seen, if it's been a significant amount of time and no emergency contacts can be reached, then the police or child services are called.I've had a few experiences with this. Some parents are just running late. Parents in emergency situations usually call or designate an emergency contact, but not always. Miscommunication is also common, and usually results in a panicked parent immediately rushing in to get the child. With young children, there's sometimes (but not always) an afterschool daycare program or a designated responsible adult who can't leave the child until they have a way home. The most recent experience I had with an unclaimed child was while working at a children’s summer school program. All of the elementary children, including the 12 I was responsible for, were dropped off at 9am and were supposed to be picked up at noon. My shift ended at 12:15pm, but I decided to hang around and wait for the last of my kids to get picked up.By 12:30pm, all 600 kids are gone except for two of mine.I tried to distract them while other staff called their parents, grandparents, aunts, cousins, etc. We played Simon Says for half an hour. Then we played charades for another 30 minutes. By 2pm, everyone was starving so we pooled quarters and single dollar bills until there was enough money to send a staff person to McDonalds for a couple cheeseburgers. Out of boredom, the kids and I helped janitorial to clean up the building. At some point they realized no one was coming for them and they cried for a bit. Then we built a fort out of stuff from the lost and found, and they took a nap.At nearly 6pm, the staff were seriously talking about calling the authorities. Just as I reluctantly begin dialing, a harried parent walked in, called to the children, and they left. The next day, the same parent calls in to complain. I never found out what the complaint was about, but I assume no one took it seriously. I wouldn't have done anything different.

What is the rectangular slot next the the gear shift in the 2013 Honda CR-V?

If you mean the small square cover to the right of the shifter in this pic, under the cover is the emergency lock release to allow the shifter to be taken out of park if it becomes jammed, or you need to tow it without the key, so you can put the transmission into neutral.

What do you do when you oversleep for work? Take urgent leave?

So here's a list of foolproof excuses that you can make while running late for work.Headache always works. Sitting in front of the laptop screen for 9 hours a day tends to give you a headache more often than not. Try it..sounds genuine and always works!Stuck in traffic. Analyze the situation well..see where you live..what's the distance from work..check traffic on google maps. Only if you think it sounds believable, tell your boss that you're stuck in traffic. Also, make this excuse when you know your boss doesnt take the same route to workVisitor's car parked wrongly. Random vehicle parked wrongly obstructing your way out of the parking zone. Such things happen a lot in countries where people do not follow rules strictly. Much believable! :DWater Issues: If you're living in a rural/semi-urban area, this is one problem that you may face every once in a while. Tell your boss that there's no water at home and its taking you time to get ready.Roomie/friend got sick. You're taking your sick friend to the hospital! Who doesn't support good causes!Lost your debit card/wallet/money. A lot of thought goes behind this one. Use it only if you're really running out of excuses and you think nothing less serious would work. And last, its okay to tell the truth at times. After all it's human to oversleep and get late to work! :)I hope these tried and tested excuses come in handy! However, getting late to work too often is not a great idea! Every boss appreciates a punctual and sincere employee! But just in case, go ahead..save yourself :DI hope my mates at Qustn (where I work) don't see this everrr! Going anonymous! :p

What is a polite way of saying no when someone asks you to work for them?

I always get asked to work on like 75% of my off days (I get 2 days off a week). I always say yes because I'm not good at saying no and for some reason I feel bad saying no. I'm getting tired of it because I hate that job and I feel like I'm always there. Earlier today one of my co workers asked me to trade work shifts with her which I didn't want to do so I said I rather just work the shift I'm scheduled to work. Then later on she asked me again and I said no thanks. It just irritated me because no means no, why keep asking. She wants off so she can hang out with friends which just irritates me even more because that's not a good excuse. She could have just asked off for that day before my boss made the schedule last week and my boss would have let her off instead of waiting until now. She said she's going to talk to my boss about getting that day off tomorrow which I'm 100% sure my boss will ask me to work or just go ahead and change the schedule and make me work her shift which is going to make me mad. So what's a polite way of saying no when my boss asks me? I thought about saying I had plans but I don't have any yet and I don't want to have to lie.

What is a good excuse for a no call no show to work?

I had a young 18 year old apprentice who did not show up in the morning. He had to get into work half an hour before the others to get the lights on, the tea room cleaned and most importantly the tea brewed. To be late was unlike him as he was usually very reliable. I tried his mobile phone and that just went to voicemail so I thought that I would wait until 9am and then call his parents to see what happened. At 8.30 he phoned me giggling like a schoolgirl and told me why he would not be in till lunchtime. He had stayed the night at his new girlfriend's home and had got up at 6.00 am to come to work, but on his way out of the house the girlfriend's mum was waiting for him. She told him to come back after his girfriend had gone to college and she would show him what a real woman was like. He had been in the cafe nearby for the past two hours pondering whether he should or not. While waiting he had seen his girlfriend walk to the bus stop and then her previous boyfriend pulled up in his car and picked her up. He was now on his way round to revenge shag the mum. I gave him the whole day off with pay.

Leaving work when wife goes into labor?

My wife is due to have our first child in two months and I just started a new job. I've asked my boss if there's some way he can be flexible about being able to let me leave if my wife goes into labor while I'm at work, and then being able to take a week off afterwards.....the response I got was less than ideal as he said he has to have people to cover the shift, and that without knowing a specific date/time frame he couldn't make any gaurantees. What do I do? I'm freaked out I'm going to miss the birth of my first child. The hospital my wife will be having the baby at is over an hour away from where I work. If I missed the birth I'd be devestated, not to mention upset if I then couldn't take time off work after the baby was born...( I get no paid vacation until 1 year). Do I have any rights as far as labor/family leave acts that allows me to be able to leave for something like my child's birth?
